Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Well, I have changed my reservation about 10 times now, thanks to my son and his family! Started with Gran Destino, went to BWV, then Yacht Club, dates also changed due to cheer competition for my youngest granddaughter. Well, we are now at the Grand, 2 rooms garden view for March 25-29! I haven’t stayed there in forever and my son and his family have never stayed there. Got a fantastic, Cast Rate so couldn’t say no!
I do need help on a building to request though. Any advice is appreciated!

Sounds great! Here is the property map! Is there anything in particular you’d like to be close to? That might help make your choice a bit easier. Big Pine Key seems to be a favorite, since it’s closest to the main building.

Disney - I have stayed at the GF a few times over the last few years. I know that in the past I have said I like Poly better and that I think the GF bathrooms are dated, but I take it back. Send me an offer and I’ll book, promise! 🤞

Just wait...now you’ve put this out there and Disney will come out with 80% off Poly and all you can drink at Trader Sam’s when it reopens!

The ‘Poly Lovers Only’ Discount!! 😂 Unfortunately, he’d no longer qualify. :darth:

I hear you. We stayed 3 times there in 2019. Would love that email pixie dust:sad2:

Can we just say we got the email and they'll apply the discount or does it come with a pesky code 😏
There wasn't a PIN code, but the agent checked my name and zip code off of some secret list. Maybe it's worth trying to see if you're on the list and your email went to spam?

My last stay at the Grand was in 2019 and my last WDW stay was at the Poly so I'm not sure why I was targeted. 🤷‍♀️

Were there certain limitations on dates within that window? I'm booked at the Grand for mid-March, but would enjoy getting a better deal. I have stayed there in the past.

Earlier this week, I got a phone call from Disney regarding my April vacation. We were booked at POFQ (booked pre-covid) and since they haven't reopened, we were being moved to the Grand Floridian! At no additional cost. The next day, I called and modified the reservation from the 8 nights we originally had to 4 nights. We are a little hesitant to go but see this as a once in a lifetime opportunity so myself, my two sons, and my mom will be going!! Mom will be fully vaccinated. We will do one park day (Magic Kingdom of course), and spend two days at the pool/DS.

I feel as though nothing this resort. Any tips or advice would great. We are booked in an outer building garden view. We are very used to eating in the food court at POFQ, is there something similar where I can grab breakfast in particular for my crew?
You use the app to mobile order at gaspies for breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks.
Also some things in the sundry shop on 1st floor to buy and take to room like water, wine, cereal and milk.

Also use app to book dining at Gf cafe or Narcoosses. Gf cafe has stand by seating and they are currently using 1900 park fare for the seating.

Pools have food.

ER 2nd floor of lobby has a few appetizers and beverages and also to go beverages.

The boat from MK to gf is a nice ride.

Have fun planning and ask any q’s you have. Gf is GRAND.

From my perspective (and I hate saying it this way because I’m not implying you’re an idiot!), but I think GF is a sort of idiot-proof resort. There’s just not much to worry about when you book there, and it’s easy to figure everything out once you’re there. All of the rooms are the same, all have balconies - you pretty much know what you’re going to get. There are subtle differences in buildings, but nothing earth shattering. It’s just a no-stress resort to stay at, IMO.

With your room/view category, I like Big Pine Key as a request. It’s a nice central building steps away from everything.

During our last trip, for breakfast we alternated with Gaspy’s mobile ordering and room service (GF is one of the few resorts that has room service right now).

If looking for more options, walking over to Poly for a Captain Cooks Mobile Order or Kona Cafe To Go isn’t the craziest idea, if you’re up for the walk.

The pools and pool bars are some of the best in WDW, IMO.

Hope you enjoy your GF trip!

The original email was super vague. The agent told me there were a limited number of rooms available at the discount for dates from 2/18 - 6/10, but gave no information about potential black-out dates. My preferred dates were available so I didn't try to play around with other dates.

I booked it earlier this evening (couldn't believe that discount!) and got a little more information about available dates from the rep who booked it. I asked about different dates and she said right now I could get the rate for just about any time between now and June 10, other than Memorial Day weekend

Did you get an email first, or did you just call in and inquire about it because you had stayed there before?

Hi all. I received that email as well after staying at the Grand in 2018. Called and was able to book Easter week for 5 nights with the discount. I was shocked those dates weren’t blacked out or booked. We are so excited!!! I know this trip will be different but after canceling 2 trips 3x in 2020 we are just happy to get back to the magic. This will be our first trip without the dining plan though. Does anyone know if Garden Grocer is currently delivering and how that would work?

I used Garden Grocer shortly after the CR opened last summer. My order was delivered to Bell Services and the cold items were kept cold. At that time, I picked up my order at Bell Services to take to my room. It worked great!
