Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Would I be able to take an Uber from YC to GF without an ADR at about 5:30 pm? We wanted to go to Enchanted Rose.

Also, does anyone have an estimate to how long it would take to use the monorails to return to Epcot if we left GF around 7:30?

You should be able to have a ride share drop you off at that time of the day.

You need to wait for the resort Monorail to TTC and then transfer to the Epcot beam. If you are lucky you should be able to complete you return trip in about 45 minutes. Will you have park tickets to enter Epcot when you return since you can't get back to YC without walking through Epcot.

Yes, we have hopper tickets. I just want to make sure we get back before it is too late to enter the park.

Off the GF topic, but if it is an EEH day, would I be able to enter after 9 (close time)?

Thank you for your help!!

I am excited to stay at GF over Labor Day weekend. I have a question about the pools. Will I be able to find a lounger with shade and/or an umbrella. (I don't want a table with chairs) Will there be all day shade or will I have to move at some point? I am a redhead with very pale skin and shade is a requirement for me. I don't want to drop $300 for a cabana since it will just be me. I plan on getting there right when it opens and staying until late afternoon.

I usually do courtyard pool and I am always in the sun. Not many places for shade. However this pool rental spot is cheaper than the beach pool. Can’t at the moment remember what it is called but it’s not a cabana but a reserved section with umbrella.

If you are out around 10am you should be able to find something at the Beach Pool. Near the pool bar there are several loungers with umbrellas and little tables next to them for drinks.

Just wanted to check and see if the pool situation has improved? I kept hearing that resort guests were unable to get chairs, and that people started saving them as soon as the pool opened.

Also wanted to see if they are finally checking rooms keys and issuing wrist bands like BC/YC does.

Thanks

Concrete Poured for New Lobby Bar Foundation at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

In the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, new wallpaper continues to be revealed and crew members have poured concrete in the new bar’s foundation.
White automatic sliding doors with glass panels reflect people inside a bright hotel lobby with striped wallpaper.

Both sides of the entryway attached to the Monorail station are currently open. Work isn’t complete inside, however.

Four women wearing Mickey Mouse ears walk inside a room with patterned wallpaper and glass doors on a sunny day.

Half of the entryway has received the resort’s new damask wallpaper. The other half still has the beige striped wallpaper. The ceiling has also been partially repainted.
Spacious hotel lobby with patterned tile floor, glass entrance doors, and two white kiosks on each side.A bright hallway with a display case, wall art, marble floors, and storefronts on the left side.

Various spots around the second floor that were previously blocked off have been revealed. This includes outside the Monorail station, M. Mouse Mercantile gift shop, and Basin White.

An empty mall hallway with a closed storefront labeled “Baskin-Robbins” and reflective tiled floors.Beige wallpaper with a subtle floral and vine pattern in a raised, textured design.
These walls all have new wallpaper replacing the stripes. It’s off-white with a subtle floral pattern. The columns along the walls also seem to have been repainted white.

White curtains hang across a hallway in a hotel, partially blocking off an area. A few people stand in the distance.A hallway with a plastic sheet divider, a door with exit signs, and sunlight coming through windows at the end.
The PhotoPass area next to M. Mouse Mercantile is still blocked by white curtains. It looks like this space is also getting new wallpaper and fresh paint.

Elegant hotel lobby with a grand chandelier, large windows, and plush seating areas on patterned carpet.
The staircase closest to Cítricos and Victoria & Albert’s has been closed for the past few weeks. Now there are also curtains across the hallway leading to the two restaurants.

Cítricos and Victoria & Albert’s are still opening for dinner while crews refurbish their hallway. Looking around the curtains, we could see plastic taped over a wall outside the restrooms. These restrooms were also previously closed for refurbishment.
Large hotel lobby with construction barriers and equipment, workers present, and guests sitting in a lounge area nearby.
The concrete foundation has been poured for the lobby’s brand new birdcage-inspired bar. The bar replaces the real giant birdcage that used to sit in the lobby.

Construction workers operate equipment and tools on a partially carpeted floor with ladders and exposed walls in a building.

Crews have been working on the foundationfor the past few weeks, installing pipes and supports in the dirt. That dirt patch is now filled in with concrete, replacing the dais that the birdcage used to stand on. Some of the plastic wrapped around the nearby columns has also been removed, revealing their side panels are gone and pipes run into them.

Two construction workers install electrical conduit on the floor of a partially finished building with carpet and tools around.
A long tube snaked across one side of the concrete foundation. There are several short pipes and supports sticking out of the edge. The carpet is looking worse for wear, but the lobby’s carpet is set to be replaced, anyway.

Ceiling panels are open with an orange ladder leaning into the ceiling above a beige partition wall in an indoor space.
At the back of the bar’s construction site, one of the ladders sticks into a hole in the ceiling.
A worker on scaffolding cleans arched windows above a partition in a well-lit room with decorative ceiling beams.

At the check-in area, previously exposed metal framing around these windows has been covered with new paneling.

Spacious hotel lobby with elegant decor, chandelier, and construction area partitioned by wooden panels in foreground.
While the check-in area is closed, guests can check in with Cast Members stationed in the center of the lobby.

Think the lobby will be complete by mid November? Wondering if they have plans to put the tree up.
They announced no GB house but I doubt they would not put up a tree.

Curious when it will be done too but they really have not communicated any time lines for this lobby refurb. Wait n see!

I will be at Gf for Halloween. I’d love to try the new bar but I have no idea when it will be finished!

Expect work to continue until November/December, according to the different notices put out by Disney. The notice also includes the Convention Ctr., so it’s possible the lobby will not directly be affected by the full duration of that time frame. I’d like to think they’d want to be done prior to putting up the holiday decorations, which are always up by Thanksgiving.

Notice by Disney:

“Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be receiving enhancements to select areas in phases, including the lobby and convention center, from April through November 2025.”

In the notice that is posted by Disney on the DVC site, it states the Gingerbread House will not be up this year. It does not say anything about the tree, so I would expect the tree and decorations will still be up.

Construction is not at all bad. Everything you really need in the lobby is either upstairs or kinda off to the side away from it.

We stayed TPV in Conch last year and had a fantastic view. We really enjoyed this building. Not far from the courtyard pool, maybe 3 min walk to Gaspys for mug refills, and right next to the boat dock for quick and easy transportation. Some people don’t like Conch for the latter reason because you hear the boats a lot but it didn’t bother us at all and we actually liked it. Train whistle from MK too. 🙂 We LOVED being next to the dock though, it was so convenient esp coming back after MK EEH and the Halloween party, such late nights and we were too tired to schlep back to the room. Hopped off the boat and went right up lol. We only took the monorail to Epcot.

We had one of the dormer rooms on the 4th floor and this was our view.

Was this a water or fireworks view?
