I still like Niue and Samoa for its location even with pool construction. There are many great views in all the longhouses. It really comes down to preference. I love the views from Fiji but I hate walking around the marina. That is just my opinion. I would rather be where Niue and Samoa are. I was in Samoa facing construction fences in February and I would not have traded its location. I would have been happy in Niue also.
I feel the same way about walking around the marina. Any reason you didn't mention Raratonga with the other two? It's usually my longhouse of choice but the construction has me all confused!

OK help me out here Polynesian lovers. I have stayed at the Boardwalk every year since 2002 but due to a Disney corporate convention we are being moved out of Innkeepers Club Level and there are no current standard rooms available. They have moved us to the Polynesian. We check in next Wednesday and will have Club Level access. I am excited to try something new but still a little hesitant. I have read as much as I can about the resort and we have been there to dine before. Any quick hints with the time crunch would be appreciated!! :flower3:

Hello sfbank! Poly and BWI are among our family's favorite resorts. I love both for different reasons, but they are very different. I love Poly for the theme, the tropical feel and the fun, relaxed atmosphere. I've always preferred the Poly pool over the BWI pool - just feels more relaxing and really enjoy the view of the lagoon. I also love the proximity of the Poly rooms to the pool and the beach - particularly when staying CL in Hawaii. So convenient. I'm a fan of the dining options at Poly, and it's nice to have the monorail access direct to MK and then direct to Epcot from TTC. So excited about Trader Sam's - love the DL version and bet this will be even better with the outside seating. The view from the CL lounge is really wonderful - nice to watch the fireworks from the two-level lounge. And in the lounge, there is plenty of room to spread out. I particularly enjoy the upper level of the lounge - entirely uncrowded most of the time.

On the other hand, I do miss the easy access to Epcot when staying in the MK area. Ideally, we'd have dinner in or around Epcot every night and as you know, BWI can't be beat for that. But Poly is second best, since we can take the monorail direct to TTC and walk from there. One of the biggest differences is the lounge atmosphere. Very casual, laid back atmosphere in the Poly lounge. More guests using evening appetizers as dinner or ordering in/eating dinner in the lounge at Poly. More guests getting drinks for the pool, and occasionally some with a few too many drinks for the pool. :) The CMs are nice at Poly, but we've not encountered anything at Poly that's similar to the Jackie/Pete/Scott/Michael/Anita combo at BWI. And in our experience, the BWI lounge has always been more quiet and super well-maintained - probably because it's smaller with no separate kids' area so it's easier to monitor.

So as I mentioned, I like both for different reasons. I really love a Poly CL/BWI split stay!

P.S. As for tips, everyone focuses on the monorail, since it's a benefit of staying at Poly. But I really love the boat to/fro MK - so relaxing. :)

Thanks so much guys. I am excited I think it was just too sudden and too last minute. We will make the best of it and who knows.........future favorite??:rolleyes1

I saw the pictures yesterday on Tikiman's FB page showing the GV rooms outside of Hawaii getting their grass back and the fences removed! Makes me so happy that we kept our CL reservation in 3 weeks! We can't wait to be at the Poly again - 1 week CL over July 4th - super excited!!!

After hitting my head against a wall...er...making my adrs on Saturday, I have been looking at breakfast options that aid in getting to RD. There is only so many QS breakfasts I can eat during a 9 day stay, and TS isn't always an option because it takes too long. How is the Poly's room service at breakfast? I see it starts at 7, if I order ahead, does that mean I can have food close to 7? Or would it turn up a 8? Odds of it arriving warm?

It would probably only be a one day thing as tax, 3$ deliver fee and an 18% tip is cost prohibitive.

Less than 36 hours and things couldn't be crazier!!!! Quick errands and then I need to get some more work done tonight so I'm not a crazy maniac tonight!!!

yes! Can't say it for the Poly yet, but it's been the case for the WL and the GF for us!

I love the boat too. We usually take monorail in morning and boat back.

Are you still able to view Wishes from the beach or do the new bungalows now block the view?

You can see the fireworks, but the lantern lights on the bungalow docks are ridiculously bright white and annoying. They should be yellow and lower wattage like the same lantern lights on the boat dock. (JMHO)

Hi everyone I have a question about the Polynesian, with the construction and DVC addition at the Polynesian has anyone else had trouble getting a regular room (non-DVC) booked? In previous years we've never had problems getting a reservation at the Polynesian even just a couple months in advance. This year I've been calling off and on since May and cannot catch any availability for a garden view room at the time we want to go (September). I know we got a late start trying to get a room, it was a last minute decision to try and go and I'm wondering if I just picked a bad time frame or if maybe some longhouses are not open due to construction. I'll keep calling, but I'm starting to get discouraged about the possibility or getting a room at the poly at all. We might end up having to stay elsewhere or waiting until next year...

I'm pretty sure free dining is the cause of that, if you're looking for September. It's not just Poly that's going to be booked during that time frame. I've seen threads where people are trying to get in at values, mods, and a lot of the popular deluxes that month and can't find any rooms at all that are available.

Questions for the Poly experts.... We are looking into booking a DVC studio at the Poly for our early December trip off of the regular Disney booking site. We are not DVC members. I noticed there were not any water view rooms available for our dates. Will any open up or are these always reserved for DVC members? I assume these are like the water view DVC units at the Boardwalk. I have never seen these available on the Disney web site. Also, does anyone know whether the standard view DVC studios at the Poly are included in the general public room only discounts. It does not appear they are included in the current promotions. Would one expect to pay full price? Thanks in advance!

Is it early Sept? If so, it might be because the Magical deal many of us got so that TA took most of the standard/garden rooms.

This is going to sound crazy, I know, but I'm having a hard time getting a clear picture of what is still under construction at Poly. There's a ton of info out there but it all assumes you know your way around the resort. I have a reservation at CR in September but am thinking of changing to Poly, but only if the construction is pretty much complete by then. Can anyone point me to a good summary of where they are?
