I added a room request of Fiji third floor is that a good request or do you think that is too much?

Last time we stayed there at Poly was 2003 I think... so it's all different now...
Is Fiji one of the DVC longhouses? Member but not sure without looking at map.

Staying at the Poly has always been a "if I win the lottery" dream, but we are seriously considering it for our next trip in January 2018 after taking some time to walk around the grounds a few weeks ago. It would definitely be a standard view room. I've been checking out the Touring Plans room finder and when I plug in Standard/Deluxe Studio as an option, it gives me three longhouses: Tokelau, Pago Pago, and Moorea. If we have a choice, we'd like to request Tokelau as it is closest to the main building. But, I recall reading that Tokelau is a DVC building. Are non-DVC folks able to request this building? I know we'll be happy with whichever building we end up in, but didn't want to request it if there wasn't a chance of getting it. We were originally planning to go back to POFQ, which we really love, but with some credit card points and tax refunds burning a hole in our pocket, we thought this might be the time to splurge and stay someplace we wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford.

I've always skipped over the Poly thread since I never expected to stay here, but I'm slowly working my way through all 484 pages.
I am member at Poly. Like renting DVC points vs. booking on a cash basis directly with Disney, you will only pay 55-65% at DVC vs. Disney cash price. You have to take the 12.5% tax into consideration when booking with Disney. That adds up. You can book on DVC side. You have to look for a listing that says Deluxe Studio, or heaven forbid, Bungalow. Booking one of those will be more expensive than booking a regular room with Disney. There are some concierge rooms booking on cash basis with Disney that are more expensive. Not sure if they have "suites" in hotel side.
My recommendation is to book with a Poly member since they have an 11 month window to book. Not a lot of us yet since it is nowhere close to being sold out. You can alway buy poins there, but I heard Disney had gone up to $173/pt....wow.

I think there are like 5 options for online check-in. One of them is a longhouse, the others are like "upper/lower/patio/balcony." Not even a "near transportation" or "near elevator."

I would recommend away from elevator anyway, though.
How new are the 5 options when doing online check-in? When we went Feb. 2016, it was pretty much nil as far as special requests. But, I could have just missed it too.

They blew up the online check-in last year, then rolled it back to a fraction of what had been there. It was kind of nuts.

If we wanted to be at MK when they start to let people onto Main Street (8am for a 9am opening) is this doable using, the monorail or the boat??? Neither or Both????

First time at the Poly coming up so tyvm!!
You can either take the local monorail (resort inside loop) from Poly 2nd floor or if you are at the end close to TTC, just walk over there to take local. It's actually closer than walking up front. Do NOT do the boat. Way crazy with off-property and it won't run as early as the monorails will. Monorails will run early because of the early opening and since early opening is only available for on resort guests- there you go.

Hello. I have made reservations for Poly Club Level Aug 2nd through 5th. I see there is a dessert/cordial offering in the evening. What kind of cordials do they serve? Have any of you made mixed cocktails with the alcohol provided? If so, what are your recipes?

Based upon your description of the room type, it is not a DVC based room. It's actually in the hotel.

We have stayed at Disney GF and GF CL main building and CR CL tower. Not looking into CL this time and considering the Poly 8/5-12. Should I try it or go back to CR or GF? Also, should I do a a regular room or one of the Villa rooms? I really don't know anything about the Poly. I will be going with my 16 year old twin girls.

Thank you for answering my question!

Yep, you only get the one set. But, on the 4th day if your stay is longer than that, you get a "trash & tidy". Been a member since 1993 and I still can't remember what all they do besides trash take-out, maybe vacuum and I think swap your towels. There's a laundry room in I can't remember which building. No charge- you supply the detergent and it is available for sale. They use a cool company that you can check on which machines are available, how long they have to be done, etc. Very cool. That way you don't have to worry about keeping track of it. It's a phone app. Hint: You shouldn't do this probably but you can "grab" a couple of pool towels for the room if you really don't want to mess with laundry. You can also get some from the housekeeping cart when they are close by.

I have questions about rope dropping from the Poly:

1. For Magic Kingdom I believe the earliest way is the resort route which starts earlier than the TTC route right?
2. For Epcot it would be the TTC to Epcot route 1 hour before opening right?
3. DHS and AK are just buses correct?
4. Is it an option to take buses to MK or EP and is that better than taking the monorail?

Thanks!
1. MK- local monorail and it sometimes starts earlier than an hour before.
2. Epcot- you may be able to walk to TTC if your studio is over that way.
3. Yes on Disney Studios and Animal Kingdom
4. No on buses to MK and No on EP. Buses would take forever. Monorails run at no more than 5-7 minute intervals and sometimes quicker depending upon traffic patterns. Disney tracks everything so they know when they need to add transportation.

There really isn't a way to call the resort directly.

I would make "connecting" your only request, and have your point rentals put that in as a request as well with MS. I don't think Disney will take a phone call from you on a point rental with a request.

Not sure why you say there really isn't a way to call the resort directly. 407-824-2000 gets you there. For special requests, I wouldn't call during their busy, busy periods. Those are during check-out starting as early as 8:00a.m. all the way to late check-ins at 7:00pm. Call between 7:00pm to maybe 10:30pm. That way you get a more experienced person (if there is such a thing at Disney with the large number of college students they use for short term contracts) when you call.
When you call just make sure that you verify you are actually talking with someone physically located at the desk. Get there name and let them know you will be stopping by to follow-up to make sure whatever you called about was done properly.

Actually that number routes to a Central Call Center. The phone CMs that work at the Call Center are very good at making you think they are at each resort. They know which resort you are trying to call by the number you dialed. There is no way to call any WDW resort directly. Even when you hit the "Front Desk" button on the phone in your resort room you get routed to the Call Center.

Which makes me wonder.....is there a good place to watch the sunset at the Poly? I have seen the sun rising over the lagoon while walking from the bus drop off to the Magic Kingdom for early breakfast reservations....and I remember returning to the MK on a boat while the sun was setting after an 'Ohana dinner.....but I don't have my bearings over where it would be and where to watch from the resort.

Sunset Point. It faces MK and has lovely views--try not to mind the bungalows.

How do we get to typhoon lagoon? Is it a direct bus before 11am still? And coming back is the switching of buses? Do we switch at disney springs or Epcot? Thanks!

Are you booked Standard View?

For quiet, Moorea is actually fine for SV. SV faces away from the boat horns.

Yeah we're standard view, that was my hope with Moorea that it was away from the boat horns, how close is it to the walking path to TTC compared to Pago Pago? It's hard to tell on disney's fakeish map

Thank you for sharing all of these photos! With a name like "Sunset Point", I am sure it will be a fantastic spot!! Yay! Will I be able to find that on resort map?

Yes, it is on the map, but easily found. Walk to the beach in front of the themed pool and follow it to the pathway up the left walkway to Sunset Point. This is a very popular site for weddings.

Here's a map showing Sunset Point (or Pointe?)... I was going to say this is a good sunset spot as well. The middle part is elevated enough so you're looking over the Bungalows and there is at least one bench, maybe a few more.

I don't know if it is different because we are staying DVC, but we did not have a longhouse option when I did online check-in yesterday. The options were Upper Floor, Lower Floor, Close to Transportation, or Close to Lobby.
