Disney's Investment Strategies

I just saw this article & haven't seen it posted here yet, so thought I'd pass it along:

I sums up what some others have been saying on these boards beautifully.

One fascinating read. A Disney supporter willing to offer constructive criticism to help Disney get back on track.

They point out that Disney has done a number of things to get us to spend more money without adding attractions (Magical express, DDP, MDE, MMW, DVC). Disney is leveraging our emotional investment in the nostalgia, rather than excitement about new experiences.

Disney's bean-counting has become apparent in many ways. Taking away benches to sit. Quiet fun areas gone in favor souvenir stores. Less Mousekeepers who have to clean more rooms faster. Food quality at TS. Lack of CM training. Too many young people with smarty-pants attitude running things instead of more responsible adults. Generic souvenirs. Plain napkins. Generic dessert factory creating few items, served defrosted. Worse buns. Worse hotdogs. Worse hamburgers. Ticket pricing is a nightmare. Reserving dining 6 months before your trip is absurd. FP+ planning prior to your trip is difficult to accomplish. What was wrong with getting FP at the park, the day you're actually there? Disney's become an expensive theme park with amusement park values. They're laughing at our customer loyalty, all the way to the bank.
