We are staying at ranchos 7b

You are staying around the same time as us. I am going to book a preferred room. We have stayed in Ranchos, but it is such a long hike to the main hub. We aren't big on the pools so this location will be great for us, real close to the margarita bar.:thumbsup2

Before they had the Business Class rooms at CSR I always booked a waterview. Not because I sit in my room looking at the view, but because there are no waterviews in the 3 buildings at CSR that I absolutely don't want to be in. So the waterview guaranteed me a room I could live with. I also found that when you have paid for a room that is an upgrade over standard they work a little harder to put you in a room you want.

The 3 buildings with no waterview are Ranchos 6A, 6B, and 7A. You also won't be in Casitas 1-3 (preffered) or Cabanas 9B Business Class. So your possible locations are Casitas 4 or 5, Cabanas 8A, 8B, or 9A all facing the main lagoon or Ranchos 7B over looking the quiet pool.

My preferred choice of those is Casitas 4. I use the Fitness Center which is in that building, it has an extra large quiet pool, and close to busstop 2 the first pickup for the parks.

Casitas 5 is halfway between the food court and Digsite pool area, about 5 mins either way. The Cabanas buildings are very close to the Digsite. Ranchos 7B if farther from the food court than the other choices, but is very quiet and has a nice scenic quiet pool.

THANK YOU for sharing this information!!! I have been trying to book Preferred because I don't want the long walk, and Business Class is a bit out of my budget. A Waterview room would be about the same price as Preferred, and still keep us near the bus stops (which is what is most important for us). THANK YOU!!!!

Planning for a big trip with my IL's, 11 people total. We will be at CSR for the holidays in 4 rooms - hoping to be in same area, not expecting adjacent rooms.

Had a few ?s: first, I have read there is an internal bus system but is that mainly for to/from check in? FIL has knee drama and I have hip issues; we are good 99% of the time but wondering if we overdo or torque wrong one day do we have some back up? (FIL is a bad luck magnet medically... Has a propensity to visit local ERs when travelling *smh* :-) )
Second, is there any way to use DP for room service? I know some places have the ability to use credits for pizza... just wondering if we can use for anything else?
Finally, MIL is a holiday junkie and a little bummed we aren't doing traditional holiday at home. Have a small tree and decorations to surprise her with but was also thinking of decorating windows... do people do that at CSR? Nothing crazy, maybe lights and garland? I know the rules (no tape, timers...) But didn't know if other people decorate?

TIA and excited to go!!! CSR was first choice for farm so FD was bonus!!!

If you use Bell services after you checkin they have large golf carts and will take you and your luggage to your room. As of about November last year CSR has an exclusive internal bus that circles the resort stops 1-4 in order then over to Blizzard Beach and back around the resort again. This bus runs all day and the entire loop including BB takes about 15 mins. You do have to go to a busstop to catch it though. It's really nice if you want to play mini-golf at BB.

We never used room service but if I recall correctly CSR is the only Mod resort that has room service other than pizza. I'm not sure if you can use DDP for it.

This year will be the 4th Christmas we will spend at CSR. The lobby IMO has the best tree and decorations of the Mod resorts. And yes, every year I see some rooms decorated for Christmas. Even the odd tree in the window! So go for it if you want to decorate your room. Every year my wife says she wants to, but we never get around to it. Maybe we'll join you in decoration this year! :thumbsup2

There are two mini-golf courses at BB. As you approach the main entrance from the parking lot they are to the right. One has a winter theme and the other a summer theme. These are your typical mini-golf courses that take about 45 mins -1hour to play. This is where I would recommend taking smaller kids to play and is also very convenient for something to do when staying at CSR. They are open year round even when BB is closed for refurb.

If you are looking for a more challenging authentic game of mini-golf then go to the Fantasia Gardens located at the Boardwalk area past the Swan and Dolphin. This is a real grass, real golf with a putter experience that will take 2 hours to play. This is a must do if there are any golfers in the family.

I didn't really realize that the other mini-golf (besides Fantasia Gardens) was at BB. Cool. :-)

We did the mini golf near BB last year (it's called Winter Wonderland, I believe) and it was so much fun! We will definitely be going again in October. There's something extra fun about a fake snow machine in Florida.

Regarding the internal bus...what hours does it run? I was mistaken in that I thought it was just the resort busses you could catch as they drop off/pick up at each stop. Would love to learn more about that bus system.

So does the BB bus say Blizzard Beach on it as the destination? Don't you get a couple free rounds of mini-golf with the MYW package? I know, a little off topic for the CSR resort thread, but I figured you guys might know then. :-)

The new bus service sign reads "Blizzard Beach/Internal Bus". It goes to the 4 bus stops, then to Blizzard Beach and back to the 4 bus stops.

The new sign with the BB/Internal bus update didn't specify hours when we were there in December. I assume same hours as other buses. This Internal bus is something new that started last November.

I believe you do get some free mini-golf passes with your pkg. I believe though it says in the fine print they have to be used prior to 4pm. They want you to pay during busy hours! :lmao:

Question isn't really off topic as CSR is the only resort that has an internal bus linked to BB. Almost like its part of the resort! Especially when the whole loop takes 15 mins you know it will never be a longer wait than that. I would suspect that the mini-golf attendance numbers there are up slightly just from making it so easy for CSR guests to get there.

Wonder if they'd be open the morning of the 4th of July...? Thinking of some resort time before heading to Epcot for dinner and fireworks. :-)

They are open Christmas morning so I'd assume 4th of July as well. WDW doesn't stop for holidays! :)

Yes, before 4pm. Last year we had to RUN from the bus stop to try and make the 4pm deadline. And let me tell you, I don't run, ever. Especially in the FL humidity! (the bus ride took longer than we expected) Although we presented the vouchers at 4:03pm, they honored them (there is a big digital clock, that's why I knew we were late). I think the guy felt sorry for me huffing & puffing away, all out breath & red in the face from running. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the reminder about the mini-golf passes, bus route info & pictures! :thumbsup2

I had completely forgotten about the mini-golf and we have a whole day on our trip with no plans .... check out Christmas decorations at the resorts (esp GF gingerbread house!), DTD, etc. Mini-golf would work great that day!
