Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Two questions if I may after reading back through quite a few pages:

1st ever GF coming up...

1. we have an "outer building - garden view" booked. Any building recommendations you could share that I should request?

2. We plan to walk to MK our first morning to rope drop (or whatever we're calling it now) when it opens early. I'm reading this takes about 15 minutes, so if park opens at 9am so gates likely open at 8am, is heading out around 7:45am safe or am I miscalculating the distance/time?

Thank you!!

I’m not a pro but we literally just checked out of a garden view room(5409). It is in sago key. We were right on the path. It was awesome, and the room was well maintained.

So, our magical visit to the Grand just ended. My sister in law is on her way to the airport and my two kiddos and I are checked in at OKW for two nights.
We had a truly magical time. Our room 5409 in sago key was in great shape, had an amazing garden view, was super close to the counter service and the walkway to the magic kingdom.
Overall this was one of my most favorite trips, spending time in the parks, lots of time at the pools, relaxing, and making “core” memories with Auntie K, who we rarely get to see.
Wishing everyone magical trips!

We also have "outer building, garden view" booked for our upcoming trip and we've never stayed at the GF before, so we have no idea what to request on the online check-in form, or even what's on the form. If anyone can help, we'd really appreciate it!

Thank you!

I guess it depends where you would like to be! Here is the map of The Grand...

If the walkway, Main Building, Gaspy’s and pools are your main priority, I’d recommend Big Pine Key, as it’s the closest to each. Good luck deciding!

Thanks, @mrsap! I have no idea where we'd like to be except that we'll be thrilled to be at the GF!

Today makes 30 days for me until GF!! Touring Plans is sending my room request email. I booked TPV and asked for an upper floor in Conch. Hopefully I get it! I’ve had very good success with TP requests.
My last stay was in Conch, loved it! The TPV is so much better there vs RPC/main building. We also had B)K once too and that’s nice because you get more of poly and still castle.

It’s definitely not an easy choice! If you look on page 1, you will also find some room views, which might be helpful in deciding! Good luck! I hope you have a great trip!

We are already having a great trip and we won't be there until the 17th!

Your posts were what convinced me to ask for Conch! Before I had to change this trip to Outer TPV we had booked Deluxe King RPC. So maybe it will work out better this way if the view is better. All I want is to wake up and see the castle on my birthday. :)

I don;t know if you like champagne? I find the Poly has a better selection. They even have small individual bottles. Store on 2nd floor. Moana Merc.

ER has my fav Veuve Cliquot by the glass if want that option too.

BIrthdays are a time to spoil ourselves!

We arrive June 2nd and we also had a deluxe RPC room booked. I am sure going to miss trips to the lounge!!!

2. It is approximately a 15 minute walk from Gasparilla's to MK, so I think you have a good plan, if your building is close to the walkway. Sago Cay is the closest building to the walkway, the bus depot and Gasparilla's.

My recommendation is to request a nice view, but you have to call reservations to add it in. :) None of the buildings are bad. We loved Sago Cay for its location and the view of the marina. We had a room in Big Pine Key which faced the Polynesian, which was nice. It was also located close to the pools and lobby.

Is there anywhere at GF where I could ostensibly watch the most important soccer match of the season? Like at one of the pool bars maybe?

Oddball question I know, but I’m the dummy who just realized my arrival day only happens to be the same day as the dang Champions League final. And my team is 90 minutes in Manchester England away from booking their place in it for the first time ever. I’m not okay lol

Speaking of Enchanted Rose, what do people usually wear there?

One of my favorite parts of trip planning is figuring out outfits. 👗:earsgirl:

I have seen almost everything at ER. Shorts and t-shirts from the park to dresses and sports jackets from dinner. Its so pretty in there but its your pick...enjoy

There is a TV in bar at the quiet pool. Usually there are bar stools there but due to Covid they aren't there. My son did sit at table close to the bar and watched a game in October. Hopefully there have the ability to get that game for you so you can cheer on your team.
