Question: We've just booked a "King Bed Room". Any idea where those rooms are located?

(As previously mentionned, we requested Casitas/High Floor... *Fingers crossed*).

We do the same thing. Last year we asked for an extra luggage rack and had no problem getting one. I called when we got to our room and then we went out for a quick dinner. It was in the room when we got back. I think I also asked for extras towels at the same time which were also left for us.
thank you so much! Was trying to find compact travel ones with no luck!

I'm pretty sure there are King rooms in every building. Top floor Casitas 4 is an awesome location if you can get it! :thumbsup2

I would love to get... any casitas building! :lmao: Top floor must be nice. I hope we get courtyard view but as long as I get a Casitas, I'll be happy.

I stayed in the farthest ranchos building last year and wasn't bothered by the walk.

If you look up touringplans website it will show you which buildings have King Rooms. You may want to upgrade to a King Water room as those show only in Cabanas or Casitas.
We originally booked a King Room with Free Dining last May. Was able to upgrade to a water view in August(and our room rate went down) and then saw a BC King room open up about 3 weeks ago. We paid a little more $$ but not the normal rate and we got to keep the free dining.

If you want to upgrade your reservation, just keep checking the site for availability during your times and when you see something better pop up, get on the phone and give them a call. They have been known to give special rates for "upgrades" to reservations. :hyper:

CsR is the only mod we havent tried....

What are the pros? Any cons?

What to request? Do they have connecting rooms? ( we are going with our friends who have never done Disney)

Thanks all!

Super comfy queen beds.

Sliding wooden doors that separate the bed area from the bathroom vanity area (great for privacy - changing, getting ready when others are still asleep, etc.) Sorry - I don't have a fantastic picture of this. :( But you can sort-of see it in the bed picture above.

A fantastic pool with a fantastic slide!

Does tipping at the front desk help in getting a requested location, or not really? I know that at some places this is kind of a thing..

Let's call a spade a spade. What you are suggesting isn't a tip. It's a bribe.

Bribing a Cm won't work. Any Cm caught accepting a bribe would be fired.

No, this wouldn't work. It isn't needed! CSR will do everything they can to meet your request without a tip! Also, I noticed you've posted over 1200 times. I'm surprised you would ask??

I'm not trying to cheat my way into something. I'm not bribing anyone or risking anyone's job. No need to be harsh. I just know it's common practice at some hotels and I don't want to be at a disadvantage if I'm the only dummy who doesn't know what's what.

Your rate went down by upgrading? Wow!

Definition of BRIBE. 1 : money or favor given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust.

If it walks like a duck......

If you have a location that you want to request, then call Disney Reservations and have your request noted on your reservation. That is the accepted method for Disney resorts. The room assigners will do what they can to grant it. If, on arrival, you find that your request wasn't granted, you could politely ask again if they could switch you to your preferred location. An attempted bribe would not enhance your chances.

Pros, besides all the great pictures Ilivetogo posted:

*pretty central location - it's not a long bus ride to AK, DHS or Epcot. MK is a little further, but it is for most resorts.

*great gift shop

*multiple food options: Maya Grill (TS), Pepper Market (CS), Café Rix (grab-n-go CS), another quasi-TS place that's new that I can't remember the name of, Siesta's pool snacks/bar, lake-side bar.

*good playground for kids with swings and slides

*hammocks by the lake

*the pool is great enough to mention twice: my kids love the slide (and so do I!)

*fitness center, if you want to work out on vacation, plus salon and spa if you need those services

Yes, they have connecting rooms. I know our room in Ranchos 7B, pool-side, connected to my cousin's room. Not all rooms are connecting.

I like to request corner rooms because they have two windows and seem to be a smidge bigger than the other rooms. But I don't think you could get a corner room that connects. We've stayed in Ranchos twice and Cabanas 4 times. I like Cabanas a little better for location, but the Ranchos theming is very cool with the cacti and rocks and the architecture of the buildings.

Cons? The only thing I can think of is that some people think the resort is too large. I prefer to think of it as spacious. :thumbsup2 I think the lake in the middle is beautiful and makes it feel more resort-like and I truly feel like I'm somewhere besides Central Florida when I'm there. I like that the buildings aren't so close together. We stayed at POFQ once, which gets a lot of love here on the DIS because it's the smallest Moderate, but I felt like the buildings were too much like actual New Orleans -- too close together and not enough open space. To each his own. Also, some people don't love the Pepper Market CS option, but we've found it to be fine.

Enjoy your planning and sharing the magic with some newbies!

Thank you for all the pictures! That's awesome!

Thank you both for taking time to tell me about CSR! I love the look of the rooms! And it looks stunning at night!

I have tipped in Vegas to receive upgraded preferences. It is common place and I don't feel the question was out of line considering the majority of the industry.

Thanks, but I already got my internet spanking (from you, actually) for asking an honest question and I don't need another. I also already own a dictionary and speak English very well, so I am not in need of your condescending lesson either.

I don't appreciate being spoken down to or jumped all over for asking a genuine question about a common practice in the worldwide hospitality industry, when a simple "no", or "that's not Disney's policy", would suffice.

It's too bad some people need to act like tough guys on the Internet. I guess if it walks like a bad apple and it talks like one, it really does spoil the whole bunch.

I'm glad that they are willing to go the extra mile regardless. That's awesome. Why would my post count mean anything? I haven't been to a park since 2010 and I've never stayed on site. Actually I've never gone for more than a one day Disney trip... And I live only 3h away!
I live in a tourist-heavy town (our population probably doubles in "season") and tipping at the front desk is definitely not unheard of. In some places it's expected.
A lot of my posts were when I was planning a DCL trip and you do pay your tips up front on a cruise.
