Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

I have a question. I'm sure it's been answered, but 128 pages is quite long. do we have to catch the DME back to the airport from our resort, or can we hop on from another resort? I'd like to check out from CSR and check my bags to be taken to the airport (my airline participates) but we have lunch scheduled at WL. Can we take DME from WL to airport or will we need to go back to CSR?

At this time, DME reservations are tied to your resort reservation. You must leave from your resort. You don't get to choose another pick up spot. Sorry.

How late can you make a reservation and still get your luggage tags. We fly to DW on the 15th. I called at the beginning of last week. Any chance I will still get luggage tags mailed or will I just have to give the baggage claim numbers when I get to MCO? Anyone have experience with giving baggage claim info. Should I be super concerned about losing our luggage that way. I am going to carry on what I need for that night and the next day, but still losing luggage would totally suck!

I decided at one week out that I wanted two more tags. I told them the tight timeframe and they told me it usually takes 1 week. But they actually expedited them and I had them in a day or two. If they don't arrive, I would be inclined to claim my own baggage and take it to the bus rather than have them try to find it.

Hi everyone!

I apologize if this question has been asked, but I just wanted to see if anyone has heard this...

I realized that I am now 1 week away from our trip to Disney and I never received my luggage tags or DME packet....I only received our magic bands. I booked with my TA and called her concerning the matter.

Disney told her that they are now implementing a new system where they only take the luggage tickets that you get when you check your luggage at the airport...you give that to the CM in MCO and then that's how its done now...bc they were losing too much luggage. Apparently its a fairly new policy and my TA wasn't pleased that they didn't notify her about this. I booked in May and she told me that if people are still getting the tags its bc they booked further in advance than me,...

Anyone know if this is true?

Also....I've never done this whole luggage thing..I'm a little skeptical and think I feel more comfortable ensuring that I have my bags in possession. Did it work out okay for you all?

Thanks!

Quick Question

We are doing a split stay and the first part of our stay is AKV. Our DME tag has the green AK Mickey like it's supposed to but at the top it says DVC Hold - Boardwalk Villa. That is the second part of our stay. Is that anything to worry about? Should I be concerned that our luggage will go to BWV instead of AKV? I would think not but I wonder why they put the second stop of our split stay on the tag.

When my vouchers/luggage tags arrived they gave everyone in my party the same last name, but we have different last names. No idea why, it's correct everywhere else in my resort reservation and MDE. I called DME and they said corrected it in the system and that we can still use the tags/vouchers but now I'm nervous about it. My wife and I are flying in separately so she will need to the voucher on her own, which is something she's never done before. I don't want her to run into problems. :(

I've used ME for years and it's always worked out great, never had a problem of any kind using it! That is strange what your TA said they told her. :confused3 I booked my flight very late in May, but didn't even sign up for ME until late Aug, maybe Sep, and I got my ME luggage tags as usual.

How far in advance do DME tags usually arrive? We received our magic bands already and fly out on Dec 12. I feel like I always get nervous at this point, but it's a service that really helps us, and I want to make sure we can use it.

Thank you!

I have been getting my dme packet about 3-4 weeks prior to travel. But others have reported getting theirs much closer to departure. If you are really nervous, you can call DME and make sure they have you in the system. Might not be a bad idea at this point.

I've searched this thread, and read multiple pages, but can't seem to find an answer to my situation. We already have our DME booklet and luggage tags :goodvibes .

My group's flight is scheduled to arrive in MCO at 4:37 AM. However, luggage service doesn't begin til 5 am. Will we need to pick up our bags from baggage claim? Notify DME at the counter?

By the time we actually land, taxi to the gate, and they begin unloading luggage, it may already be past 5am. I'm just worried about the opposite situation of arriving *just* before 5am.

I'm going to make an assumption, and this isn't anything official, so perhaps someone with experience can chime in...but, I 'think' that if it isn't 5 yet, and your bags arrive, they probably won't make it too far away. Not sure if they would actually make it to the baggage claim carousel...it would seem probably that it would be close enough to start time that the tagged bags would be put aside when they come off the plane. BUT....that's an assumption!!! If they didn't get put aside and then sent to baggage claim, I imagine that it wouldn't be too long before DME people came and to them nd took them to the baggage staging area for DME.

I can't tell you if what she heard is wrong universally, but we booked everything a little over a month ago for a mid-January trip, and we got the normal yellow tags/packet in the mail today, so what she was told is not true in all cases.

To your last question, we've used DME probably half a dozen times, and we've never had anything lost.

Travelpro Luggage Maxlite 2 20" Expandable Spinner is the best and lightest bag known to me so far...It has special grooved handle tubes provide extra strength and handle stability when supporting totes

Apologize if this has been asked before. We've used DME in the past; however, have arrived later in the afternoon. This time our flight gets in about 9:55 pm, so I'm assuming we'll have to grab our luggage from the baggage claim and transport ourselves. Haven't had to do this in the past. Should we still use the yellow luggage tags? Is the baggage area easy to find and in close proximity to the DME area?

I would not bother to use the luggage tags. DME stops getting bags for flights arriving at 10p. If you do arrive before 10 and you have the tags on your bags, they'll get delivered 3 to 4 hours after resort check in... obviously in the early hours of the morning (you're free to notify luggage/bell services to hold your bags until the next morning).

Another related question... DME stops picking up bags for flights that arrive after 10p, right? But when is "arrival"? Wheel touchdown? Pulling up to the gate? Doors open? What if your watch says the door to the jetway opened at 9:59p, but DME's clocks say 10? :confused3

I apologize if this has been asked before also. There are seven of us that will be staying at VWL, but only 3 are flying in and out. When they sent us the DME luggage tags, they sent one for each member of our party (7). I expect each of the 3 flying in will need two tags each, can they use the one with their name and one with a different name on them? Or should I be calling for more luggage tags? So confused at this point. :confused3
Thank you for any assistance in advance.

Since you're all staying at the same resort using any of the tags will work. The luggage will just end up in the wrong room is all.

My travels documents came but there weren't any luggage tags. It shows us using Magical Express. Do you think they will send them separately or should I call? We fly out in 36 days.
