Right. The Dream didn't start sailing in Europe until after the Wish started doing the 3/4 night Bahamian cruises, so it is unlikely the Wish will sail out of Europe for an entire season until after a new ship starts sailing 3/4 nights out of Port Canaveral.

If history rhymes then when the Wish does go to Europe DCL will overprice it like they did the first time the Dream went to Europe. DCL always seems to overestimate demand and what people are capable of paying.

I suspect they have seen the way the wind is blowing, and that's part of the reason for the delay - maybe reworking some pricing to prevent having to do deep discounts later. Disney is always going to be more expensive, as there is a market for what they offer. But there is a fine line in being premium and being overpriced.

I actually think they will have two ships in Galveston. Galveston is within driving distance for the South and US heartland and all the cruise lines are shifting more ships there. The US population in general is shifting South.

Im a bit surprised that they are doing a single ship year round let alone the idea of two ships. They have had to heavily discount (even for DCL prices) the Magic the last few years for sailings out of Galveston and she only hold 2,500. They are trying out MDAS this winter so maybe that would help but they already have a restricted GT rate for the Dec 15th sailing out of Galveston on the Magic and Canadian Resident discounts all the way to 1/29/26 on the Magic (and those are MDAS sailings).

The distance from the airport to the port negates the shorter flight for me. I would rather cruise out of FLL with the cheap uber ride to the port and plentiful hotel accommodations. Texas also has problems with weather related flight delays and cancellations. Fog in Galveston also causes embarkation and debarkation delays.

They lowered prices on Europe next year and they are still way above the competition. You are the only person I know that worries about Disney profit margin.

It's mostly Floridians like yourself that do the short cruises and Floridians are conditioned to get Florida discounts.

That’s what we did in May LOL saw the Florida discount for the Magic
And this Wish one at the end of the month was Guaranteed with Restrictions and got the Disney Visa ( we have debit card ) promotion
Other than the new ships doesn’t make sense for us to do anything but those types of rates

The UK sailings out of Southampton are expensive for what they are yet nearly full until the end of August.

I find Galveston appealing because it's driving distance for me out of DFW. There's two major problems with Galveston IMO compared to FLL or other FL ports.

2. Not going to any of the DCL private islands is a huge negative. They were doing the WDW/Pt. Canaveral, Castaway Cay, and Key West cruises years ago, but that ended when Key West went away.

I will be cruising out of Galveston likely Dec 2026 and if there is actually a ship there year round I will likely start going every 1-2 years, but I also plan to fly to FLL or PC to go out of there (or one day San Juan for E Carib)!

I've cruised out of Galveston in early December and it was a little chilly the first sea day. Driving is a big plus, but you are a really short flight to Florida, San Diego and really anywhere in the US. Living in the middle of country has it's benefits.

I got a NYE cruise out of Galveston with a Canadian resident discount two years ago... and the ship ended up filling, but only in the last month or so. I am 100% with you that Galveston is still a market "in development" for DCL.

I've cruised out of Galveston in early December and it was a little chilly the first sea day. Driving is a big plus, but you are a really short flight to Florida, San Diego and really anywhere in the US. Living in the middle of country has it's benefits.

Agreed, I am in one of the easiest travel locations in the country. We fly to FL and CA annually with my family, and I'm on a plane at least 1x per month for work! But, it is nice to drive on occasion and save some money on airfare! We will definitely keep going to FL for cruises!!

I’d really wish Disney could find a way to do their own version of an “island” like RCL is doing in Mexico to open in 2027. We also live in the DFW area and we fly to FL more for cruises than just driving to Galveston because we can only go to Cozumel so many times. We sailed the Wonder to Castaway from Galveston a few years ago and wish there was some way they’d bring those back.

Using December 2025 as proxy... While there are a few gaps remaining in the schedule, if the same amount of ships remain in Florida and they keep doing the same style of cruises, there is somewhat limited capacity to squeeze in extra cruises to CC. There are only 3 days without a ship at Castaway... and you do want some downtime for potential maintenance and upkeep. Lookout Cay has about 9 days opened throughout December... so maybe this is the Bahamian cruise option out of Galveston...
