Hi All,

Just wondered if any of you are planning on using DME and if so have you received your DME tags, We are flying out on the 29th June so was wondering when we can expect them.

Many Thanks

Linda

Had planned to use this when we travelled two weeks ago but if ur travelling with Virgin, they are not taking part, as they have thier own transfers. This was contrary to some advice I was given via a telephone call to Disney who informed that I would be able to collect tags from an office at the airportand plave them on the luggage after I had left immigration. There is no office, just a woman walking around with a badge on waiting to be spotted. Virgin transfers worked very well.

I just phoned Disney yesterday to book this and was told as I was from UK and therefore had to go through customs I wouldn't be sent out the baggage tickets but had to get them in the Airport?

To confuse the issue I am being joined by my friend from NZ a couple of days later than we arrive and from a different airport so this took some explaining.

I fly to Orlando through Chicago and my friend through LA but she said we would have to look for the Disney personel at the airport for the baggage tickets to then put on our cases.

I am going to phone again in a few days just to check as I am not really convinced that the CM understood what was required but would like to know if other UK people have actually been told they will be sent the baggage tickets.

Thanks

edited to add I realised after I came off the phone that I only have one Disney confirmation of our room booking which of course I will have so my friend when flying in a couple of days later won't have this to produce to any Disney personel to get a baggage label???

I am confused :confused3 as we booked the AKL part of our holiday direct with Disney when i called to book DME they advised me that tags would be sent out, I think I will also call again.

Update:

I have just called Disney and spoke with a CM who adivsed me of the following:-

Because we have to go through customs we will not be sent out luggage tags, once we have cleared customs and have dropped our bags for the second time, we need to find the DME CM's and check in at the magical express desk.
I will look and try and find out exactly where this is located at the airport.

Thanks for that Linda. As we will be clearing customs in Chicago I hoped I wouldn't see my luggage after that until in the resort so I need to check if indeed they have a Disney rep in Chicago for the labels and in LA for my friend.

Hi,
CM just called me to confirm my DME booking which is encouraging.
I have sent an email to disney relations direct regarding the process for arriving International passengers who have booked to use DME.
I will post reply once received

Here is the response from Disney Customer relations regarding DME for International Passengers.

"Thank you for your most recent correspondence.

When you arrive at the Orlando International Airport, take the airport tram to the main terminal
building where you will be greeted by a Disney Representative and directed to the Disney Welcome
Center located on the A side of the airport, on Level One. The Disney Welcome Center is located
inside, adjacent to bus lanes 32 through 38.

Here you will give the Disney Representative your airline luggage claim ticket and the Disney
Representative will help you claim your luggage at the baggage claim carousel and deliver it to the
resort where it will be sent to your room.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Betsy Mayer

Thanks for posting your response, I'm using DME in July and was told by my agent that I wouldn't be receiving the tags either.

Just spent half an hour on the phone to the Disney UK office in Florida and because we are clearing customs in Chicago and NOT Orlando they will be sending us out luggage tickets from the UK office, asap!

I have to email the UK office with the address of my friend in NZ who is travelling via LA and her tickets will be sent direct to her in NZ.

I'm totally confused now. I need to ask my Dreams Unlimited agent to check on this. He initially said that I'd be getting tags but now I'm not so sure.

So I should mark my suitcases myself with a homemade DME label? I'll be worried they'll pick up the wrong cases.

Also, don't the UK flights get in on the B side of the airport? I have no clue how to get to the A side. I hope they realise that DME agents are needed to meet the international guests.

Hi,
Since finding out we would not be receiving DME tags I have since requested written confirmation that my DME is showing in Disney's reservation system i received all the details this morning so I am now happy. :cool1:

I have also been checking out the transportation thread and there are a lot of posts with info regarding DME which could be of interest.
