Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

While we are on the topic of tips.. Who all should I tip while staying on resort? Obviously the meals require tips but what else? I come from a small town and tipping everyone isn't exactly something people do here. I do not want to appear rude or disrespectful toward any staff or such.

Hello all,

Has anyone seen the November times guide for the resort? Wondering what movies will be shown and what other events might be going on at CSR.

TIA

Thanks, but I already got my internet spanking (from you, actually) for asking an honest question and I don't need another. I also already own a dictionary and speak English very well, so I am not in need of your condescending lesson either.

I don't appreciate being spoken down to or jumped all over for asking a genuine question about a common practice in the worldwide hospitality industry, when a simple "no", or "that's not Disney's policy", would suffice.

It's too bad some people need to act like tough guys on the Internet. I guess if it walks like a bad apple and it talks like one, it really does spoil the whole bunch.

I also don't understand the snippy replies you have been getting from some posters to your simple question. I guess it's because I also live in a tourism-heavy town and these "bribes" are often offered to secure not only an "upgraded" room in a hotel but a table (or a table in a better location) in a restaurant or entry into a dance/night club. It happens, as noted, pretty commonly in Las Vegas and many other cities around the world. You simply asked if such a practice is active at the WDW hotels. I, too, don't understand why the implied "morality" lesson is being given when a simple "no, such a practice is neither welcomed nor effective at the WDW hotels" would have sufficed.

On a side note, by the "bribe" definition, I guess I have been "bribing" my mail carrier, my gardener, and my child's teachers for years since I have given them generous Christmas gifts - mostly to thank them for the year of service just passed, but I won't deny that the gifts are also to "influence the(ir) judgment or conduct" for the coming year.

We are planning a trip for February, and I'm thinking of returning to CS since we loved our last stay there. I am thinking of booking the dining plan, but when I looked at the restaurants included in the quick service section Pepper Market at CS isn't listed. Can anyone confirm this? :confused3

We break from this interesting conversation to give you a....
single digit dance!!

Does tipping at the front desk help in getting a requested location, or not really? I know that at some places this is kind of a thing..
It's commonly known as the $20 trick. You wedge a $20 in between your cc and licence and ask if there are any "complimentary upgrades". I've worked for a large well-known hotel chain for many years and its very common. Nobody looks at is as a "bribe"...except for some people on here, and its always worth a try. Good luck!

Pros, besides all the great pictures Ilivetogo posted:

*great gift shop

*multiple food options: Maya Grill (TS), Pepper Market (CS), Café Rix (grab-n-go CS), another quasi-TS place that's new that I can't remember the name of, Siesta's pool snacks/bar, lake-side bar.

*good playground for kids with swings and slides

If you try the "$20 trick" at a Disney Resort and the CM accepts, they are jeopardizing their job.

Please don't encourage this behavior. Thank you.

As someone who travels around the world for business and pleasure, I think the question is completely in bounds here and even helpful.

As for CMs accepting money and jeopardizing their jobs, that's on THEM. All they would have to do is hand back the money and say something like "Whoops -- here you go, sir."

If they aren't "allowed" to accept these tips, which is really what they are, I'm sure they've been trained on how to handle the return of the money without making a scene.

They are always late to be added, but have always been on the plan in the past. I would be stunned if they weren't. Especially after all the changes they made to make it a traditional food court.

I know this has probably been posted but......Can I call in my room request like which building I want for my Preferred room or should I just fax my room location request?

We check in on Nov 1st?? I think today is when I need to fax it if I am going too.:goodvibes

We are preferred ,but I would like to request Casitas 3.

No one answered my question.

It's customary to tip anyone who handles your baggage, usually $1/bag is the norm. So if you have Bell Services bring your luggage to your room, you should tip them.

Some guests tip the housekeeping service (around the DIS, commonly called "Mousekeeping"). It's not required. We usually tip about $1/person/day, rounding up to $5/day for our family of 4, and leave it for the maid daily in case their shifts change.

Of course, you'll trip for table-service meals, 15%-20% of the bill before tax. Each dinner receipt will have 3 suggested tip amounts calculated for you: 15%, 18% and 20%, so no calculator required. :thumbsup2

As for the tipping for better rooms, not only is it not accepted practice at Disney, it sometimes goes against you. It's well-documented here on the DIS by front-desk CMs that guests who either ask for an upgrade or try to get one by way of the slipped bill, are not only NOT given an upgrade, it's sometimes noted in their files NOT to grant upgrades in the future.

I don't know that faxes are actually looked at any more. I'd just call and have it noted on your reservation. Good luck!
