Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I was there from 12/5 - 12/16 and didn't have any bus issues at all. No waits longer than the typical 20 minutes, and most were shorter. I only had to stand on a bus one time, and it wasn't a super packed bus - if there hadn't been a couple ECVs everyone could have probably been seated. I think a lot of it depends on luck though. We seem to have a sixth sense regarding when to go to the bus stop (wish it worked on the lottery . . .).

I'm not sure what will happen in regards to cleaning the floors, but they need to get that under control. There's a very fine black dirt in the air here that settles on everything - cars, roofs (I have a white tile roof and fight it like the dickens), and unfortunately floors. I have a small steamer with washable pads I use at home to keep things clean. I am really surprised they didn't go a route like that at Pop - environmentally friendly while keeping the floors clean. I stayed at BWV with hard floors though and I didn't have dirty socks or feet so they must be doing something different there. I wasn't in the room when housekeeping came at BWV, but I was on five different occasions at Pop, and the only thing I saw on the cart and the only thing that was used in my room was a dry Swiffer. I'm sure they have a few mops somewhere to take care of the occasional "protein spill" and such, but they really need to wet mop the floors to get rid of the dirt. The dirt is so fine that it gets in the grooves of the texture on the floor and the dry Swiffer just isn't getting it out.
I've stayed at pop numerous times and haven't ever had an issue with the bus system and I've heard it's one of the best.

Thinking of booking a Pop stay Dec 5-12, 2018. I know Pop Warner falls during part of this week and I know some Pop Warner kids stay at Pop Century. Can anyone chime in on experiences with this?

I've stayed a couple of times at the same time as the pop warner sb and it's never a big deal, the biggest thing I've encountered is that the cheer comp is on at the same time and they rove around like packs of wild animals making all sorts of noise, but it's only first thing in the morning on their way out. Nothing I wouldn't stop staying there about.

We stayed Dec. 13 - 19 and loved the new refurb room.

It was my first trip needing a wheelchair, and our requests for first floor, 70s, and connecting rooms was met. Hubby and I were in one room, grown kids with their fiances in the other, so our murphy bed stayed up and provided tons of room for my chair. We liked everything about the room, especially the masses of storage. The raised beds and furniture on legs allowed us to slide all of our luggage out of the way, but easily accessible. Our room felt very clean, but then our socks start out gray. We have laminate at home, so the hardness wasn't an issue with us, even with my fractured pelvis in the mix. I will say the beds are a bit high -- I was climbing in each night with a bit of effort. But so comfy and a million really nice pillows. The shower was fantastic and I loved the barn door on the bathroom, since there's a small nightlight built in and I could shut off the light coming into the bedroom with the door.

We had great bus service on every trip, save one insanely long 40 minute wait in the middle of the afternoon trying to get back to Pop from Studios. The bus driver who picked us up was apologizing profusely the entire way back, so clearly an anomaly.

We've already booked a return trip for the first week of Dec. 2018.

Hoping someone can help me regarding a fridge question at POP.
Will a gallon of milk fit in the fridge? I would like to have breakfast stuff delivered to our room but I am unsure if milk will fit.

I do have to say that the fine layer of black dirt on the floors is a huge disappointment. Not sure I want a refurbished room. Are they all like that? Would a higher floor be better?

Curious too -

I suppose I could forgo Mousekeeping, take the savings from that and have Amazon deliver a cheap wet swiffer to my room and run over it a few times myself.

SURELY Disney has seen and heard these complaints and will address the dirty floors. They've invested so much money on the renovations to let this occur.

Just back from the tropics to the sub zero last night. Didn't opt out of housekeeping, but it seemed minimal. I had to call for extra toiletries, but a large supply was brought promptly. My husband was the one who noticed the dirty floor on the bottom of his bare feet. I went down to the front desk to comment on that, as well as fixing magic bands to unlock the doors. I've never had a problem with this before, but with this trip I was at the front desk frequently. No problems with buses. I was able to swap dessert for a drink on the dining plan at POP. Just check with a register CM prior to purchase and go to them when you have all your food. I asked a manager and the tag line is always no. Some register CMs follow this rule. Other resorts, swapping doesn't seem to be a problem. They almost seem happy to do it.

Just curious as there is so much discussion about the fine layer of dirt on the floors. Are there any Orlando locals on this tread? Is it something that is common in the area or is it what people are tracking in on their feet or improper materials being used for cleaning?

We live in Canada and almost everyone takes off their outdoor footwear at the door (winter and summer) to save tracking things indoors but it sounds like not even that will help in the new rooms.

I was at POP in September in a refurbished room and we didn't notice any dirt on the floors ever. Everyday when we returned the floor had been swept and washed and everything on the floor was straightened up. I can't say I noticed an issue at all with the floors. I'm heading back in March and hope that this is still the case

Do they still allow (or even do) the AOA drawing classes? I wanted to walk over from POP one morning during my April stay to do it but wasn't sure they still hold them, or if they allow POP guests to partake.

They still do them and everyone is invited.(not sure of the current schedule).:)

Yes they still have them. They are open to anyone, staying at AoA or not.

I don't understand why so many people in here say the floors are an issue. Yet, you had no problems. Were you on an upper floor?

We’ll be at Pop in 2 weeks. I’ll be sure to report back on this floor situation if we get a refurbished room!

I want to do one in February too! Even if I’m the only one that goes I want to try it lol
