I didn't know you would still get daily housekeeping (if booked through Disney). That is good news! Now to convince myself it is worth the dollars. They appear to be the same size as the regular room, more or less.
I didn't know until recently that you could get daily mousekeeping either. I learned that on this board.

Yes they are the same size as the prev standard room was in that longhouse. The longhouses on the east side like Tokelau, Tahiti(Moorea) etc were built after the original longhouses and are a tad larger Sq Ft.
Adding a second bathroom took away some space from the living room. Guess it's a trade off.

Ah. Thanks for the info. Now if I could only get a discount. It is soooo hard to pay rack rate for a "standard" size room even with the extra amenities. I must be going during a very busy time because availabiltiy is lacking overall. I'm trying hard not to give up and rethink going at all. :/

I wouldn't pay rack rate! Have discounts been released for your dates? Are regular rooms available with a discount? They sleep 5. They have fridges, you can request a microwave at check in.
Or look for DVC studio at another resort that has discounts available.

I know. I can't bring myself too either. We want to go Oct 3-10th or the 2nd or even the 4th but I can't find regular rooms with a discount either. Availability on everything that week is really limited and it falls on the last day of the summer discount and the first of the fall. No fall discounts available and AP rates not released but given the overall lack of availability my hopes are not high so for the first time in forever I'm considering offsite, the Darkside, or just skipping out. Ugh!

Thanks for the help, I was just confused. On disney site it was listed as a deluxe suite under the villas and then just the different views for the regular rooms. The only difference I could see was the kitchenette and the pull down bed. Am I missing anything else.

Keep looking! I know discounts get snatched up pretty quickly. But if I couldn't find a discount I'd be looking off site! No way I'm going to pay the WDW over inflated rack rates :sad2: I stayed 1 night at the DTD Doubletree in a 1 bdrm suite for a tad under $100!!! It was very nice. And I got free breakfast with a discount code from Mousesavers.com. At last minute we decided to come in a day early, so booked there. And their shuttles run continuously every half hr to the parks. You can walk to DTD.

There's also a Waldorf & Hilton next to each other I believe. It's one of those "off site" but still in WDW properties.

Also the Darkside is great, lol. We went last August before WDW. Stayed in Portofino! Great hotel, and Harry Potter & Universal was amazing.

I totally agree! The Disney rack rate is over inflated and it's ridiculous to pay that amount. If we can't get a good discount, we may head over to US for the first time -- we do love Harry Potter and it seems like a better value for our money, hotel-wise.

here's a photo of the EWP from our room and you could hear the music perfectly. So magical.

What a great pic :cloud9:.

Well, due to some changes in our flight time we will now be landing in MCO earlier than we were. We should be walking in to the lobby at Poly about this exact moment one week from today. I know it is not likely that we'll have a room this early (they are sold out that Thursday night) but it will be so nice to get our day started nice and early.

It's always great getting to Disney earlier than originally planned :yay:.

We're staying at Portofino Bay next January for three nights before moving over to AKV. I'm really looking forward to it. Only my oldest daughter is into roller coasters, but I think the others will be happily entertained with Harry Potter.

Ask for West Wing!! Great location close to boats. And be sure to come back to resort one night to see the singers. Amazing. We got food from Italian Deli and took it to outside table to watch. Loved it❤️

I'll write that down so I remember what to request. Of the three resorts there with the FOTL pass, Portofino appealed to me the most. And you can pool hop at all the resorts there, so if my kids really want to listen to Aerosmith while they swim, we can wander over to the HRH.

I've taken each of my kids on a mommy and me trip before they started school. Talked to my mom a few minutes ago about maybe taking a trip to the Flower and Garden festival in two years and staying at the Poly. She's very much up for it, so with any luck there will still be some deals to be had at the Poly once all the construction is done.

Yes, HRH is a short walk away. We stayed there during Tropical Storm Faye so never did get to use the pool!

Hi - I'd really appreciate some opinions on longhouse recommendations. I know it's subjective and that's ok. I'd like to hear your own opinions. I've looked at the maps but I've never been to the resort so I'm interested in feedback from those who have stayed there. On the map I can't tell how close things really are or if there's lush landscape to block some of the construction views from the longhouses. What would you choose if you booked a standard-view room and didn't want a view of the East Pool construction? Or which longhouses would you definitely avoid? And, do you like first-floor patios or upper floor balconies? Thanks!!!

I'd book longhouses on the west side of resort away from East Pool construction. Take a look at Tikiman web site. Tons of info. Also page 1 here.
