Just as an FYI, we tried to take the boat at 7:30AM on Sunday and it wasn't running. They said boat service wouldn't start until 8:30. Not sure if this was a weekend thing or not. I will say we never had a monorail issue. Even the EPCOT Spur was up and running early in the morning. We were able to take it to an 8:15AM pre-park opening on Saturday (got to EPCOT about 7:45).
@robinstrip, different days/times of year=different boat schedule???

Thanks for the info! I will try to check it out the night before if possible. Hopefully a CM will know.

So excited to soon be at the Poly. We have a standard view studio booked...looking for suggestions on room requests or building requests. This is our first time at the Poly so any help would be appreciated!

I can't help with room requests, but I wanted to say I hope you have a great trip! The Poly is amazing, you're going to love it! :wizard:

Ah darn! DS just turned 18 last week. I didn't know there was an extra charge. Thanks @MickeyNut...now it adds up. ::yes::

You're welcome :).

Unfortunately, there is an extra adult charge at all resorts for anyone over 18 that exceeds 2 adults in the room (values $10/nt; mods $15/nt; deluxes $25/nt). It is easy to miss, especially since this is your first trip with your DS being 18. We'll have an extra $50/nt charge on our trip next summer as we have 2 adult boys who are over 18.

After 10 long months of waiting and planning we finally checked into our room at the Poly a few minutes ago!

I had requested (TP fax) Fiji third floor facing GF, but not get my request. Knowing that Fiji is probably the most requested longhouse, I wasn't very surprised. Instead, we are in Aeortera in a first floor room with a great view of the monorail passing by! This was my 2nd choice (except 3rd floor instead of 1st floor but I gotta say I am loving this little private patio area! There is no foot traffic on this side of the resort so it's really great (so far).

The room itself could use a little TLC. Lots of noticeable chips in the wood on the daybed and chair. Chair has some obvious stains. The curtain is broken on the side of the patio door opening on top so the curtain doesn't open. I'll tell them about that tonight after dinner because I'd like that fixed (you have to hold the curtain to get to the patio door).

Other than that, very pleased with the Poly so far!

Monorails glide overhead as you arrive at the front entrance of the Polynesian Village’s Great Ceremonial House.

Bell services are available here to assist you with your baggage. You will then be directed either inside to the main lobby check-in desk or escorted by a cast member directly to the Hawaii longhouse for those guests staying club level (more information on club level can be found in post #6 )

I love your picture of the Monorail! Great angled shot!

Thanks for checking in with us!
Sorry about you not getting Figi, but Aeortera sounds nice with the monorail view :)
I hope the weather is great and crowds are low. Have fun!

Glad you are enjoying the Poly! Sorry you didn't get Fiji, but glad you got a room you are happy with. I hope they get the curtain issue fixed soon. Hope you have a great time :wizard:.

When we stayed at the Poly back in 2007, our room was third floor in Aotearoa. It was lovely, but I remember being very envious of those patios. I'm debating whether to request that longhouse or Niue, with a preference for the first floor.

I asked for a quote at the Poly for Aug 14-Sept 2. Once I got it, I booked the entire time but we need to shave 3 days because we just weren't sure of our dates. I know we're going for 15 nights, so I just divided by 15 and got $266/taxes in. Is the week prior to your week more expensive traditionally? I didn't think so, but now I'm wondering why your quote is substantially lower? Hmmmm...just wondering

Edit: @T&G1994 not sure how I attached your post ????? Lol

The rate is the same for both weeks (or at least it always has been). The deal is only valid for specific dates. If I were to guess, I would say that you have 1 or 2 nights in there at the regular rate which is bringing your average higher than others. Just a guess on my part, but worth checking out. Have a great trip!

Getting so excited... only 22 days until we head back to Poly! This is our first non-CL stay in a while ... we ordered a bunch of stuff from GG so we can have our own little "lounge" in our room - I'm interested to see where our room ends up being - with staying in Hawaii so many times, it's fun to see where we'll end up! I would love Roratonga with a monorail view... so we'll see! Can't wait to watch the NYE fireworks from the beach!

After many changes I was finally able to get a passholder rate for next Friday's trip so it's Polynesian in December and March!

We just booked our very first stay at the Poly!!! It's also our first stay at a deluxe. We are in a studio January 14-19. Can't wait to watch fireworks from the beach!!!:cool1:

Congrats :yay:. The Poly is amazing, you are going to LOVE it!! :goodvibes

Just wanted to comment on our great stay in the new villas.

We had a standard view in Moorea. They are soo nice. Moorea is right by the pathway to the TTC so we caught the monorail to both MK and Epcot from there. There is also a convenient, separate, parking lot beside it/short walk. The walk to Ohana and Capt. Cooks was not bad either. We had plenty of coffee with the full-size, in-room, coffee maker (don't forget the filters if you are bringing your own coffee though, wish they were included). The sofa bed wasn't bad either. No seam in your back like other's we have had to sleep on. The fold-out bed was perfect for our almost 3 year old little grandson too.

The only negative I have is that we had patio rooms and I like a balcony for more privacy. I think we are considering "buying-in" after this experience. Can't think of a better home resort. :)

Thanks for responding, @Karebear. I'm within the deal's dates, but @mickeynut1 pointed out that as I now have an 18 yo son, I'm being charged for 3 adults. :crowded: So my room rate is the same as the others', plus the extra $25/night. Investigation complete! :disrocks:

The beach is a fabulous to watch Wishes! The epitome of relaxation. :cloud9:

Does anyone have a link to the December activities calendar? We are lucky enough to be staying over Christmas, and I can't wait to see the resort activities! I have found sources for some other resorts' holiday guides, but not the Poly.

It's on Tikiman's Facebook Page.

We just got back from an amazing first time Poly trip! Unfortunately we had a 2nd floor Samoa vew of construction that they couldn't move us from but it was awesome none the less. We really enjoyed the boat rides to MK, the pool and the magical fireworks from right outside the room! The monorail was down this morning and that was a pain. One lady on the DME with us tonight said it took her more than an hr to get to MK this morning because the boats were full from people at the GF. We had an ADR at Chef Mickey's so we took a taxi over and walked to MK. We loved the convenience of the boat and monorail but the lobby was crowded with people most of the time. Our son loved the pool. Thanks for all of the advice in preparing for the trip!!

I can't help with the calendar, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip! The Poly is a great resort and Disney at Christmas time is amazing :santa:.

Welcome back! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip.
Just goes to show that it doesn't really matter which room you get, you had no balcony and a view of construction and it didn't detract from your great trip one bit.:thumbsup2
I too wish the lobby was not so crowded all the time. After a long day at the parks I would like to come back to a calming resort, instead of dodging people on my way to captain cooks etc. Having popular restaurants like Ohana's and Kona will always keep the Poly hopping, so I just remind myself how lucky I am that I get to stay at this very beautiful and happening place!:lovestruc
