Thank you for posting your experience. My husband and I will be staying this coming August and I'm excited but still worried bc so many ppl seem to not like this resort, for all the pics I've seen it looks beautiful. It's also great to know they treat our military well. My husband is currently in the army, Got back from Afghanistan in sept. This is our needed get away!!!

Thank you to your husband for his service as well. My dad was military and I have great respect for those that honor and protect our country. I hope you have a great trip!

Oops. Checked my email tonight and had a FD PIN so was able to change from CSR to POFQ. Maybe next time. Hope everyone has a wonderful stay at CSR. :flower3:

Maybe POFQ was added in due to all the DIS defectors. ;)

Military Disney - thanks so much for your report! I am glad to hear the size of the resort hasn't been an issue for you. It's really my only concern.
We stayed at POR in 2007 which was back before preferred was a bookable category. The kids were 10,7,4 at the time and it was a challenge getting around the resort efficiently with the little one due to our room location. I didn't book preferred for Coronado as we're more interested in Cabanas or Ranchos. So, we may have a hike to the main building, but the kids are 18, 15 and 11 now. So, no worries.:goodvibes
Can't believe we have to wait 7 months!:upsidedow

Cassiejo, thanks for the kind words. Its always reassuring to know people back home value what we do.

Faylynn, if I can be of more help, just let me know. I know the feeling of being worried to try somewhere new. Our original reservations were at Port Orleans Riverside. My wife wanted to try somewhere new. But for as beautiful as the resort looks, the fact it shares buses with FQ and that it has no gym really soured me. I was more than willing to just suck it up, but she knows how much I love lifting, especially when I'm on vacation eating all that dessert. So she changed back to CSR. On the condition that next time we stay at the Poly lol.

Do the windows have any sort of blinds or just the drapes?

Typically the PINS include some extra resorts or dates over and above the public offer. Different tastes for different folks. Personally POFQ is one of the last resorts at WDW I would stay at. I find the theme extremely unattractive.

We're in the same boat. We love CSR, but my wife and son would like to try something different. However CSR is the only Mod with a Fitness Center. Because we go for 2 weeks at a time not just a few nights it would drive me crazy to go that long without somekind of workout. I would love to stay on the Boardwalk sometime, but when you price out the 2 weeks in December we normally go it is a $3k+ upgrade. We always default back to CSR becasue I just can't see myself getting $3k more enjoyment out of a Deluxe resort when CSR has all the same amenites.

Will be staying at CSR in exactly a month. This godforsaken deployment is over in two week! :cool1:

Congrats on your near future homecoming! We are AD as well and will be there just before you but thankfully this isn't an after deployment trip...(been there done that too many times). Enjoy your well deserved vacay!!!!

Do we have a log on the thread to say when everyone will be staying here?

Booking a split stay for July. 7/2-7/7 we will be at CSR! Then we move to the WL for 4 nights. :-)

Yeah. We only go for 7 days at a time right now, as with not having kids, its easy for us to fit in most things we want to do in 7 days. But even then, 7 days is to long for me to not get in a gym. I just get stir crazy and grumpy. Once we have a young one though, and he/she gets of age, we'll look at a longer extended trip each year. That being said, I better start saving now, as the wife isnt going to want to stay in CSR for two weeks at a time.

Guess its time for me to look into the vacation club option!

Have you ever thought of renting DVC points? This is what we have done the past two years to stay deluxe, this will be our first time staying moderate since we've had children. We used davids vacation club last year and they were wonderful, I would definitely recommend them!

Hi, My family and I will be staying at the CSR from 12/23 to 1/3. We chose CSR because we are a family of three adults, a tween and a baby. To get the free dining it was CSR or CBR. CSR has queen size beds it was a no brainer but Im so worry. We had gone to Disney so many times and we had tried all the value a some of the deluxe but never a moderate. For this trip we wanted to stay at POR but it is not available with free dining and I don't have a pic code. Im worry about the resort being so big. I will have a 1yo and my mom has mobility issues. I can't afford a preferred room. I read that the food court work differently. Im so worry I screwed up this vacation. I just need reassurance.

As far as your concerns of a big resort, POR is quite large as well. All the moderates, with the exception of POFQ, are large and spread out. I don't think you will have any problems at CSR that you wouldn't also have at POR. I am guessing you will have a stroller with a one year old so that will be fine. How will your mom get around the parks with mobility issues? There is so much walking with a Disney trip, a little more at the resort won't be that big a deal. There are several bus stops so you won't be terribly far from the closest one. And you could be just as far, if not father, from the one bus stop at a value resort without preferred. You can board any bus (except Downtown Disney) and ride it to El Centro if you are worried about the walk to there from your room. The food court isn't a big deal. You order what you want at a station, they give you a piece of paper. You can go to another station and get something else and they add a stamp. Then you eat, and when you are done, you take your paper to the cashier. You will figure it out quickly and they will help you if you have any questions. You didn't screw anything up. You are going to Disney -- you'll have a great time regardless.

I have given it some serious thought. The biggest obstacle is how far out you have to book to get what you want. Typically we book CSR in July or August for a December trip and have always been able to get FD at that time. My understanding is that you need to book DVC points a good 8-10 months out? Although we usually know our approximate dates that far out, I'm not sure we can commit to exact dates at that point. If we could book a BWV or BCV 4 months out we probably would, but for a Mid Dec trip that seems unlikely from what I read.

We booked 7 months out and it worked out, but yes the downside is you can't change your dates once you book so it's not flexible, this trip we will have a three month old so I wanted the flexibility of booking through Disney and free dining! As long as you can commit to the dates though davids was great!

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. :)
