Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

I agree... POR had horrible bus service at times when I was there. I guess it's hit or miss no matter where you stay. Pop & AOA had the best bus service I've ever experienced so far.

I guess so, the best we have had was at ASMO, POP and POFQ. But we will see about CSR in 11 days:thumbsup2

My friends (along with my DD 11 who is with them) checked in this morning around 9:45 am. They were pleasantly surprised that their room was ready and they were able to get in right away to leave their stuff before heading to AK.

Since getting back from AK they have walked around the resort, and checked out the BC lounge. They love it so far. They think their building (9B) is the best location in the entire resort. They enjoyed a couple of beers and the snack offerings in the lounge and are on their way to the pool now. :woohoo:

This resort has bar none, no argument the absolute worst bus system out of any of the resorts. It's laughable.

We've stayed at several Disney resorts and have found CSR's to be at least in the top 2, if not the best.

POFQ: Pretty good, except if the bus goes to POR, then it takes extra time to hit all 4 of those stops. The best thing about POFQ was being the first stop coming back from the parks.

All-Star Sports: We actually had a good experience here. We never shared with any of the other All-Star resorts, and once we were the only people on the bus going to Epcot - it was like our own private transport.

Old Key West: Fair. We were at the 3rd stop of 5, and it seemed to take a long time to meander through the resort to each of the stops.

Wilderness Lodge: Fair. Great going to MK on the boat. Not so great for the other parks. We thought it took a long time to go to FW to pick up there. Once after eating there we went to DTD and that bus was shared with GF -- it took an hour to get to DTD.

CSR: We've typically had waits of less than 10 minutes for a bus to a park, there have been the odd occasions where we waited 20-30 minutes but those instance have been few and far between. We do drive to DTD, though; the bus does take forever to get there and back, but in our experience, that is not just a CSR flaw - all the Disney buses seem to take extra long to/from DTD.

Wasn't planning to do online check-in, but I just did it now and requested Cabanas.. Hopefully that's what we get. Casitas wasn't an option. We leave Saturday!!!! :cool1:

Yeah, why isn't Casitas an option? We were going to request it! Even if it was unlikely to get Casitas, it would have been nice to be able to note it as a first choice so if one was available we could get it. We put Cabanas instead but that's not a guarantee either so I'd just as soon have requested Casitas

We are arriving on Sept.25th for our first stay at CSR. I attempted to do online checkin but we were not able to request Casitas section either. I wonder what is going on with that?

Most of the Casitas are preferred rooms, that may be why it is not an option.

Hate to say we are not liking Coronado. We had requested Cabanas with a connecting room. We got Rancho section not connecting. We finally got connecting rooms but still had Rancho section. When we got to the room there was a frog in both rooms. The beds are so bad I have not slept but maybe 3 hrs a night, this first resort that this has happened. I really wanted to like this resort but we don't. Will not be back.

We requested Casitas this summer, but not through online check-in. We called and asked them to put it on our reservation and then we faxed a request a few days out. We requested Casitas 5, and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived! :goodvibes

Here now... Can't really complain about much... We requested cabanas for 2 family's and we both got it.. Then we decided we like to try and be rite outside the quiet pool and they accommodated us no problem... There seems to be a pretty big convention happening, but so far there's been no disruption in our vacation...this place is so quiet...love it......2nd time staying here

So DD and friends are headed to MK this morning. They grabbed a quick breakfast in the lounge. DD says the fresh fruit is great, with lots of berries.

They only waited five minutes for a bus. They say only three other people besides them got on at El Centro, and that they were the first stop. The driver had nothing lit up on the sign and when he stopped they had to go up and ask him where he was going.

Oddly, the bus stopped at El Centro first, then 4, 3, 2, and El Centro again, and 4 again. :confused3

DD says the bus is now jam packed and they are on their way to MK. She also says the driver did not stop at the stop sign on the way out of the resort. :rolleyes1

So, only 5 minutes for a bus to come but another 20 minutes spent circling the resort bus stops.

ETA: They enjoyed the Dig Site pool last night, checked out the playground, played giant checkers, and played a few games in the arcade. DD says she loves it there and wants me to choose CSR for our pre-cruise stay next year.

Requests are not guaranteed, you can't use that as a factor for not specifically liking the resort, you could be at any resort and not get a room request. Sorry to hear about the beds, I believe the put in new mattresses a few years ago but maybe they need replacing again! I kinda felt like this about CBR last year, really looked forward to staying there but was disappointed, I've stayed at CSR before and loved it that's why we are going back, well and because POR didn't offer free dining. I booked preferred before and this time doing business class. When we stayed at CBR we didn't book preferred and had the longest walk to everything, I will never not book preferred, it can really put a damper on your experience if you are put in an undesirable location.

Now that I think about it it's probably been 6 or 7 years since they replaced the beds.

Hoping for a good location, the preferred and business class rooms were already full when I booked my trip - 7 months in advance! Looks like there are several conventions going on, including Gartner Symposium. Any tips on getting a good location when preferred / bc is not available ?

I'm sorry you're having a tough time with the busses. After really great bus service at POFQ in May 2013, we stayed again this past Feb. and it was TERRIBLE because we went to POR every-single-day regardless of time of day, and spent 20 minutes going to all their stops. Then dropping them off-first-on the way home from every park, every trip, every night. Never happened in 2013 and I know it doesn't always happen. A Dis'er I had been talking with was there at the same time but we never did the same park the same day. She never ONCE shared a bus with POR for the entire week we did lol! Very weird, great for her but turned us off to FQ now. So busses can really be hit or miss and change the tone of a trip.

However, we were just at CSR for the first time 8/26-9/2 and had the best bust service (AOA came pretty close :)) of all our on-property stays. All waits were under 10 minutes except one which was close to 20, still reasonable in my book. That was for a MK bus which was pulling away as we approached the stop but it was too darn hot for us to run for it:rotfl: I really don't know what can make it so bad but like I said, I understand how bus service can negative affect a trip. Hope it gets better.

My husband liked the bed at CSR better than our top of the line bed at home lol! Sorry you're finding it uncomfortable. And while we didn't find any frogs in our room we did see them all over and certainly heard them around the Casitas fountain at night (which is where I prefer them, outside). I guess it's the nature of the area as far as reptiles are concerned. Think of it this way; better frogs than the cute little gator who was hanging out by the bridge between Cabanas and Casitas being in your room :scared: I do hope the fun you have in the parks makes up for the not so great resort experience pixiedust:

That is strange you don't like the beds. Coronado spared no expense on the matresses in their beds. They are among the most comfortable I've ever slept on. DIS is full of praises on the matresses at CSR. Even people who hated the resort have commented on how great the beds are. Most claiming the beds were actually better than the deluxe reosrts.

Strange yours are somehow different. :confused3

Unfortunately room requests are not guaranteed and every resort is full of people who didn't get their room requests. Not really fair to judge any resort based on that. That is why we always pay for a preferred location of some sort.

I stayed there in April and the bed was horrible. I was in so much pain from the bed that I could not sleep. I asked for an egg crate topper and housekeeping said they know how bad the beds are.

I suppose its possible some are worn out as refurb starts in January. But I stand by my earlier statement the beds at CSR are second to none and there are hundreds of posts on DIS stating the same thing. We have 36 nights at CSR under our belts and had a great sleep on all of them.
