Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Where does Lyft/Uber pickup at Poly?

Lyft will prompt you for Main Lobby (Great Ceremonial House) or Pago Pago. Uber doesn’t give the same prompt, the main search result for Polynesian points it to the main lobby. One reason why I like using Lyft when at Disney, better association with the technology/Disney given their corporate relationship.

We are headed back to the Poly for the first time about 5 years. The last time we stayed, it was before all the renovations. I know the DVC tower is still under construction, but other than that, is there any construction in the Grand Ceremonial House, or is all that finished?

Nothing currently in/around the GCH. They are repainting the longhouses and when I was there last week they were digging out a section of concrete by the Oasis Pool and Samoa. So yes, general work around the resort, but nothing all that bad (the concrete part was bad but didn’t look like something that would go on for too long).

One thing we all need to keep an eye out for is the new entrance and changes to the bus station are going to gear up here at some point and those have the potential to be messy/annoying. The work out on Floridian Drive is already at sort of peak ugly right now. As that project expands to the entrance we’re inevitably in for less ideal conditions for a bit when it comes to the roadways/entrances.

I asked on the resort discount area but if anyone calls can you ask if the Bounceback applies to the tower?
🤞🏻
When I called today--Bianca (CM) said as long as there is availability and you are booking a bounceback from a "cash room stay", the tower rooms will be eligible. I didn't test it out by having her check specific dates for availability though, sorry.

Thank you!

Just got back from a very nice stay at the Polynesian. Our Resort View room was on the first floor in the Aotearoa building facing the monorail. We liked the location a lot as it was close to the main building, close to the boat dock and found it very quiet at night and during the day for breaks.

View from porch, there was some work going on there during the day, but it never bothered us.

We ate at Captain Cooks for most breakfasts. I like the look of the dining room and the travel posters - one for each island that the buildings are named for

We also really like Kona Cafe and ended up eating there three times - one breakfast and twice for lunch

Lunch was potstickers and stir fry. And of course the bread pudding

The Polynesian platter for breakfast.

On our last night, there was a fire alarm in the main building and so we ended up eating by the Oasis pool and ordered food from the Oasis Bar and Grill. It was such a nice, quiet, relaxing place to eat.

The Oasis bar is lowkey one of my favorite QS spots on property, not just my favorite pool bar. I love the salad there with the edamame, it's so light and refreshing on a hot day.

Staying at the Poly (water view) for July 3rd. We are just there a night for a resort staycation, swim, and see the fireworks before moving to Beach Club on the 4th. Is Samoa or Fiji better to request? We know we won't have a view of the theme park to watch the fireworks from our room, unless there are "hidden" rooms I'm not aware of! Thanks!!

Sometimes when you make a request you get a room kind of late.

You could wait until you arrive and check in at the desk and ask if any rooms ready? Is there
One in building of choice
Or is there a 1st floor for patio
Or 3rd floor for balcony

That may work better unless you prefer to wait for a request.

Samoa is a much better location than Fiji. It’s in between both pools and steps from the GCH and beach. Ideal for a resort day. Fiji otoh is next to the construction site and you will have to round the marina every time you want to go somewhere.

Edit: This was our view last summer when we stayed in Samoa. We were on the side of the building facing the Oasis pool.

What is the likelihood of getting into trader Sam’s as a late night walk up?

Going to be at Disney for a night next Tuesday, and won’t have time for a reservation, but wondering what likelihood is of walking up at like 1030 and getting in.
