Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

You were able to pay monthly, up until the end of this year monthly using gift cards. However, starting 2025, the only way you can pay with gift cards is if you pay in full. This change was just announced a couple weeks ago. See article HERE.
Ok thanks. I was under the impression from what I saw people saying was that you could still pay monthly with gift cards just not with auto pay.

I’m going by what DVC News posted which is:

Disney Gift Cards can still be used to pay DVC annual dues. However the owner must withdraw from the monthly payment plan and submit the full 2025 balance by February 15.”

Just some addition information. The walkway between GF and MK has a Gate that is locked overnight and a CM must unlock it in the morning when the MK Security Checkpoint is ready to scan Guests.

Dave
When do they open up in the morning?

We have deluxe standard view studios at the tower - I just noticed that they now had regular rooms at the Polynesian open up at the same price - never stayed at the hotel side either….wonder if we should switch or stick with the new tower?

Watch some of the videos on YouTube about the new Tower. Then you can make a decision. If you want a kitchenette, then stay with the studio. A regular room won't have the microwave and a mini fridge (regular non DVC rooms usually have a beverage cooler). I have a Poly Longhouse studio booked later on this year and I was thinking about changing to the Tower. After watching, I am keeping my original reservation. More options at the Poly for food, gift shops (can't believe no shop at the Tower), and I just prefer the decor. YMMV. I am worried about the increase in traffic at the Poly, it was pretty busy before the Tower opened and now with them sharing a lot of amenities, it will be interesting. Glad the walkway to the MK is back open! More non-Monorail options are good.

Stick with the new tower. When AOA opened up we got a deal for $189 (Disney visa cardholder) for the AOA suites. They went up to $500 and now rarely below $650 a night.

It would have been nice if the Tower pool had a water slide or pool bar (unless I am wrong with some of the reviews I have seen) to potentially ease the Lava Pool crowds but alas the Lava Pool is going to be that much more crowded and chairs harder to find. Sure the Moana splashpad is cool but (I might be generalizing) if given the choice of a leisure pool with some nice esthetics (and apparently no lifeguard since it is a leisure pool) and a waterslide coming out of a volcano with Spiky Pineapples at their disposal I think most families would choose the latter.

Ahh, we like both - never stayed at the Polynesian before and thought we should stay at the “traditional” side first but then again, the Tower is still the Polynesian and it is brand new and looks beautiful. We did get a the current discount on the tower which will probably be non-existent in the future (or hard to get). The discount on the Polynesian rooms is the same which is also hard to get but the tower will probably have less availability in the future.

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either. It will be good to hear additional feedback from people who have experienced the Tower.

I noticed something about Wailulu's hours when I was checking the Menu items out. The Sign outside of Wailulu indicates Breakfast is 7 AM - 11 AM. In MDE the listings shows Breakfast 7:30 AM - 11 AM. I think someone has been sampling the Bar Menu.

The tower seems more modern (obviously) and while I usually would choose the hotel side over DVC (we don’t really need any type of kitchen) these rooms are almost guaranteed to be in great shape in February. Plus, no matter what, you have to walk outside to the main building anyway if needed. I was just wondering if a resort view at the hotel side might be nicer than what the tower will offer but there’s no way of knowing.

Great find thanks for sharing.

It appears to have a new bug introduced in the Touringplans Room Map when searching for 2 Bedroom Lockoff units. @lentesta it shows the 3 other DVC buildings with the Deluxe Studios as 2 Bedroom Lockoff matches along with the new Island Tower units.

ETA: I think I found a bug in the Room Map.

Oh, I'll look at that. Thanks Dave!

Stayed in a Deluxe Tower Studio (8662) on opening night. Loved it. It's a Preferred View, but the 8x62 balconies are set up so the short side faces the MK. Absolutely perfect views of the evening fireworks.

One odd thing I noticed is that my room didn't have USB chargers at the bed. The 1BR and 2BR I saw did. So bring your bricks, kids.

We should have room view photos up in a few days.
