Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

Regarding the hammocks: I bet they put them back after the the recovery effort is completed and some time has passed. They may put new/additional signs up...the current ones around the lakes say "no swimming please" but they may add "beware alligators/wildlife" or something similar.

Gators like tall grass and landscaping, though. So I don't think it's just "can't enter the water." Reptiles gotta represent."

I wonder why they are removing the hammocks. At CSR it is not like you could actually enter the water even if you wanted to because of all the shrubs and bushes around the lake. I have seen an allligator and a big snapping turtle. I have no urge to go in the water.
I think they removed them (at least maybe temporarily) due to beaches being closed. At least the ones on the beaches here I saw them removing this morning.

When I was there in April, I saw a gator trap set to the right of the bridge crossing to the dig dite from cabanas. It was covered in burlap. I never did see the gator that hangs out there. We did however see one in the lake near casistas. AND Behind cabanas in the small lake. It was out of the water on the edge of the grass. I reported it. It was 3-4 ft long.

Wow I will definitely be keeping my eye out when we are there this November.

question?? I'm new here and my wife and I are thinking about switching from WL to CSR (budget). The dates we are going they have 3 scheduled conventions (Sept. 11th - Sept. 16th). Is the resort super crowded during conventions? Do you notice it when you are on vacation? Also, how are the standard rooms at CSR?

Thanks
Maybe during traditional meal times the restaurants will be crowded but the pools and buses should be less crowded.

We just returned last night from our first stay at Coronado Springs. We were there 10 nights. We had a fabulous trip, and thought that the resort truly was beautiful. We didn't feel like it was any bigger than Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans, and didn't have any issues with the buses. I wanted to share a few things though that I wish I would have known before I left (this information may have been mentioned in a previous post, but I just never saw it):

There are no toasters or toaster ovens in the food court. This is not a big deal of course, but all of other values and moderates have them, so I took for granted that they would be there. We took our usual bagels to toast for breakfast, and couldn't use them. There is apparently one microwave though if that helps anyone just outside the door of Cafe Rix.

The rooms have real coffee mugs and glasses in them. I realize most people probably love that, but I cannot bring myself to use glasses that someone else drank out of without a straw (too many incidents of seeing leftover lipstick on "clean" glasses I guess). So, we went out and bought disposable coffee cups to use in the room and that worked well for us.

The rooms have a sensor in them that causes the air conditioner to shut off during the night, or during the day when no one is in the room. We called the "front desk" and they sent someone to override the system so that it would stay at a set temperature. She was super sweet and showed my hubby how to do it again if it happened to stop in a few days. We never had a problem again and the temperature was always comfortable for us.

Having stayed at all of the moderate resorts now, I would probably rank Coronado at the bottom of my favorites in the moderate category, but I would definitely still stay here again. There wasn't anything bad about our stay, it is just a preference. We were in Cabanas 8B and we liked the room location. I had requested 8A, but they assigned me to Ranchos 7B prior to check in. I did not do online check in because I wanted to see if that helped get my room request I had placed on my reservation (I also did touring plans fax request for a room in 8A). When we got the room assignment at check in, she mentioned my room request for 8A and said that they put me in a room in Ranchos to still be near the main pool. I asked politely if they had any rooms in Cabanas as I liked the overall theme of them better. She went to the back to ask, and they were able to move me to 8B. The walk to the main building wasn't too bad, but we didn't go that often. We used the Cabanas bus stop each day and never waited more than 8-10 minutes. We hardly used our refillable mugs though because we didn't feel like walking to El Centro at night after the long day in the park, and the pool bar closed at 9:00 so the refills there weren't an option for us. I really wish all moderates would add refill stations a few places around the resort :)

We were in room 8624. It was a nice room on the parking lot side of the building. It was corner room and very close to the bus stop. The mousekeeper was good. The room was always clean when we returned at night. There weren't any magical touches, but she did she did a good job and I can't complain. The room was fine, but I could see signs of it being ready for an upgrade. Nothing big stood out. Some of the furniture was scratched pretty good. The wooden doors didn't completely shut together to the closet/sink area. The shower curtain didn't keep all of the water in during a shower so the bathroom floor was really wet after a shower. These aren't deal breakers, but little annoyances. I'm sure that once the refurb is ever completed, these rooms will be awesome.

I have to say again.....we thought the resort was beautiful and we had a great stay. The dig site is awesome and had so many fun options to keep the whole family entertained. We would definitely stay here again. We would probably just choose either Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans first because we liked them just a little bit more. After the room refurbs, we will probably give this one another shot though!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread as I really did get a lot of helpful information from it while I planned my trip!

Thanks titansgal! Definitely glad you mentioned about the toaster and room cups... I will plan for that now!
You're welcome. I'm glad it helped someone :) It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but if I had known ahead of time, I would have planned differently for sure with my packing (and saved a few bucks since I had to buy expensive cups at Goodman's grocery because I was in a hurry to return the rental car). I'm sure others find it a nice perk to have real glasses though.

My husband & I are planning a long weekend trip in October to celebrate my 40th. I'd never considered staying CSR before but most resorts were already booked when we finally moved forward with reservations last month. I spent the past month reading this thread (all 263 pages!) & enjoying the pictures. Thank you to everyone who posted such detailed reports & pictures. I'm getting excited about our stay at CSR!

We stayed at CSR for an unplanned short trip because Pop was booked (where we usually stay). I have to admit, I'm spoiled now and we will be staying at CSR for our next short trip. We used to stay at Poly but switched to Pop to save LOTS of money (so we could go more often). CSR is a great compromise for us. It feels like a resort instead of a value motel, without the deluxe prices. I hope you have a great trip, Virge!

I would like to do an on-line Check-in. I would appreciate if somebody can tell me the process and the questions you have to fill-in.

Or if there is already a thread about on-line check-in, can you please point it out? I did a search and I'm not getting anything. Thank you.

It's really quite simple! In MDE, under My Reservation and Tickets, you will see your resort reservation listed. On the right is a link for "Online Check-in". You will fill in information like your estimated arrival time (which is good for room assigners to know, especially if you're arriving either very early or very late!); your estimated departure time on your check-out date. You can link a credit card which will be used for your room charges and I believe you will set a 4-digit Pin. (I did mine several years back when they were testing this whole set-up so all I see now is that my Pin has been set!)

There is also a screen for you to make up to 2 room requests. If you made room requests previously, leave this blank, since any requests you make during online check-in will override anything Disney already had in the system for you.

Once complete, the link will change to "Modify Check-in" so you can always go in and make changes.

You can also give a cell number and email to be notified when your room is ready. Often times people haven't even arrived at the resort yet and they know their room number! (in which case you can go directly to your room - your linked Magic Bands should open the door!)

Make sure everyone in your party uses their Magic Band to open the door - that activates them.

I hope that helped! :)

Just did mine today! You could choose from Cabanas, Ranchos, Casitas, ground, lower or upper floor, near to El Centro or a bus stop. You could add a pin number and link a credit card. If your'e in the US (Which I'm not) you could add a mobile number for notifications.
I chose Cabanas and upper floor. I'll probably ring a few days before arrival to talk it through with a CM!!

Mine had no option to select Casitas. This is what I showed:
