We stayed at POP June 27-July 4th. We booked a preferred room and requested 60's & ground floor and got room 5105, which I consider to be an absolutely perfect location for us. It was close to the pool and the main building while still having a little distance from the noise of the pool parties in the afternoon.
Room 5105 is a connecting room (we did not use the connection), tub and shower combo, two queens.
I absolutely loved the design of the new rooms. There were four of us all in one room, and I had my concerns about that, but all the storage options in these new rooms really makes them very "livable" I found cubby spaces for everything. I also liked that we could fold up the murphy bed in the morning to give us more room to move around as we got ready, or give us a table if the kids wanted to sit and have a bite of breakfast to eat.
The room seemed quiet. There was one night when I heard a little noise coming from the room connecting, but it was not much and it was quickly gone. I was worried about the hard floors being noisy, but they have a lot of padding in them, so I think this mitigates noise. I did not notice too much noise from anywhere. Our room at the Polynesian was actually a lot worse in terms of being able to hear neighbors and people above us.
I liked the design of the bathrooms, including the sliding barn door to the sink area (slow close, so no pinched fingers if you have little ones), and the pocket door to the toilet/shower.
One thing I HATED about the new rooms was the fan in the bathroom. It is on some sort of motion trigger, so it turns off when you are showering because it cannot register your movement in the shower. I would think this would be an enormous mold/mildew issue for central Florida. It also turns off quickly after you are done doing your, um, "business" in the bathroom, so if a person leaves a "scent," one needs to keep going back in there to do a little dance to keep the fan turning back on to clear it. Ugh SO annoying. Terrible design. I also found the light in the toilet/shower area to be lacking. I think they should replace the bathroom fans with new light/fan combos with a switch.
POP bus service was almost flawless until the very last night when we tried to return from MK after extra magic hours (2am). I don't know what the issue was, but huge lines for Pop when all other resort bus queues were loading and going. Anyway, we got back eventually.
Food in the cafeteria was decent Disney resort food. We did have some 15 tour groups arrive while we were there (surprised me that they would choose July 4th week to visit). They did not bother us too much unless we were coming back on the bus at closing time and needing something to eat. Then the large crowds of them got to be a bit much. But they were always pleasant and respectful when we met a group of them in the parks. We did not see them in the resort much outside of the cafeteria area.
All in all we had a great time at POP and I would absolutely return
