We are wanting to stay here at the end of January. I know the offer some kind of special at that time of year. Either stay play and dine or a % off of room. We want to stay in a regular room, does anyone know about what the price is with a discount? We are trying to decide between this one and a moderate resort. This will probably be our last trip. Thanks for all the help.

You can go on Mousesavers.com and search Historical Discounts. They have a chart that goes back a few yrs and lists what kind of discounts were released, and when they were released. Room only discounts in late January are usually between 25 & 30%. S/P&D is more difficult to figure out as they don't break it down into components. It's just some type of discount on the entire package- room,DDP & tickets. So you'd have to price it out at full price, then price the package to figure out which would be the better savings for you, room only and buying tickets from a company like Undercover Tourist, and pay oop for dining, or get the package. Lots of Disney Math!!

Has anyone done the Spirit of Aloha dinner show with a toddler? Our DD will be almost 4 when we go in December and I'm wondering if she'd enjoy it or if it's really better for older kids. Thanks!

My toddelrs did fine behavior-wise at SOA, but I cant remember any time we went that they didnt fall asleep during the show. They were so tired from our travel day, or day in the park once they relaxed at the table, they were down for the count! They enjoyed the BBQ much better as they were able to dance (run around) on the dance floor and have fun.

Thanks. That's helpful. I was sort of leaning towards it not being worth the money at this age. Hopefully we'll be back in a few years when she's more likely to be awake and in to it!

Staying in Villa mid August and just hearing pool closing tomorrow....what Villa location can I request so we don't have pool construction noise and mess???

Got back on the first of July. It was amazing as usual! Stayed at POR the first three nights, but we did not feel like we were vacationing until we got to the Poly for the last four nights. We got the exact room I requested in Somoa on the third floor facing the lava pool. :). Restaurants were great! Lots of new staff at front desk. Change of uniforms while we were there as well. I like the orange. My DS 18 preferred the blue. Room was awesome with beautiful view. It was just wonderful!!
I decided that if we cannot stay at the Poly, we will wait until we can. The resort is such a big part of our vacation.

That sounds like the exact room we had last week!! To us, the location and view from our room was/is the best we've ever had in WDW.

Maybe a CM will walk around the pool area with an ipad to scan MBs and give out wristbands. This happened during our trip, but it was a holiday week and they could've been expecting hoppers. However, I think it's a practice that should be kept at all times.

EDIT to add: Let me know what you think about the outlets. We had a hard time keeping our iphones/ipads securely plugged in as the outlets seemed very loose.
Yes!!!! The ones on the desk don't work for the iPhone plugs, but my scooter (a 3 prong" fits fine

Sounds like you had an AWESOME stay! :thumbsup2 How was the Lava pool when you were there?:confused3Guess the Lava pool will be more crowded starting today with the closing of the Oasis pool.

What the heck! That makes no sense when half the world has an iPhone. :confused3
No, not the connecting end that plugs in to the phone but the outlet end.

What they mean is the actually outlet is not holding 2 prong plugs well. That applies to any 2 prong thing you plug in. Seems the 3 prongs fit better.

For reference, my house is built in 1960 and most all of our plugs are just 2 prong and many of them are also loose and things plugged in just fall out of the wall.

Resort Hopper Question. Which lounge would be best to watch the Water Pageant and Fireworks?
There is a lounge upstairs at Poly next to 'Ohana that you may be able to see from? Not sure as I've never tried it but maybe someone can say? If you eat at 'Ohana there are some tables you can see it from. Also at CR, Cali Grill has a good view. Prob the best view, but you need a dinner ADR to get up there. Narcoossees at GF also has a good view.
Or you can watch from either Poly or GF boat dock.
Hope this helps.

We had the same issue at YC in May.

As Sue M posted, mousesavers gives historical data on discounts. You won't see specific percentages for each resort, but it will give you an idea of when the discount was released and for what time frame.

Thanks for your review, glad you had a great trip :wizard:.

I find that to be a problem in many locations. Sometimes the boxes that plug in the wall are so heavy they pull themselves out. We bring a power strip now and plug that in to the wall and then plug all our devices in to that.

Yep we've had the same problem at other resorts (BC, Poly, WL) and found the best thing was to use a power strip, we usually pack two and plug them in to use throughout the trip.

Gotcha! I thought it was a very weird thing. Thanks for clarifying :thumbsup2

What was your room number in Somoa?

That's a great idea, especially since DH and I are always taking turns charging our devices on the one "good" outlet! I'll have to add that to my Disney Packing List :)
