Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Hi there everyone, I know that most times non-Poly guests can walk out to the Poly beach to view MK fireworks, but is that also the case for New Years Eve? Do they restrict access on that night typically? TIA!

Pretty sure the main dates they restrict are NYE and 4th of July.

They distribute wristbands to Poly guests on the 31st. There is no beach access without the wristbands.

I agree. I wonder if that will change with the new bldg opening
Not very likely since it has not returned at any resort except the GF after Covid.

Note: technically the Private Dinning at GF returned during the NBA Bubble during Covid and and the Private Dinning that returned at the other Properties supporting the NBA Bubble closed after the NBA teams left WDW.

View attachment 910024I was over at the Poly yesterday and took a walk around the lake shore where the bungalows are. This picture is looking back over the marina area to the new Tower building.

This is one of these eye-roll Disney fan comments I admit, but I'm a sight lines guy and this glimpse you see of some mechanical components/ductwork bugs me. I'm HOPING the final product has appropriate screening, but we'll see. I don't know how much control Disney had over it but there's some of the same on top of the Swan Reserve - easily visible roof mechanical stuff. Bugs the crap out of me every time I look at it.

Sorry, rant over. 😇

Tower is really coming together. 40 days to go.

This is the old Blue Ribbon Corn Dog kitchen exhaust hood issue all over again. I agree with you on what may seem minor is a major concern for some Guests like us. On a flat room it is much harder screen without using an artificial "roof screen" that was included in the design.

Trying to figure out room request for Water View room. What is the best of this category? High Floor lagoon facing but not considered theme park..do any of those exist? Also, what marina view have people enjoyed?

Yes these views exist on the 3rd floor of a couple of buildings. Any TPV room would be excluded from your Water View category. All of the water view rooms would be of the Marina / Lagoon or the pool.

When are you going as since the Fiji Standard view rooms are about to become water view (pool at Island Tower)? The most popular Water views would be the Samoa bldg and the Fiji normal water view that is the Marina.

My bestfriend is taking her family in late February for their second time. She became hooked after their first visit last year and they have really high expectations of the Poly. I know how disparate the category is though so trying to give her the best advice for a room request. I was worried Samoa over the walkway looking towards Lava would be loud. Wondering which building has best chance for a peak of theme park view. I think the Marina view you mentioned in Fiji might be the most "magical" for feeling the poly vibe maybe. Thanks

The new Island Tower restaurant is now listed online. Menu isn’t posted yet. Notable, the 12/17 opening confirmation.
