We’re in building 6, in the 70s section. The weather today was perfect, I had long sleeves on all day. We might have to start hoping on the AoA buses, were right by the bridge. We’ve had a different experience with buses, we’ve gotten lucky twice I think? Every other time it’s been 35mins+ for a bus. I think the times we’ve gotten lucky is to MK cause they seem to only be running the stretch buses. I think half the issue is the buses themselves, and that there seems to be a lot of groups of teens for different things this week which are filling up the buses a lot.

It’s really hit or miss...the night i went solo i got right on at Pop, no wait, and right on back from MK with literally no wait. My son said he waited 25/30 min. I ran into a couple who said they waited 45 min. At AK to go to AOA. So you just never know. We ubered several times after late dining reservations and waited 4 to 6 min. for a driver. It was great! Weather cooler today...perfect, but very cool getting out of pool! BRRRRR....lol.

I wonder how much of it depends on the time of the year? After reading about people having long waits, I was pleasantly suprised, with the buses from the POP. We went last June and averaged 10 to maybe 15 minutes, and actually directly walked on a bus on a few occasions. The only real exception was the one or two times we just missed a bus or had to wait for a second bus, but even those weren’t bad. That said, I was nervous about the busses my first night. I went solo to AK, when they had EMH from 11pm - 2 am and the bus stop was a ghost yard. The bus arrival schedule didn’t show any AK times and I think I waited close to 1/2 hour.

Now bus from the parks to the POP were a different story! It wasn’t uncommon for us to wait a half hour and/or have to wait for a second bus because of the lines. Granted, we were closing the park on most nights, but it seemed like they should have been running more busses. We found that catching the bus to AoA was a better option on a couple of occasions.

Huh. So I'm on MDE at the airport waiting to board my flight and it asked me if I wanted to sign up for Minnie Van. It led me to a page to sign up. I'm wondering if they asked automatically because they know I'll be checking in at Pop later today. That's a lot better than going to the front desk to unlock it.
I'm sure they added it that to the system so they can give you the opportunity to take it from the airport to POP. Otherwise they would lose the chance at that revenue! lol

Does anyone know if they are offering gift cards again for no housekeeping during your stay?

And note it is not a gift CARD. They send it to you in an email. It will have a bar code on it so you can show it to wherever you are using it and they will scan it. Scanned it right off my phone.

If you can't find it .... use your search bar on your email and key in the word "GIFT" and you should find it. Searching all my email for "Disney" turned up nothing.

So all I have to do is request it when I arrive and then look for it in my email. Do I have to activate it or its good to use once I'm there. Thanks again.

At check in tell them you want to opt out of housekeeping for the gift card. They had a few small signs on the counters but not by every person so you could easily miss it.

You will get $10 per night minus one night in the form of an email. You don't have to activate it or do anything else, just open the email on your phone when you check out where you want to use it and they will scan it. We used at Satuli' Canteen then paid the remaining balance.

Also, if you already have another gift card that you are using, you can transfer the digital gift card you get from the resort to that other card by using www.disneygiftcard.com That's what we did. I tried to keep the number of cards I had to a minimum.

We have two nights left but I thought I’d check in regards to our stay. We got our room before we left Wednesday, we didn’t get any of our request :( I asked for 90s section ground floor, we received 70s building 6, third floor. I actually didn’t mind the 70s section at all, were close to the main building and could walk to AoA if we wanted. We asked for additional towels and pillows, they brought them but never replenished the towels. The food court has been hit or miss, mainly in the morning. We haven’t been here during the afternoon but at night time it hasn’t been congested at all. There are a lot of teen groups on property, dance competitions, bands, school trips but they haven’t been a bother really. Buses haven’t been the best, mostly standing room only, but they’ve gotten better in their timeliness every day.

So many varying reports on buses...overall we had no wait issues. Many times we walked right on if timing was right. No problems at park closing, they had multiple buses. But...at closing you may have to stand. We had a great stay in the 50’s. We had 4 rooms with 2 ajoining....it was perfect. We didnt care about getting a refurbed room, getting side by side rooms was our preference. We also did not pre-check in because we wanted to make very specific requests in person. We couldnt opt out of housekeeping because we booked with a conference discount...and we had great services everyday!

Checking in on Saturday, we decided to stay another day at the end of our trip and our travel agent was able to secure a standard pool view room for that one night. How do we go about asking to just stay where we are and not move all our stuff for the one night?

I would make your request when you first arrive but there is no guarantee that they will be able to honour it. It all depends on what rooms they need the day you're supposed to change room categories.

Do I just let them know I'm fine with staying in the lower category room if it means we don't have to switch rooms?

You can let them know but there is still no guarantee that you will be able to stay in the same room. Even when doing a split stay in the same category room, you can be moved between reservations. They will make note of your request but it's not a guarantee that it can be granted.

All these posts about the buses is making me wonder if we should do a car rental instead... :/ Has anyone went to Pop in late July? The idea of waiting in that heat with a 2 year old has me nervous lol Hopefully since its a popular time they accommodate with more buses.

We look at waiting at Disney as just part of the day. Sometimes we need to wait for buses but not often. I find if I actually look at my watch and time the wait it's less than I feel like it is.

Park closing is busy, that's a given. We prefer to either leave a bit before it closes, enjoy some shopping time after park closure to let the bus lines go down or, brave the crowds and wait it out.

I will say when we're leaving MK and heading to Pop, we will let people pass by and wait for another bus to arrive if it means we need to stand. Pop is about a 15 min ride from MK so our preference is to wait a bit and get a seat.

Buses to and from MK have been great. I have no complaints there, it’s been everywhere else that has been kind of slow. Also them being packed full. We should of rented a car, but honestly my husband and I can’t remember a time the buses were this full and we typically come in summer. I’m 7months pregnant, so standing is just very difficult on the bus and makes me super nervous. Only once and has someone offered me their seat, and you can visibly see I’m pregnant. I don’t expect someone to offer me their seat either for the record. I just really didn’t expect having to stand every time we got on a bus.

Checked out today and heading to our cruise. We were in room 7222 in the 80s - it was a handicapped accessible room. Not ideal for us, but our original room assignment was in the 50s, and we were able to get this one instead.

Generally, our stay here was ok, but it was a lot louder than we were used to... both outside and within the room.

Buses have been fine. Construction still happening - loud by the bowling pin pool today and appears to be workers in building 3 of the 50s, so making progress.

Glad we tried this, but I am not sure we will be back. AKL spoiled us, I think!
