Disney's New "Magic your Way tickets" in 2005 Packages

I also wonder if this complicated ticket scheme will last or just be another thing Disney tries and abandons. I could see Joe Public who's never been to Disney World before showing up at the ticket booth and trying to understand all this. Sheila

That's exactly what I've been thinking! Those folks will be sooo confused and the cm's will have too much to explain to a line of people..I think they either wind up with not enough tkt options or paying way more than they need..the latter being more likely.

After all, the DIS and other Boards might be full of knowlegable Disney folks, but don't you think the average fmaily who visits does little more than buy a guide book (if that much) and trusts Disney or a non-Disney specialist TA to take care of everyting? Those are the folks I feel sorry for and think will spend more than ever.

I've heard too many people come home and say they will not go back because it cost too much and was too confusing. Very sad!

Do you have to buy a prepared package in order to put a deposit and pay on your vacation to get these prices or will I have to only book a room and pay for the tickets individuallly?

I don't really see where this is more complicated than the old system. It's just new. I mean, on the old system, you had to decide between Length of Stay Pass or not. Park Hopper Plus or Regular Park Hopper or One Day/One Park ticket.

Now, you still have to consider the same options, but in a different format.

Everyone buys the same ticket but gets to choose the appropriate "add on"---pluses or not; park hopping or not; expiration date or not.

I think in some ways it is LESS complicated, once you really look at it.

Magic Your Way Base Ticket

Agees 10+
1DAY $59.75
2Day $119 (59.50 per day)
3day $171 (57 per day)
4Day $185 (46.25 per day)
5Day $193 ($38.60 per day)
6Day $196 (32.67 per day)
7Day $199 ($28.43 per day)

Ages 3-9
1 Day - $48
2-Day $96 (48 per day)
3 Day $137 (45.67 per day)
4 day $148 (37 per day)
5 day $155 (31 per day)
6 Day $157 (26.17 per day)
7 Day $160 (22.86 per day)

Jesse I tend to agree with you. When I first went to Disney I bought a package with a length of stay pass. My TA told me what I got with it and that was that.

With these passes I think that most people that don't do a lot of researchwill get their tickets with hopper & plus options, but without the NO expiration add on. Hopefully, Disney will allow people to upgrade if needed once at the parks.

I have always used all of our PH days except once. I used 6 days instead of 7. To be honest if I bought a 7 day pass now and only used 6 I would not be that mad because it only cost an extra $3.

I plan on buying the 10 day pass (undecided as to whether to include hopper option or not). I may not use all 10 days, but the difference between 7 day and 10 day is only $10. So now, I can hop over to the MK on our arrival day, and I can also just go to a park just to catch the night time show on or off day of something.

I know I alot of people have reservations about these new passes, but I like what I see so far.

Some of us are just probably going to have to change our ways a little. I had intended on hopping two day out of the all the days we are going. Since we really don't care for AK, and that would have been one of the days that I would have spen 1/2 day visiting with a hope over to EPCOT to see more of those attractions, we may just skip it. Instead on the two days that we planned on hopping we will have to decide which park to revisit besides EPCOT since we love spending time there. More thinking to do.

I just thought of something, this may put a cramp in our dining procedures. We really dislike most of the places to eat at MK & AK so we hop over to EPCOT to enjoy the unique dining experiences of the different countries. I suppose the hotels on property will be getting more of our business.

I'm pretty much a newbie here, so pardon me if I get some of the jargon wrong.

I'm in the midst of planning a trip for mid February. I have tentative reservations for a 5night/6day Dream Maker Package with Prince/Princess Add-on at the Pop Century for 2 adults/1 child ($1387.60). I have a couple more days before I have to put my deposit down and now I'm not sure what to do. :confused3

Should I go ahead and book the Dream Maker Package now and then try to switch to the Magic Your Way Package in January? Are there penalties for making those sorts of changes?

I am going for 4 days this christmas and 4 days next october, I don't know what to do. I have 2 days left from a previous 7 day PHP, and I can't figure out what to do. (Total days needed is 8 for 2004-2005, I already have 2 days).

Should I buy a 2 day PHP which expires in 10 days after use (I found on this website) and get the new 4 day base ticket & PH option next year?

I would I be saving money by buying a 6 day PH right now? I am very confused.

you could save your php for a future trip in 2006 or after and buy an AP for your two upcoming trips, you'd get additional discounts that way including resort discounts, dining discounts, shopping discounts and free parking.

I haven't actually figured out the cost, but the price per day is a lot higher on shorter tickets, for both the new tickets, and the ones available now. So, I imagine it would be cheaper to buy just one ticket, the 6 day PH.

For budget minded families who just want to be able to go to WDW and can do without hopping and "plusses" this is going to work out great. For someone who can go 7 days (or even 5 days now and 5 more later) this will work out great.

About the other non-Disney parks: If I was going for 5 days and then a day at sea world and I was doing the expiring tickets, I might just add the day since it's so cheap in case sea world is a flop and you want to leave early or do some EPCOTing afterwards.

Also go with the base ticket would work out great for someone with leftover hoppers. 10 day non expiring tickets combined with your left over hoppers could equal 2 or 3 trips worth of visits. (3 base tickets(no hopping) and a left over hopper for AK/EPCOT day per trip x 3 trips) That could stretch it to three 4 to 5 day trips. (for the budget minded of course)

I would go ahead and book. I called Disney and that if I booked now and then found the new packages to be better I can always change without penalty up to 45 days of my arrival - but during January and February that penalty will be waived! So if you were due to check in on Jan 4 and called Jan 2nd you could change your ressies to the new package without penalty.

Thanks! I think I will book the Dream Maker and switch packages later. My travel agent was telling me that we'd lose the discount we got for booking with that code that just expired if we made any changes, but I think these new packages might work out in our favor anyway. I guess I'll find out in January. :-)

HI ALL!
I have been as surprized as ALL, about the January Effect!
May I suggest that if a Tix price list is posted PLEASE indicate if the prices include the 6.5 % tax and if shipping charge is included, like in the case of the Advance Purchase Tixs.
"THANKS!"
"THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!!"

I wonder if Disney has come up with a new way (or any way at all) to identifiy ticket owner. If they still operate the way they do today, I can see a huge black market selling these left over tickets from 10 day base tickets. It only averages $21 a day, a little more than 1/3 of daily ticket price. People could sell their tickets before to street vendors coming home for whatever they can get. The street vendors could sell them at $30-45 a day and find plenty of people willing to pay for that price.

Also keep in mind new discounts might be out when you rebook.
Also the Dream Maker package you have now may be cheaper than the new package, not necessarily the other way around. So you'll lose nothing by booking now.

There is a thread over at the DVC board (I think that's where I read about it) where someone said they learned Disney will require biometrics identification for these multi-day tickets, the same identification currently used for APs, so you won't be able to sell the unused portions the way current Park Hoppers are sold.

There are many rumors that all these new tickets will be incorporating biometrics (finger scans) and imprinted names, like the APs do now. For a couple dollars for the 8th, 9th, and 10th days, they almost are forced to do something to curb reselling. Also they have to eliminate the possibility of two families traveling in subsequent weeks from buying a 10-day ticket and sharing it (each family using it for 5 days). That would be a killer loss in revenue.

Edit: Scotch, you beat me to it!

Do I have this right? If I buy four 10 day passes with the magic plus pack option I will get 5 visits of my choice. Im buying 4 tickets for 4 people, well all goto one of the options once, then the 5th one is just a waste? Unless we buy 3 more tickets to whatever we choose to do??? TIA
