Um, that's pretty much incorrect. You only get one tag now because the airlines started charging for bags and guests started bringing much fewer bags. The second tag was getting tossed in many cases. So, DME started sending just the one tag...that seems to be sufficient for the majority of guests. If you do need addtl tags, you just call DME (phone number is in the booklet)..they will send you addtl tags in the mail as long as you let them know far enough in advance.
I can't imagine why anyone would be told that they would have to go to DME checkin, get a new tag and then go back to baggage claim to tag their bag. If you have an untagged bag, this is the proceedure. You go to DME checkin. You let them know that you have untagged checked baggage. They will ask you for the number of bags, the description of the bags (will show you photo sheet of types of bags), and ask for the baggage claim receipts to make copies. They will then send a DME CM to baggage claim to get your bag(s), and that person will get the bags to the DME baggage area for transport to the appropriate resort.
Thanks for the clarification. It could have been because we were a month out from our arrival date that they wouldn't send us additional tags but they did not tell us that when we called them. They just said any additional tags, we would need to get them from the DME Welcome Center.
That is such a relief that we don't have to track our bags down ourselves especially since we have little ones and elderly parents in our group. I thought how pointless it would be if we had to go through all that hassle. This is our first time using DME so this is awesome info. THANKS!
