Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I wonder why they don't list "Third Floor".

My guess is that since 4th floor is the most popular floor requested (for quiet and possible view of the fireworks) that "highest floor" would be 3rd or 4th floor, whichever is available. But that is really just my guess.
I think if this were me going in January, I would either request 60's + your floor preference since all 60's standard rooms are lake view OR 70's + lake view if you don't have a floor preference. I think you will be happy with either of those choices.

Third floor is concierge level...can't be requested. ;)

But seriously, I am not entirely clear on the the online request listing choices. I bet they just can't fit it into the coded listings for Pop. Meanwhile over at ASMo, "Fantastia" is omitted entirely.

I would definitely call and add your requests to your reservation and list them in order of your most important. If you have a floor preference and you have decided between 60's or 70's, I would also check off your 2 requests during on-line check in. Just make sure what you add to your reservation and what you check off during on-line check in match so it doesn't confuse the room assigners. Good luck! I hope you get the perfect room!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all your suggestions!

What are the beds like? I know they're doubles and not queens, but I was wondering if the mattresses are hard? DH has a bad back and a very firm mattress is not his friend. :sad2:

I found the Sealy mattress in my building 1 room (last month) to be very comfortable -- I miss it! It wasn't a pillow top, but to me it had some of the plush qualities of a pillow top.

My hubby has trouble with his back at times but he had no trouble with the beds at POP.

I have had 2 back surgeries. #2 didn't go so well... :'(
They aren't the plushest mattresses in the world but I am not complaining. And I don't generally sleep well. They are reasonably comfortable. I manage while I am there. :)

Coffee options please. Bring small one ? What type ?
Carry mugs to park ?
First stay without one

Hi everyone. I know I said I would come back and let you know if my room request fax worked.

I requested a king bed first and foremost. I then said I understood that king beds were really hard to get at Pop, so if that wouldn't work out, we just wanted top floor, close to transportation, 80s. (Those last three requests were also my choices during online check-in. Don't ask how I got to choose three things - I have no idea how that happened!)

I got a text a while ago letting us know we were in the 70s. We did get top floor and I feel that the building we are in is pretty darn close to transportation.

Just a little disappointed about the king bed, but I know that wasn't likely. I was just hoping for some pixie dust from doing a faxed request.

When I thought more about why they might have given us the 70s, I remembered that a long while ago when I booked our reservation, I was more concerned about being close to the buses and requested the 80s and 70s buildings closest to transportation. At the time I did not realize that one of the buildings (I think?) didn't have king beds.

So I guess what I learned is that perhaps your phoned initial requests are the most important.

I'm hoping we'll like the 70s? Definitely not a decade I'm partial to in any way... Anyone really like the 70s areas in particular?

Need quick answers to this one - if we visit the front desk and ask if a king bed room would be available tomorrow for us, do you think that would be likely? We were thinking about asking that... We have about 50 minutes left on our flight, so fast responses would be great.

Thanks!

This is the coffeemaker I use for travel, it's a Black & Decker Single Serve. I got it from Walmart for $16.97. DH doesn't drink coffee so it's perfect for me. It's about 12 inches high and weighs about 2 pounds so it's light and pretty compact. The mug is insulated and keeps coffee hot for longer than I expected. :)

I would say there is no harm in asking! The worst thing they'll say is that there are no kings available! You can also ask if one comes available during your stay and if you can change rooms. Once we had to change rooms in the middle of our stay and they were very accommodating (maintenance issue). It was done in a matter of minutes and I was given a temp key for my current room. The maintenance staff even helped carry my bags to our new room!

I enjoyed staying in the 70s. I was in the Mickey Phone building with a lake view. Hardly any noise and then a quick walk to Classic Hall or Art of Animation if I wanted to head over there to eat (or if the AoA bus came first at the parks!). That building and the 50s are my personal favorites!

Where did you hear that there was a building with no king rooms???
They look at faxes but that is their least preferred choice for people to put in requests. They would much rather people have them in their original ressies or add them when they do online check in. It becomes very problematic when people do multiple ways and they aren't identical. They never know what is most important at that point.
70's is a GREAT location!!!! Close to food court and transportation and QUIET!!! ;)

GUESS WHAT?! We arrived at the resort and went straight to the front desk for a birthday button for DH and to simply ask about a king room and if one would become available during our stay. The CM smiled and said, "There's a king bed waiting for you." :hyper: I can't believe our luck!!!

We didn't have a ton of time to wander the resort, but I think it looks pretty fun! Our room is honestly exactly what we needed space-wise. We're still in the 70s. I have honestly heard almost no noise at all. I thought it would get noisy as parks closed and people returned, but nope.

I couldn't be happier. Pop Century has made a great impression on me so far. Now, off to Epcot! :thumbsup2

I didn't get a chance to respond earlier but.......YAY!!!! We love the 70's section and it is close to transportation and IMHO, the quietest section since there is no pool! ENJOY your stay and have a great trip!

Can anyone confirm if the sell the 24 packs of bottled water at Everything POP? And if so what is the price? Thanks so much!!
