Considering renting DVC points to stay at Poly! Does anyone know if the rooms have a minifridge? This is a huge factor as we are planning on getting food from Amazon Now. Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone! So I've skimmed through the thread, but there's just SO much information I figured I would just ask here.. We will be down in WDW 12/4-12/9, and it will be our very first time renting points to stay in a DVC Villa. I just have a couple questions..
1. Can I do online check in to enter requests? Or is this something the owner would need to do for us?
2. I know that we only get mousekeeping on our 4th day. I'm not worried about towels, we can do laundry or grab some extras from the pool. But, what do we do with our trash? We have 4 adults in our room so I'm sure the cans will fill up quickly..
3. What about coffee? Is there enough in the room to last for 4 days or should we plan on bringing our own?
4. Not DVC related.. I know you can get Tonga Toast at Capt. Cooke's.. are you able to get the strawberry compote that Kona normally serves with it there as well??

Thanks for your help!!

At the risk of :duck:we'll be meeting up with our annual pass local friends and DDs BFF - can they join us at the pool as our guests for a couple of hours before we all go to the park?

mind if I ask where you rented points? I inquired and Dave's said Poly was almost a guaranteed wait at this point. did you wait it out or get lucky?

You can ask at the front desk to have them added as day guests but depending on capacity it's not guaranteed.

1. Yes, you can do online check-in but the requests are limited. It would be best to ask the owner to submit the requests you may have on your behalf.
2. There are "trash rooms" in the DVC buildings--you are able to dump your own between Mousekeeping services.
3. There will only be one (maybe 2 if you are lucky) packets of coffee upon arrival. You should plan to bring your own coffee and filters. The pots used in DVC are standard basket type pots--usually 10-12 cup.
4. I am not a Tonga Toast fan (I know I am in the minority), so I am unable to answer your compote question.

Enjoy your stay!

Hi everyone!
Very excited to say after much thought we are staying at the Poly for the first time in August. Always dreamed of staying here when I was little, so excited to finally be able to. I have a few questions about the Poly and then other Qs about parks and what not.
We are standard view room, how hard is it to get close to GCH? I would much rather be in Roratonga, but would also be good with Nuie or Samoa. Also is the monorail loud?
Not hard to get close to GCH, as there are Standard View rooms in Rarotonga, Niue, Samoa, Fiji, Aotearoa, and Tuvalu. My impression is that most requests for Rarotonga are filled. Samoa is the most requested longhouse.

What stop is Poly with DME? What other hotels does it usually stop at?
Depends on the run. It usually shares with other MK-area resorts, particularly Grand Floridian, but sometimes the Wilderness Lodge properties and Contemporary as well. Depends on time of day and passenger expectation.

How long does it take to get to Epcot? Do you prefer walking to TTC or just taking the loop around and switching at TTC?
It will take much longer if you use the resort loop to switch. Walk to TTC. Still allow 30-40 minutes, because you may wait on a monorail.

I noticed parks closing very early the end of August/beginning of September. We go every year this time and usually MK is open til 10 most nights, noticed many nights it will close at 9, even 7, do they typically extend hours? I don't think we have ever booked this far out from our travel date so I am unsure.
They may extend hours. A 7PM close is likely to be a MNSSHP night at MK, where if you don't have a ticket to the party you must leave.

How crowded is Capt Cooks in the AM?
Extremely.

first post, so that looked odd. oops

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post the rental site I used, and I'm unable to message you (I'm guessing because you don't have enough posts for that feature yet). But we didn't have to wait at all. The company we used already had an owner lined up that had a TON of points for the Poly.

Also, there are several Dis members that rent out as well. You can go to the DVC board and see what is there as well!

The Poly is an amazing resort, you're going to love it! Enjoy the planning. Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

Hey everyone! We will be returning to our favorite resort in 21 days, renting a Lakeview Studio via DVC points for the first time. I know that will mean Moorea (which I love as we stayed in a Theme Park View room (#3023) before it was converted to DVC).

I'm thinking of using Touring Plan's service to request a room (this has worked great our last few trips). Any thoughts on noise level varying from one end of Moorea to the other? I think we were buffered pretty well last time, but now there's the element of the bungalows, too. So... if we're farther to the right/west, we're closer to the TTC with the ferry horns. If we're center or closer to the left/east, we'll likely get more foot traffic with the bungalows.

Thoughts?

When we were there last year, we were on the 3rd floor, kind of towards the middle. I really didn't notice any excessive foot traffic from the bungalows, it all seemed about the same as any other part of the resort. And I know I'm in the minority here, but the ferry horns never bothered me.

Frankly, though, they could put me on top of the ferry dock as long as I had that fantastic view. My favorite way to end the day was on the balcony, glass of wine in hand, watching the Electrical Water Pageant and Wishes. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I think I may aim for the middle of to the left/east, but I'm kind of like you - in that setting, we'll really be ok with whatever we get. :)

We did online check in recently and saw that we couldn't choose a specific longhouse as one of the options. Is that a recent change in the online check in process?

Oh I was hoping we could request a longhouse during online check in :(

We are thinking of bypassing online check in (still don't see the need) especially since we are requesting one of two longhouses. If we have CRO place our requests on our reservation, is faxing room location requests still appropriate?

We will be arriving at the Poly for a long awaited breakfast at Kona Cafe and then head to MK for 8am walk down Main Street. We certainly don't expect our room to be ready quite that early! ;)

Hi there! First thing you'll need to do for both situations is to determine if the monorail will be running at the time you need to leave. Make sure to pick up the "Times Guide" in the lobby that covers the week you are there. Monorail hours can and likely will change from week to week, so it's important to have the latest and pay close attention.

This is a good link to bookmark, they are usually pretty timeline with posting the current Times Guide: http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/p/weekly-walt-disney-world-times-guides.html

As you can see, for this given week the Resort Monorail started running at 7AM most days but 8:30AM on one day.

The boat is also an option and will be running early enough for EMM or regular rope drop. I usually do the "eye" test with the boat. If I see one coming or near the dock, I'll take the boat. If I don't see a boat, I'll take the monorail, assuming it's running.

I did two EMMs last year and timed it so I arrived at the gate around 7:30ish. They let you in 7:40-7:45ish.

For regular MK rope drop, have you followed the new procedures? For a regular 9AM opening, they let you through the gate around 8ish now. You can linger around Main Street but can't get past the hub. 8:55AM welcome show by the castle. In my opinion this has dramatically improved the rope drop "flow" through the main gate and has made it so your arrival time doesn't have to be totally perfect, as it was in the past.

But to sum it up, for both my first choice is monorail, second choice is boat, but with the big caveat to pay close attention to the monorail hours.

Hope that helps!

Fingers crossed for that 7:30am ish monorail to get to MK for the 8am Main Street opening. Think we will make it by then?

DH and I are getting excited for our VERY FIRST trip ANYWHERE without the kids (now young adults) to celebrate our 30th Anniversary! :yay:pixiedust:

Just booked our first stay at the Poly 8/30-9/6 for my family + my parents. My parents haven't been to Disney since 1985! My girls will be beyond thrilled to know their grandparents are going. Can't wait!

Sounds like an awesome trip! Hope you have a great time and enjoy the Poly :wizard:.
