Only four days for me! SOOOO EXCITED!!! I'll be so interested to see if my room request fax will give us some pixie dust....

Did you use the TP fax or did you fax it yourself?
Please come back and let us know if it worked!
Have fun!!!

Is it a January trip?

The Fifteens will be there if that is a big deal to you(I "think" they try to put them mostly in the 80s and 90s).:)
Are they there the whole month, the beginning, or the end?

I would word your request "60's or 70's", "Lake View" and "ground floor". I would list them in the order of importance.

Thank you!

Forgive my ignorance, but what are "The Fifteens"? Anything like the Pop Warner nightmare? :scared:

ETA: Yes, it's a January/February trip. Our dates are January 19 - February 9.

It is groups of thousands and thousands of 15 yr old young ladies from Argentina, Brazil, Chili, etc celebrating their Quincernera. They don't only stay at POP, they stay at all the value resorts and some of the groups stay for 2+ weeks. They are extremely rude and act like they own the entire section of the resort that they are in and they take over the main pool at times. They have no consideration for others while they are there, and whichever park they go to on that day is miserable. You can google "the fifteens" and there are several websites that discuss the havoc they have on Disney World while they are there. If they are in the food court, you won't be able to eat there, if you are at the same park as they are for the day, it will be miserable. They are normally there in groups of thousands (or at least it seems that way) from the 2nd/3rd week in January thru the 3rd week in February, depending on when the week is that their group is set up for. They have their own webpage/facebook page too (but it is in all Spanish). Not all go at the same time, it depends on when their winter break is for their school so different groups of the fifteens are there for several weeks in a row (simular to Spring Breaks in the U.S. but on rude/hateful steroids :rotfl:) . 2 years ago we checked out on January 5th and as we were leaving, they were coming in! The whole entire Classic Hall and food court was filled with them and we couldn't even get through to get on the ME bus. They truly would not let us get through. We had to turn around walk around the building. I would recommend that if you are going in January or February that you do your research, request 50's, 60's or 70's section (they are normally in the 80's/90's section) and try and find out what days they will be in each park, even if you have to approach one of their chaperones to get their schedule.

YIKES!! That sounds completely awful! Thank you so much for this information, forewarned is forearmed!

This is definitely a new learning experience, LOL. This is the first time we've gone in January, usually we go in late fall but for various reasons we weren't able to this year. So maybe I should now change my room request to "anything but the 80's/90's"!

I have been informed that they are also now placed in the 50's too. I found out that any large group (Brazilians, 15s, cheerleaders, etc....) can now be put in the 50's just as likely as the 80's / 90's.
50's was my favorite and I didn't understand why I was moved from my favorite area. I have 131 nights at POP and have become 'friends' with some of the staff. They assigned me to the 70's my last two trips (both this year). At first, I wasn't thrilled but now after 2 trips in the 70's, I actually really like it. I generally don't use the pool and I like the quiet and I get quiet there! :)

What type of room do you have reserved? Truly, I would request 50's or 70's. I don't think they would come to the 50's for a pool since they have one in the 80's/90's section and if that one is too crowded, they normally take over the hippy dippy pool. 70's does not have a pool so I think you would be ok there too. I would stay away from 60's, 80's or 90's. If you are booked standard, I would recommend you request lake view to keep you on the back side of the resort. 70's lake view is still a quick walk to the food court and transportation and so is 50's building 3 but building 2 has some lake view rooms and that can be a pretty good trek to the food court and transportation. These are just my own personal opinions and some other Disboard friends may chime in :goodvibes

Great to know stitchlovestink! I agree, I love the 70's section. It is quieter since there is no pool and close to Classic Hall!
MrsB1228- I think 70's section would be your safest location after this new information.

The fifteen's must either book standard pool or since POP knows they are all together, they try and assign them in the same area's.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions Spoerlx3 and Stitchlovestink! I will definitely be asking for 70's lake view! One other question if you don't mind - what are the elevators like? Slow? Crowded? How many are there per building? We'd probably be fine with a top floor room (quieter) as long as we could use the elevators. Are they a pain to use?

ETA: I have a Standard room booked.

There is a bank of two elevators in the center of each building.

In my experience at Pop in the 50's section, the elevators were easy to use. I didn't experience any crowding nor any slowness.

2 elevators per bldg. Drawback, they aren't (or weren't last time I used one) air conditioned. So they can be stifiling at times.
One trip, both elevators in the same bldg were out of service at the same time! Luckily, I was ground floor but there was a poor lady who was on an EVC who couldn't manage stairs and was not able to get to her room. They had maitenance there working on the situation immediately. I am sure that is a rarity!!! But I witnessed it. :/

I agree with stitchlovestink that they are not air conditioned but that shouldn't be a problem in January.
I have had no trouble with the elevators and we have stayed on all floors. If you have a floor preference, since you are booked standard, you could request 60's and your floor preference since ALL of the standard rooms in 60's are lake view. That would put you on the back side of the 60's building and far enough from the pool and all the fifteens. Just a thought :thumbsup2
