Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I am curious about this. We have 2 rooms booked for May though a TA using a "convention rate" and wondering if this will be the same for us as well. I was really hoping to be able to decline housekeeping and get a gift card for each room.
I’m not sure if it’s all TAs or just certain ones. We booked with a “magical” rate and weren’t allowed to decline housekeeping

Here now. Plane arrived at MCO around 6:30 pm and got to resort by 7:30 and still waiting for luggage! I called “ “luggage” at 10:30 and I was told they were still in their 5 hour window. I was also told my luggage was on way to resort and now it’s 1:25 am and still no luggage. I called again and was told a manager would be calling me. No one called me back.
Luggage was just now delivered. It’s 1:42 am!
That’s why we always take care of our own luggage.

thinking of booking a preferred room over standard room -- other than location are there any other differences in the room category? Its only $135 more to book preferred over standard -- WWYD?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. In other words..I completely agree. Some people do truly seem determined to find reason to complain about every little thing and blow it out of proportion. For the most part we've never had any issues with the buses and don't find that they cost us tons of time. We also opt to even wait for the next bus to sit, which we certainly wouldn't be as inclined to do if there was a terrible wait for the next bus.

Without exception the times we find the bus lines to be worse are immediately after any evening show at any park. We've started trying to take as long as possible to leave the parks after the last show to avoid the crowds all clamoring to get out at the same time. It makes for a leisurely walk and a much less crowded park to enjoy in the last moments of each day. But getting to the parks in the morning typically goes smoothly for us. :)

Thank you!!!! We will definitely give it a go :) I figured if we get there too early and have to wait a bit for rope drop, we'll just take our breakfast with us and relax outside the gates, take pics, and eat.

We usually bring granola bars and bananas with to eat and make conversation with the people next to us

Late AM/Early PM of course are the best times when most Guests are in the Parks.

At night when everyone returns from the Parks is the most busy Laundry time, but even then, there are usually open machines at one of the 3 Laundries(with Bowling Pool and Computer Pool being the less "in demand") UNLESS you go in January/February/July and run into 15s at every Laundry washing their Tour Shirts for the next day!(happened to us at All-Star Sports last July)lol:)

That happened to us at Pop last July. 15’s everywhere doing laundry. Someone left their clothes in the washer long after it was done. A family folding their clothes after drying them saw me look at the full washer and told me they took those clothes out and used that washer and returned the clothes to it so I did the same. There is even a website that tells you when your laundry is done and also tells you if there are empty machines so that is helpful. I forget the website though so that is not helpful. Sorry

Had a similar experience coming back from MK late at night. We were on a double expansion bus. It was very quiet (everyone was tired). Ghost Busters them song came on. It remained quiet until the line "Who you gonna call?". Then the entire bus shouted "Ghost Busters"! And they we all sang until we got back to POP. What a great way to end the day! :thumbsup2
Awesome!

I know Disney is all about the "Theme",so of course the bus Soundtracks are themed for the Resort they are servicing at the time, but I think if Disney would just make the POP Sountrack "standard" for all Resort buses, the Guests would LOVE it!:)

I would choose preferred. I like being closer to transportation and the food court. I’m spoiled with it now and never want a standard room! I don’t know of any other differences other than location.

Honestly I would save the money. $135 can pay for a decent amount of food, or Memory Maker instead. I only ever book Standard because I've found that Pop's grounds are so small it hardly even matters. I'm all about saving money on a room that I can use elsewhere, but I've also never experienced any major issue in terms of the walk from any part of the Standard sections (I've stayed 90s, 70s, and 50s).

Agreed! There are other resorts that I would probably pay for preferred but Pop isn't one of them.

we are going in August so I was thinking prefer room due to the heat but you say the resort isnt that big? 2013 we stayed at coronado springs and that resort was very large!

I've stayed at Coronado as well, Pop is nowhere near as spread out as CSR. Plus depending on where you are there's a decent amount of shade.
