Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Personally, I'd stay away from immediate adjacency to the elevators. They're the new kind that not only have a ring tone when the elevator opens but also an English announcement ("Seventh Floor!"). Ugh.

But, perhaps the soundproofing is so good it's negligible. Someone needs to report back!
I believe this is due to ADA, so if you are blind or sight impaired, you know the floor the elevator has stopped at.

Quick question- does the Hawaii building rooms all have a balcony/patio?

First floor patios, third floor balconies, the second floor does not have an outdoor space (just a sliding balcony door with the railing right up against it).

I find the second floor rooms less desirable due to this and I managed to avoid them for years. When I finally did get one I was a little bummed at first, but then ultimately had a ‘not as bad as I expected’ mindset about them.

While @GADisneyDad14 covered the basics for the Hawaii building. The Hawaii building was part of the original Polly longhouses, and suffered from the same building style from the late 60s.

At least the original Poly longhouses did not follow the original plan and not have any balconies on the 3rd floor as they built for the CR North Garden (replace by BLT) or the CR South Garden wing. At the CR there were no balconies on the 2nd or 3rd floor rooms in the Garden wing.

The (3) later longhouses that are now DVC were built in 1978 Ohau (now Tokelau), and in 1985 Moorea, Pago Pago, and Tokelau longhouses were converted to DVC in 2013-2015.

Thanks. I do feel better knowing we can open the sliders and get that “indoor/outsoor” feel. Also, we have a “resort view.” I think it would be much more important to have a balcony if we wanted to watch the fireworks from our room.

I love hearing the history of WDW resorts. Poly is the last remaining deluxe to add to my roster of resort stays. Actually, I take that back…. Riviera also.
Thank you for the info!

I do enjoy 1st floor. I didn’t think I would , but so much space above? Feels nice. Hawaii is pretty far from paths so kinda nice. 3rd floor is nice too but darker and more enclosed.

Thank you! I’m so looking forward to the trip and since it’s my first time at Poly, I’ll find what I think I’ll like for next time! While usually I like an upper floor, I think in this case a first floor room might be perfect!❤️

Stopped to Poly for dinner at Kona. Tree upstairs and downstairs in the lobby. Plus my steak! Yum!

Dd ordered the kids meal sushi. She never has issues doing that fyi.

HS, AK and MK all had Christmas still up! Loved it! GF and CR did not so it was nice poly did. Also I could see Hawaii still theirs up as well

Now that Wailulu is accepting ADR's, will they still seat you if you show up without one? The day we land, I'd like to grab a burger, but we aren't sure when we'll get to the hotel, and I don't know how many of us would want to go, so it's double tough to make a reservation. It'll be in about a week.

I’m running the Princess Half in February and staying at Poly Tower (standard 2 bedroom). Does anyone know if we have a balcony facing the parking lot, if my family will be able to watch me from there ? Assuming the route is the same as this past weekend. Will they be allowed at the GF viewing area if not ? Thanks!

Sorry but that will never work. While it sounds good if your staying a one of the (3) Monorail resorts, it is not logistically possible in 2025.

Dave
If they could implant chips in our head with all the information about hotel, tower or not, floor we're on for smart elevators, dining reservations, park reservations, credit cards, and an AI that listens to us 'Poly: We need more towels, Poly: Put us on the waiting list for Trader Sams' ... it would be so much more convenient and quicker. And the monorails would be less crowded. :)

Sure, everyone that visits Disney will need surgery to implant the chips. Boo hoo for the complainers.
