Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

Hi- I'm obviously a newbie here. I just book 3 nights at Pop Century today 10/14 with Magical Express arriving MCO on Sun Oct 24. Do you think my tags will arrive in time and does anything else come in the mail that I will need? If I don't get them in time what do I do?

thanks Jan:)
Welcome to the DIS boards Jan...and welcome, also, to the Transportation board.
You may get your info packet...they tell us that they need 10 days to get the stuff printed and out to the guest, so you may luck out.
If you don't get the info packet before you leave....you have two options. You can go to baggage claim and get your checked bags yourself and then bring them to the DME bus with you. You will have them with you when you arrive at your resort.
Or...you can go directly to the DME welcome counter and give them the number of checked bags you have as well as a description of them. They will also want to see your baggage claim receipts. Then, someone will be sent to baggage claim to retrieve the bags and they will be delivered to your room up to 4 hrs after you checkin at the resort.

You will get vouchers printed out for you at the DME welcome counter if your packet doesn't arrive. All they will need is your name, some form of ID (license is fine) and they can bring up your reservation right then. Then, off to the bus you go.

I received our DME packet today for our upcoming vacation on 10/26. The problem is that I received 2 packets, not 1 like I usually do!
When I opened them, one had the inbound info and the other, the outbound info. That has never happened to me before! I always get 1 packet with all the info (inbound and outbound) and I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience.
I'm also afraid that this double packet will cause problems...
Thoughts?
TNX!

As long as your arrival packet has your correct info on it, you should be fine. Are you doing a split-stay on this trip?? I know that when I do a split-stay, I usually get several DME packets..drives me nutty.

Yes, we're doing a split-stay (it's the first time we've ever done that). Ok, knowing that it's a common practice to send out multiple DME packets, makes me feel better! :)
Thank you so much for the info! :thumbsup2

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered before...

On our departure day, do we leave our bags in our room and they magically get delivered to the airport or do we take them to the front desk when we check out?

Can we board the ME (with our vouchers, of course) at a resort other than our own?

Thanks!

You have to personally be with your luggage at the Resort Airline Check-in desk. You can have Bell Services pick it up at your room for you and transport your bags to the lobby, but you must reunite with the bags at the RAC desk. It's exactly like curbside check-in at the airport: you must be with your bags, you must show photo ID, you get checked-in for your flight, etc.

As far as the DME bus goes, you must take the bus from your own resort, you can't board the bus at a different resort.

Our airline is not a participating airline so I won't be checking into our flight at the resort. I'm guessing this doesn't change anything though.

Thanks!

You've already had good info, so I'll just expand a bit. On your departure day, get those bags down to the RAC counter as early as you can. The longer you wait, the longer the line is going to be. You can check your bags up to 12 hrs before flight time...so as long as you aren't flying out past 6pm, you're golden!! I like to be at the RAC counter by 7am....nice and quick at that time. Only one person has to be there for the immediate family. Your bags will be checked and boarding passes issued. You can then go about the rest of your last day at WDW.

What you do with the rest of your time is up to you...depending on flight time. You do need to be back at the resort DME bus stop no later than 15 mins before your pickup time. The time you are given is the time the bus leaves the resort, not the time you should head there. Be ready to go, carryon bags with you, all bathroom visits made, 15 mins before pickup time.

If you are heading to a park, then be sure to leave plenty of time to get back to the resort. If heading to a different resort, then absolutely leave plenty of time to get back to your resort. At least an hour, perhaps more, is needed. I usually leave 90 mins to get back to the resort. Better safe than sorry.

Okay then. That's too bad. I thought just about all the major airlines participated now. Oh well.
In any case, you can just leave your checked bags with Bell Services. Grab them when you return to your resort for DME pickup. Be sure to leave about 15 mins or so for Bell Services to get the bags for you.
Then, the bags will go underneath your bus and handed to you when you get to MCO.

I have a few questions I'm hoping that someone can help me with.
We are flying in and out of Orlando. We will be in another part of Florida for a few days before going to Disney. We plan on renting a car for that part of the trip then the day we go to Disney, we plan on checking in at our resort and either my husband or I will drive the car back to the airport and turn it in and then take the Disney Magical Express back to the resort. Will that be ok.? Also we are looking at taking a 9:51am flight out when we leave. With that early of a flight can we still take advantage of checking our luggage in at the resort with the airline? If so, about what time do you think we will have to have the luggage checked in at the resort in order to make sure it makes it on our flight. We are thinking of flyinig AirTran.

Thanks.

Jen

Yes, you can ride DME that way. There's nothing thsat says you need to fly into the airport on the same day you take the bus.

As far as your last day, you'll be just fine with a 9:51 a.m. flight. the Resort Airline Check-in desk opens daily at 5:00 a.m. The transaction needs to be complete not later than 3 hours before your flight, so in your case that's 6:51 a.m. In addition, your DME bus will be scheduled for about 3 hours (plus/minus 20 minutes) before your flight. You need to make sure your Resort Airline Check-in transactionis done well before then ... DME advises you to be totally ready 15 minutes before your scheduled bus time (and you'll be notified of your bus time on the day before your last day).

Very useful info. Chip 'n Dale Express. Our trip will be on Dec. I just received those yellow tags.

Hi, lots of good info on this thread, thank you! I'm sorry if I don't explain this correctly, but I received my ME packet yesterday (the one with the yellow tag). In the booklet, there's "vouchers" with my name on it. DBF's name is not on anything in the packet, including the vouchers. Should I be worried? My name is the main on on our reservations, so maybe that's why? Also I see alot of people posting they receive blue luggage tags, is that in a separate packet? Or is that just a special thing some people receive? Thank you!!

Every person listed on the DME reservation should have a voucher in their name. And every person on the DME reservation should get a 'yellow' luggage tag..included in the same packet. The blue luggage tags are hard plastic ones that are part of a package booking..they have nothing to do with DME.
If your DBF's name isn't listed anywhere in that DME packet, I would call whomever you booked your stay/DME with, and be sure he is listed. Otherwise he won't be able to ride the bus.

So after being on hold today to give Disney my flight info for DME.. I come home to our DME booklet & luggage tags. The book states that they don't have our flight information. Will I get sent a new book with my info or no?

They really don't need your arriving flight info. But, they will need your departing flight info. So....when you get to the DME checkin counter, just give them the info then. Or, you can give it to the front desk at your resort..but be sure to do that when checking in. Otherwise, you tend to forget about it until too late.

Hi I have just booked a quick surprize trip for my wife on 12/11. What I want to try to do is make it to whishes that night but my flight does not touch down until 8:00pm if everything goes right. My question is and if this is taboo I apologize. Can I send just my bags on ME and rent a car so I can make it to MK by 9:30 we are Ap holders so i know that will help.TIA!

We are arriving at MCO at 11:50 p.m. Do I even need to use the yellow tags for Magical Express since we will have to get our own luggage from baggage claims? Do I need them on when we take luggage to the bus?
