Can anyone tell me about the coffee and coffee makers in the rooms? Are they pods? K-cups? Size of the basket? Any information would be great.

Resort room or DVC room? Here's a pic of what's in the resort rooms - it's those single-serve little pod type things. I think the DVC rooms have a regular coffee pot but I'm not sure.

Staying at Poly for the very first time in July. We usually stay at EPCOT area resorts, but really excited to be staying at a monorail resort this year.

You will love it! We've stayed at the BC and while we had a nice time, we just love being in the Mk area (especially at the Poly). Hope you have a great time :).

Renting DVC points from a relative for September - very excited for my first stay at the Poly!

The Poly is amazing, hope you have a great time :wizard:.

Hi, this will be my first time staying in a Disney resort and I'm so excited to start planning my trip . I'm not going til next August 2018 ( very end of August) but I'm learning everything now. what is the web site that you all go on to make your room selections and see rooms? I'm still trying to decide on dining plan and club levels. Thank you

Congrats on booking your first Disney resort! August 2018 seems far off, but it will be here before you know it! Have fun planning :goodvibes.

I'm coming out of hiding - I've been lurking on this thread for a little while. ;) My husband and I are planning a kid-free trip in the fall of 2018 for our 20th anniversary, and our plan is to rent DVC points and stay at the Poly. It will be our first time to stay at a monorail resort and I'm looking forward to it. The kids are not excited about us leaving them behind, but they'll get over it. Eventually.

Sounds like a great trip you are planning! Good luck renting points, I hope you have a great anniversary trip ;).

Hello Poly Fans! Well we have been back a week now and I'm trying to catch up and sorting out my pics from the trip. This was our first stay at the Poly and we had the best time, we love it there and would definitely stay there again!

We got the leis and anniversary celebrations badges from the lovely CM at check in - we requested Fiji building 3rd floor but we got Samoa 1st floor King Size instead, which I was a little disappointed with at first, but it turned out we actually preferred being that much closer to the Ceremonial House so was very happy in the end - we were literally one minute walk away which was great with our refillable mugs.

We loved the torches around the resort and how lush and green it was - we enjoyed a few walks around of an evening so pairing this with the tropical music, it really felt like we were in paradise!

We had some amazing meals there at Kona and Ohana, we even got a card from Kona to welcome us back as we had breakfast and dinner there during our stay. We loved Trader Sams Tiki Terrace (never made it inside) and Capt Cooks was such a great QS location for a quick breakfast or bite to eat in the evening. We love dole whips so being able to get one here was amazing too and I enjoyed my very first Tonga Toast and Kona Blend, so good!

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and can't wait to come back - I've posted a couple of pics to share the Poly love with you all, thanks for all the tips too

Glad you had a great trip. Hope you are able to get back soon. Love the pics, thanks for sharing :flower3:.

First time staying at Poly!!!

The lovely CM on the phone who helped me book told me the time I'm staying ill either be getting free dining or 30-40% off my room. He said the email will go out in April and then another in June/July. So our $5k should drop hopefully!!! :mickeyjum

Anything I should know about Poly? We want to eat in Ohana, but tell me more about the Resort! I'm so stoked!

Congrats on booking the Poly. Have fun planning :wizard:.

My DH, DD & I have stayed at the Poly many times and we'll back again this August. :hyper:

My sister and her family are going to WDW for the first time this October and are also staying at the Poly. They are coming to visit next weekend and I'm going to help them with their itinerary. I'm so excited for them! I hope they love the Poly as much as we do!

Congrats on getting back to the Poly in August. Hope your sister and her family have a great trip and enjoy the Poly. Have fun helping them plan :goodvibes.

One tip, do NOT depend on getting an e-mail about potential free dining and/or room discounts when they come out for the fall. Disney isn't going to be proactive about contacting you to save you money.

You need to follow the September discount thread and other threads on here and watch them like a hawk. When the discounts come out, you want to be on the phone that day. Free dining can be hard to get and the quick one to go, room discounts should be more plentiful, although that 30-40% seems rich to me. Per Mousesavers last fall's general public discount was 20-30%. Obviously things can change.

Speaking of Mousesavers, it looks like last year free dining/room discounts that covered September were released 4/25. Exact dates can change year to year, but that at least gives you a frame of reference of when they are likely to be released and when you need to be paying close attention.

Sorry if the above is obvious, just making sure.

:thumbsup2

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend trip in February using our DVC for the first time. We loved staying at the Poly. We had a lake view room with a view of Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain. One night we returned to our room in time to see Wishes from our balcony. We were in Moorea Building - room 2015.
One thing I did learn though was not to have someone drink the Nautilus at Trader Sam's after an afternoon of drinking around Epcot and then doing the Star Wars Galactic Dessert Party (and having plenty of drinks there) and then going to Trader Sam's. That day didn't end well for my husband but he just had to have the Nautilus drink glass. We weren't able to get into Trader Sam's inside but did enjoy sitting out on the patio area.

I booked the Poly again for my solo Flower and Garden Festival stay - it'll be a bit longer so I will be able to enjoy the resort more.
I'm so looking forward to it.

Glad you had a great time at the Poly. Have fun on your solo trip :).

We are booked for August!! First time ever at the Polynesian for us!! We have stayed and bounced around at YC/BC/BWI our last four trips so this will be very different for us! A surprise for the kids too since this time we are keeping the resort a secret, they know we are going and they know when, but they don't know where!! My son, who is eight, said staying at the Polynesian has been on his bucket list ever since we ate at Ohanas three years ago! I thought he was a little young for a bucket list, but smiled anyway!

Congrats on booking your first Poly stay, you're going to love it! The Epcot area is nice, but (IMO) there's nothing quite like staying in the MK area :goodvibes.

We will be doing a split stay in mid July. Starting at BC, then over to POLY :goodvibes. My oldest and I stayed at the Poly October 2015 with my youngest, so it'll be a new experience for my other 2 children and my grandson of course. :)
Question, we are doing EMM, which would get us to MK by 7:20ish, monorail or boat launch?
And then on a regular RD day, which is the better option to get there at a good RD time?
Thank you! SO excited!!!

We are going on our first Disney trip and staying at the Poly. We are super excited! We are staying in a standard view room. Do they have housekeeping come every day for fresh towels, new shampoo/conditioner and lotions? Also, will they bring new things for coffee such as pods/sugar/cream every day? Is there a microwave and fridge in the regular resort rooms? Thanks.

We did online check in recently and saw that we couldn't choose a specific longhouse as one of the options. Is that a recent change in the online check in process?

Yes, provided you are not staying in a Villa on points, you will have daily Mousekeeping with everything replenished. Enjoy your first ever trip!

Anyone know how strict they are about the height limit at the splash area? I have a 4 and 7 year old son. The oldest is 1 inch too tall but is nervous in a large pool. I would hate for him to not be able to play there with his brother.

Not strict at all. They may check his height and ask him not to go on the very smallest kiddie slide, but he won't want to go on that anyway. He'll be fine on the rest.

The only people I've ever seen actually asked to leave are much older tweens who are rough-housing or playing too rough with little kids around.

I can't speak for the Poly but at Caribbean Beach's similar area last year there were definitely bigger kids using the splash pool. It was an uncrowned afternoon in September so there were maybe 5 kids total using the slides at a time. The bigger kids were siblings/relatives/friends of the younger ones and were well behaved. no one said anything.

Oh I was hoping we could request a longhouse during online check in :(

Funny you say this, my DD was kicked out of CBR (she's 8, was with her younger brother) but has always been allowed at Poly!

Aw poor big sis! It was really empty the day I was at the CBR pool so maybe that had something to do with it. The whole thing must really vary by CM.

I hope you have a great trip! A BC/Poly trip is the best of both worlds :wizard:.

I can't answer about transportation as I'm not sure what time the monorail or boat launch starts running each day, but hopefully others will be able to help :flower3:.

Your question has been answered, but I wanted to say congrats on your first Disney trip! I hope you have a great time :goodvibes.

Hi there! First thing you'll need to do for both situations is to determine if the monorail will be running at the time you need to leave. Make sure to pick up the "Times Guide" in the lobby that covers the week you are there. Monorail hours can and likely will change from week to week, so it's important to have the latest and pay close attention.

This is a good link to bookmark, they are usually pretty timeline with posting the current Times Guide: http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/p/weekly-walt-disney-world-times-guides.html

As you can see, for this given week the Resort Monorail started running at 7AM most days but 8:30AM on one day.

The boat is also an option and will be running early enough for EMM or regular rope drop. I usually do the "eye" test with the boat. If I see one coming or near the dock, I'll take the boat. If I don't see a boat, I'll take the monorail, assuming it's running.

I did two EMMs last year and timed it so I arrived at the gate around 7:30ish. They let you in 7:40-7:45ish.

For regular MK rope drop, have you followed the new procedures? For a regular 9AM opening, they let you through the gate around 8ish now. You can linger around Main Street but can't get past the hub. 8:55AM welcome show by the castle. In my opinion this has dramatically improved the rope drop "flow" through the main gate and has made it so your arrival time doesn't have to be totally perfect, as it was in the past.

But to sum it up, for both my first choice is monorail, second choice is boat, but with the big caveat to pay close attention to the monorail hours.

Hope that helps!

Does anyone have any info on Easter Activities at the Polynesian? We will be spending this Easter there and I've heard they host an egg hunt and have a couple characters at the resort for pictures.

I expect that info will be released with the April activities schedule.

Hi everyone!
Very excited to say after much thought we are staying at the Poly for the first time in August. Always dreamed of staying here when I was little, so excited to finally be able to. I have a few questions about the Poly and then other Qs about parks and what not.
We are standard view room, how hard is it to get close to GCH? I would much rather be in Roratonga, but would also be good with Nuie or Samoa. Also is the monorail loud?

Amazon Pantry, anyone ever done it? Do they give you a choice of name brands (for example Poland Springs water)? Do they deliver fruits? What happens to perishable items if you are not at hotel to receive them at time of delivery?

What stop is Poly with DME? What other hotels does it usually stop at?

How long does it take to get to Epcot? Do you prefer walking to TTC or just taking the loop around and switching at TTC?

I noticed parks closing very early the end of August/beginning of September. We go every year this time and usually MK is open til 10 most nights, noticed many nights it will close at 9, even 7, do they typically extend hours? I don't think we have ever booked this far out from our travel date so I am unsure.

How crowded is Capt Cooks in the AM?

Thanks!
