anyone know why the spa at coronado is closed and when it might reopen

Never reopened after COVID closure. No current plans to do so.

I want to make next reservation for CSR GDT last stay there was standard tower room and we were able to see EPCOT fireworks. Is there a good view of any fireworks from a water view tower room?

I have not stayed on that side but I understand there is a distant view of MK fireworks

Well we checked out yesterday and had a very strange situation when we were trying to catch a bus to AK that morning. We were in Casitas and walked out to bus stop 2 and the sign said "bus info unavailable." I checked the app and it was only showing a time for the Tower. A minute or two later a Disney transportation SUV pulled up and the man told us that they had a convention going on and buses were only running from the tower, not throughout the resort. I thought that was extremely odd as there was no warning on the resort tv, the app, nothing. I just teased him about a "air conditioned lift to the tower" and he looked in his back seat and said, "Sure!" We made small talk on the couple minute ride to the lobby but as we were turning into the lobby, he asked again where we were going and we told him AK. He made a quick right turn and said, "Well let's just add an extra touch of magic to your day!" and took us directly to AK in his SUV. I wish now I would have asked a bit more about the convention, but as we were leaving directly from AK that day, I just didn't think anything more about it. I would love to know more now though!

This seems very strange as those attending conventions often bring family members who want to visit parks during convention time…

Price Waterhouse bought out the entire resort (8/12-8/14) so maybe there were a few non convention guests still at the resort.

Yes this! I’ve done some more checking and basically there were a few of us checking out that morning (the resort was oddly empty all weekend, we had a Friday-Monday stay) Thankfully, since it was our checkout day and we were going to the parks, we weren’t affected, but we had almost used this as a resort day and that would have been terribly frustrating if we hadn’t been able to use the pools/amenities. That being said this is basically the only convention that does this, so I wouldn’t worry too much in the future unless you were looking at this particular 2-4 day span.

Just to show how empty…7:30am Sunday morning on our way to Magic Kingdom and we were the only people on the bus we’ve been the only people on the bus before but not at rope drop for MK!

We check in to Gran Destino this Friday & hoping more of the same. I drive our Tesla down so we have it for dining at other resorts but last year it pretty much sat the whole week.

I don’t do rope drop but I’ve never been on a full bus when staying at CSR. That includes while a convention is going on.

The only time the buses were packed last year was exiting magic kingdom at night, they actually had a line out of the que & reserve buses running. The rest of the week was walk on and clockwork!

There's a coffee bar in the mornings on the ground floor of the tower - Barcelona Lounge. I got one of their featured drinks so I didn't look at what syrups might be there. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/coronado-springs-resort/barcelona-lounge/menus. It's a really nice area to sit with your coffee too!

We could see the MK fireworks from our water view room - they were off to the right. We watched the 4th of July fireworks from the room which was fun. We had room in the center of the tower but had we been more to the LEFT (I mean more towards the casitas side vs. cabanas side) I think we would have had an easier time seeing them. Had we been more to the RIGHT - the building sort of bends a bit on the sides and I'm not sure if you could see them from that side. We had to get towards the left corner of the room to see them. It was just me and my son so if we'd had more people it could have been harder.

The windows are actually smaller than I expected. I suppose I thought they'd be floor to ceiling and wall to wall but they don't go wall to wall. It's still plenty of window though!
