Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Personally, I'd stay away from immediate adjacency to the elevators. They're the new kind that not only have a ring tone when the elevator opens but also an English announcement ("Seventh Floor!"). Ugh.

But, perhaps the soundproofing is so good it's negligible. Someone needs to report back!
I believe this is due to ADA, so if you are blind or sight impaired, you know the floor the elevator has stopped at.

Quick question- does the Hawaii building rooms all have a balcony/patio?

First floor patios, third floor balconies, the second floor does not have an outdoor space (just a sliding balcony door with the railing right up against it).

I find the second floor rooms less desirable due to this and I managed to avoid them for years. When I finally did get one I was a little bummed at first, but then ultimately had a ‘not as bad as I expected’ mindset about them.

While @GADisneyDad14 covered the basics for the Hawaii building. The Hawaii building was part of the original Polly longhouses, and suffered from the same building style from the late 60s.

At least the original Poly longhouses did not follow the original plan and not have any balconies on the 3rd floor as they built for the CR North Garden (replace by BLT) or the CR South Garden wing. At the CR there were no balconies on the 2nd or 3rd floor rooms in the Garden wing.

The (3) later longhouses that are now DVC were built in 1978 Ohau (now Tokelau), and in 1985 Moorea, Pago Pago, and Tokelau longhouses were converted to DVC in 2013-2015.

Thanks. I do feel better knowing we can open the sliders and get that “indoor/outsoor” feel. Also, we have a “resort view.” I think it would be much more important to have a balcony if we wanted to watch the fireworks from our room.

I love hearing the history of WDW resorts. Poly is the last remaining deluxe to add to my roster of resort stays. Actually, I take that back…. Riviera also.
Thank you for the info!
