Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

We have deluxe standard view studios at the tower - I just noticed that they now had regular rooms at the Polynesian open up at the same price - never stayed at the hotel side either….wonder if we should switch or stick with the new tower?
Stick with the new tower before the rooms get worn and not kept up with.

We just stayed in Moorea and we were so disappointed by the room. I actually can't believe the housekeeper that cleaned it before we checked in allowed it open for guests.

There were many little things wrong with the room, but also two major things (sliding bathroom door off tracks and propped so far out in the entrance that we couldn't roll our luggage past/ no running water in wet bar sink,,,how did the housekeeper clean the coffee pot?)

Sorry to hear that about your room. Definitely sticking with the tower!

Oh, and it looks like these rooms are being used for DVC models and not currently in inventory:

8208, 8212, 8216, 8232, 8234

I saw CMs going in and out of them during the day, and they've got a special "Disney Vacation Club" badge on the door.

I was just following this thread and saw your name. I used your room request for our AKL stay and got the room we requested through your site, so thank you!

I have some photos of the room view if you'd like, very nice. It's a pool view, room 4020. Let me know if you need and I can send or upload somehow.

Did you request engineering? Usually Disney responds pretty quick to requests.

*you can call from the room but I prefer to go to the front desk.

I have been wanting to post my experience, but didn't want to bring the group down. The mood here is so celebratory (and rightly so) with the new tower opening. The Polynesian has always been my favorite, but I don't know if I will ever stay there again.

It wasn't just the room. Little things like wanting to book a patio rental at the Oasis Pool. Called the number, and nobody answered in recreation. I left a message. No return call in an hour. Went to pool bar to inquire, cast member said "Yeah. They never answer. Go inside and ask at front desk." Walked to main building, waited in a long line to talk to someone. Finally my turn and the front desk cast member said they had no idea how to book the cabana. They told me to go back to the pool and "find someone with navy shorts". This went went on and on. And, again, this was just one of many incidents.

We also had people that used the hallway as an extension of their room. So ECVs and strollers were all up and down the hallway. That may be something I am sensitive to though, since I have always wondered how that is not a fire hazard. Also, a used diaper either was thrown out of a room, or fell out of a stroller (why would you be wheeling around a used diaper?) and it laid in the hallway for a day. Disgusting and just plain trashy.

Of course! I couldn't imagine using the toilet with out a door being closed. They came 2 hours and 20 minutes later. They didn't have the part that they needed to fix it, so had to come back. It was not a great way to start the vacation, but the guy fixing it was so sweet. We had a good time talking to him, so I guess everything happens for a reason.

As for the water not turning on, we didn't find that out until later on in the evening. And by that time, we were over it all. Just disgusted. We didn't call for the sink at all. We didn't want people in and out that night and the next day just decided to just make due with no running water in the kitchenette. That was on us for not reporting the sink, so I can only complain about housekeeping not reporting these issues and clearing the room for occupancy.

Thank you! Centralized Inventory Management does fantastic work with room requests.

Yes, please send the photos and room number to hotel_photos at touringplans.com. I appreciate it!

I tried searching through this thread so I apologize if this has been asked and/or answered, but does anyone know the designers? I know there was a tattoo artist involved and I'm trying to figure out who that was

Joshua Elsis is the name that comes up when I google "tattoo artist who worked on Disney's Polynesian Island Tower".

I can’t find it quickly but the video series Disney put out a month or so ago on various elements of the Tower has the different artists in it. It’s a great watch if you can find it.

Hello everyone!

I wanted to ask this group what their favorite room requests on the DVC side of the resort is. My family is staying there with 3 studios next year and wanted to get a good idea on what a recommended room request would be. I've stayed in the DVC side of the resort once in the Tokelau building on the 3rd floor and had a great experience. I was thinking of requesting the Tokelau building again, requesting for the 3rd or 1st floor for our 3 studios.

Does anyone have some additional room request suggestions or tips and tricks with requesting them?

We're staying there next year for the first time and are requesting Tokelau for the location. It's very convenient to the Oasis pool, transportation and the GCH.
