I always book my package as soon as rates come out (hopefully in the next week!). When and if a discount comes out I call and have that applied to my reservation. There is no extra cost or charge to do this. I just like having my plans made as soon as possible since I know I am able to add discounts later... From what I understand with Magic Bands, you will get those a few weeks before your trip. If I am mistaken on that, someone chime in!!!

Next May will be our first stay at CSR and we are so excited to try this resort!

We booked our September stay before we knew if they would have FD or any other "specials". To me it all depends on if you are going to go during that time regardless of if there are specials or not. We knew we were going to go during the time we picked even if there were no specials. You can always add the specials on after if any come up.

We arrive at DW on August 31. MDE says we have until July 31st to customize our band and then they will be shipped out. I think it's more of a time frame than when you pay off your vacation.

We have never had a "charge" to change our package. The only thing that would change the price is if you add days, add tickets, possibly if you have a discount on the room but decided to go with the FD instead it could change the price but I've never heard of or actually been charged a fee to change our package. That could all depend on how close to the actual date of your vacation you decide to make changes I guess.

Thanks for you responses. So I could book a package later this month when rates come out for our trip in May 2015 for a BC room at CSR for 6 nights with PH passes for 6 days, with ME for transport to and from and later change it if they offer 6 day passes for the cost of 4 and 20% off your room rate if they offer that again come January 2015 ( that offer has come out the last two years, but I realize there is no guarantee that it will be offered again)? Thanks again for the help!

Yay I managed to get an 8.05 reservation at Crystal Palace one morning. My question is what time should we aim to be at the MK for if we want to get some photos in front of the castle before heading to the restaurant? Also, do you think it's best to take a taxi from the resort that morning? Or would the resort bus be ok? What time do they even start running?

Bumping.. Anyone know?
Just wondering really, if we use the resort bus, what time should we be at the bus stop for to make an 8.05 ADR, and have time to get photos in front of the castle?
Thanks!

We had the same time last year and made it no problems using busses. I believe we were out by 6:45.

Thanks! Did you have enough time to get photos etc too?
Yes, they let the masses (honestly a TON of people do this, between CRT, CP, and BBB) so even with our 8:05, I bet there were at least 100 people in front of us when we got in line. And they didn't prioritize 8:05 over 8:30. I'm not sure how they knew who had ADRs. Some people report being asking but I never was and have done this twice. But they opened the gate at 7:45ish so plenty of time.

Hello, I am in the very early stages of planning our WDW trip for next spring. I realize that 2015 rates are not out yet, but it got me thinking. How early do people book their stay? Do you wait until the special offers are announced for your stay or do you book a package as soon as you know the dates you will be going? Is there an advantage to booking early and then modifying. It seems there may be a cost to change your package. I know you can start making ADR's 180 days out and there is some early time frame for FP+ reservations. but other than that it just seems soooo overwhelming. I have been trying to read as much as I can from these forums.

Another question, do, they send you your magic bands once you pay for your package?

I know we are going in May 2015, we will be staying at CSR and the flights shouldn't be a problem as I have more than enough airline points to cover it and there is a regular daily schedule to MCO from our airport.

Thanks,

we booked our package as soon as we could at a year out. Then we could just make small payments on it. It doesn't cost to change your package as long as you change before the 45 day mark. We switched to CSR from POR to get free dinning. couldn't tell you about the MCO we drive. oh they don't mail your magic bands until about 30 days out, incase you change resorts or something

You can book early for a package and then change it up to 45 days before your vacation. Disney can hold of on discounts though. They do not have an incentive to offer a discount if the resort is booking well. That is what happened this year with free dining. POR and POFQ were both excluded. If you have a room type you definitely want and don't want to miss out on I would definitely book early but if you don't care about the room and want a certain discount you may want to wait. If you are worried about the 180 +10 for reservations toy can always book a room only and then cancel it this will not affect your ADR'S.

We don't do Disney without a discount and if the resorts are booked, there is no reason for them to offer any discounts. We wait until the specials are released. I don't get hung up on certain room types or even resorts, I go where the deal is & we've always been happy with that. I do call early in the morning the day the specials are released & usually spend over an hour on the phone. Totally worth it to us though.

Hi,

We booked last year to stay at CSR this year for the above dates (22nd Aug-05-Sept), we have a waterview room prebooked and have only just started reading about the refurb which is beginning in August.
Any idea how this will affect the resort? We requested a room in the Cabnanas area on our booking but if people are being moved from Preferred room to waterview will there be enough rooms avail?
Never stayed here before and really didnt want to be in the Ranchos area as have heard there are some issues with the distance to the Digsite and Foodcourt!
Any details greatly appreciated

I've booked different ways. I've done bounce back, book a room only and then added a package when they came out, and just waited for packages. If you have your heart set on a specific room then book the room only. If you can book a bounce back, it's usually the most economical.

It's very easy to change your reservations and won't cost any extra for the change as long as it's more than 45 days out. Any upgrades or anything costing more you'll have to pay of course, but it'll be part of your total. This year I changed resorts, then changed dates, then added free dining. Very easy.

Since CSR doesn't share busses with any other resort, what is the easist way to get from CSR to breakfast at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary? Do we just need to call a taxi?

I would go to the front of the resort and have them "wave a taxi". Its the quickest way to get to another resort for an ADR from a resort. Usually less than $20 fare w/tip.

Checking in tomorrow for 2 nights BC before we head to DVB Resort for 3 nights! We love the club level and think it's worth every penny! I'll update on check-in and the room tomorrow morning!

Not sure where to ask this... Someone let me know if this is the wrong place!
Can guests at one resort use the pools, etc at another resort? Let's say we were at Kona for lunch -- could we hang out at the Poly and put our feet in the pool? Bad example since their pool is likely to be closed during our visit. How about trick or treating? Can we trick or treat at another resort?

Pool hopping is strictly prohibited. Guests may only use the pool at the resort they are currently staying at.
