Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

me too! Four of the nights were $489, which seems like a bargain to be on the Poly grounds.

Has anyone ever slept in those pull down beds like the ones at the Riviera? Am I going to regret this decision? :scratchin:scratchin:scratchin
I slept on the pull down bed and the most annoying thing was figuring out where the lights were in the dark and bumping my head in the process (longhouse deluxe suite with 2 baths). The second thing was having to charge 5 MB+s and running out of usb (had 2 regular plugs but with iPads and 3 phones..). These rooms seem brighter. I was so tired from the parks and had no trouble with the size or comfort of the beds.

We love the 1 bedroom setup at AOA (same 2 bathrooms as the deluxe suite @ longhouse (similar price). If the extended evening hours are not great we will switch back. The monorail wasn’t much of an advantage during Christmas week 2022 (45+ min wait).

Also we were booked on the ground floor (no gates only bushes? Happen to ask at front desk before going to the room) and we have a child with sensory issues and it took a while for them to find a different room higher up.

Not sure what the preferred view would be? I assume normal view faces the street but where would the preferred view be? Obviously the theme park view is the opposite side

A topic of great debate on the DVC threads. Most seem to think Preferred will be pool and maybe pool or golf course, Standard will be lower floor rooms where parking lots or service areas are more prominent. TBD though.

Polynesian tower will have 3 separate room categories or views:

  • Theme Park View: Most rooms on the north / northeast face of the resort which are pointed toward the Magic Kingdom
  • Preferred View: These rooms were commonly described as having either a pool view or golf course view. The pool view would be the 6-story wing overlooking the new pool being added to the resort. There may be some view of the Magic Kingdom from certain angles, but it will be a lesser view than the designated Theme Park View which should have a clear angle of the park from both the balcony and villa interior. The golf course view is likely to be rooms on the opposite side of the building, located on higher floors.
  • Standard View: These rooms are likely to be located on lower floors of the monorail side of the building. They will be the cheapest accommodations and guests will be able to view the monorail gliding by, but the rooms will overlook the building's parking lot and have no view of a Disney theme park.
Estimated number of each room category:

Can we talk about how close the kitchen is to the bed in the Duo Studios? Who approved this? 😂

Interesting set-up however I could see reaching from the pull down bed, without getting up, and grabbing a beer out of that fridge as a plus... and a cry for help but it's vacation so no judging ;)

What do you mean, you don't like to fall asleep to the soothing chorus of your mini fridge hum and silverware clanking in the dishwasher? 🤣

Also, I believe the picture is of a deluxe studio, not a duo. The only pictures I've seen of the duo have a grey sofa Murphy bed with a chaise but given the leaked floor plans I doubt it's much different than what's in the photo here.

Someone fact check me as I’m trying to keep up with the details myself, but I think there is some question of the accuracy of the Duo Studio images on the website? The Disney Parks Blog article the other day had this image of what I thought was the Duo and the image above is actually from a Studio?

That was the exact picture I was thinking of - and it looks like I may be wrong in my last post. The Disney blog clearly has that picture under deluxe studios but when I went to check photos attached to the actual booking for a duo studio when I went to change my Poly Tower booking, it had a picture of the green couch. Very confusing...

Yes the Duo only has the fold down Murphy bed over the "Gray" couch or at least that is my understanding. The Deluxe Studio has the Queen in the way of the Murphy bed when looking toward the window.

The Deluxe Studio has a "Green" couch right next to the Kitchenette.

Are you sure it's not a Duo? If you're correct, then their site is not showing the correct photos for Duo Studio, which would be a catastrophic oversight on Disney's part.

Yes, from what we seem to know based on the Disney Parks Blog post from a few days ago, the website is currently inaccurate. Shocking turn of events for Disney.
