Hi. We just got back from the Poly on June 13th and today I made our reservation for our Dec 05 trip to CR!! This is my dh's dream to stay in the tower, so we are going to split our stay between CR and AKL. I have a couple of questions.

View is VERY important to me. We have a tower room with a MK view requested. I will upgrade to club level if it guarantees me a MK view. What are your thoughts about this? (I found out how important view was on our last trip when we couldn't get lagoon view and it really bothered me)

I've booked this trip as a package but will make adjustments as the codes come out for AP or AAA. I couldn't pay the HUGE deposit for room only since we have just spent gobs of money. Do you think changing my reservations will be a problem if could codes come out?

We will be myself, DH, DD6, DD8 and will invite our DS19. Is the room large enough to accomodate us all?

What will my girls like the best about the CR?

Thanks for your help. Oh, and how do I get a counter on my signature?

Just go here DIS counter and follow all the directions. Then make your first post with your counter on the Test Board.

Hope this helps!

I think the room will accomodate you all. We had the 4 of us there last year, plus a playpen and it was big enough for sure. There are 2 queen beds and a nice sized couch that pulls out to a twin daybed. I believe the rooms are the second largest standard rooms on property, at about 430 sq. feet. There are two nice large sinks in the with shower, and the toilet is separate from the bathroom area. The only pain thing is that say if your 19 year old is showering, dad can't run in to use the potty, cause you have to walk thru the shower area to get the the toilet.

What will they like about the CR? Lots! Just being on the monorail is a lot of fun- it is a "busy" feeling resort, even if it's not that crowded, so you feel like you're in the middle of all the excitement. The shopping is the best of any resort I have been to, and I have at least visited them all except AKL. Chef Mickeys is something I think you will have to do at least once, and staying there you don't have to worry about the hassle of getting there on time. You can WALK to the Magic Kingdom, a HUGE plus; the monorail has to stop at the TTC, the Poly and the GF on the way to the MK so it can take up to 15+ minutes to get to the MK via monorail. However, the CR is the first stop on the way back from the MK. Lots of water stuff to do- a nice enough pool (not as themey as other high end resorts), lots of boats to rent, a boat launch to Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge if you wanted to dine at one of those places. You girls will like the voices in the elevators (hee-hee!) and the Food and Fun center has a good assortment of cheaper (for Disney anyway) snacks and a very big arcade.

Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think your family will like it. And hopefully you will get the view you want!

As far as the "voices" in the elevator mentioned above.... They didn't have them during our trip the first week of May.

We're staying at the CR for the first two nights of our vacation in August. We have already asked for north wing, standard view. Is there anything I should be aware of or ask for specifically upon check-in?? thanks

We will be arriving at the Contemporary early (8:30ish) in the morning and am wondering if we should park at resort, let them know we have arrived and then head to MK or just park at MK and check-in later in afternoon? What would you do? We don't know about parking since this is the first time we'll have a car at DW.

Thanks, Daisy:sunny:

Oh, definately check in first. They'll store your luggage for you. Park at the CR and then you could either walk or take the monorail to MK.

Ask for a room where you can see the fireworks!

Nothing like curling up & your jammies for your *own* private show! ;)

hi all, does anyone have a link to pictures of the cr pools? thanks in advance.

Here's a link to pictures on Deb's page. If you scroll down to recreation and fun you can click on links to pool pictures for the CR. CR Pool link from Debs.

hi folks, just a couple more questions, please, for anyone who has stayed in a 14th fl consierge room with mk view. is the view of the mk as good as the view from a suite up there? are the rooms on the 14th on the side of the hotel that's closest to the mk? also, since all the rooms and suites on the 14th floor are smoking-optional, has any non-smoker who has stayed in one of the mk view rooms been bothered by smoke from other rooms or from the hall? and does anyone know if the lounge up there is non-smoking or smoking-optional? thanks in advance

This thread is beyond helpful ~ thanks for having it!

We are staying on Tower Club 12th floor for the first time this Nov/Dec and I have a few questions and hope that someone will be able to help me out.

1 ~ Is there a different check-in for those staying here or do I just check-in at the front desk like usual?

2 ~ Will someone contact me prior to arriving about helping me arrange PS's or is this only something done on the 14th floor? If so, how far out do they traditionally contact you?

3 ~ Is there a special elevator for those staying on the 12th & 14th floor?

TIA

We stayed on the 12th Floor Tower Club in May. To answer your questions:

1. You go to the front desk to check-in the same as everyone else.

2. You should be contacted by mail to arrange your PS, but I would strongly recommend that you make them yourself as far in advance as possible. We tried to get a Chef Mickey's PS for any one of the four nights we were at CR and could not get in at reasonable time. We also had trouble with PS for the Concourse Steakhouse. Finally gave up and ate over at the Poly. And this was during a slow time of the year. As a matter of fact, I do not think the Concierge helped us with any of the PS we actually used. Maybe that is why I do feel the Tower Club was not worth the extra costs but do think the Concierge at other resorts is worth the cost.

3. The elevators for the 12th Floor is the same ones as all the other floors. The only thing is you need a card key to access the floor. When you enter the elevator, you need to insert your key into a slot in order to press the 12th floor button.

Another warning is to check your bill very closely when you leave. We kept getting charged for the refrigerator in our room which we did not use or ask for. DW went to the Concierge Desk twice and the front desk once before the charge was actually removed from our bill.

If you have not heard from the concierge staff by about day 100 out, call or email them.

phone: 407.824.1775
fax: 407.824.3461
email: wdw.contemporary.concierge@disney.com

(note: I emailed 2x and they didn't receive either)

They made all my PS's for me about 95 days out, even Cindy's. Much easier than waiting around for them to contact you and/or getting into the "phone que" at 7am when you are at day 90.::yes::
