Hi Denise,

what a great site! We will be there in mid Dec, do you think a lot of this construction will be done? I'm more excited about the room than anything, so I'm not concerned, but it would be nice to know.:)

Thanks!

Hi!

Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it.

The store should be done. Much of the lobby is done, but not the sitting area. I know they were hoping to be done this month, I'm not sure if it will be - but they may. The outside will be ongoing, there is a lot to do on that! But the outside construction hasn't been loud ever when I've stopped by, and I've gone there to take pics nearly every week for months now.

Of course, the downstairs restaurant (going in where the game room was) won't be done until next year.

Uhhh...the lobby is not open?? Do you still check in in the lobby?

The lobby is open - there has been ongoing work for months. The main sitting area is blocked off. Over the last couple of months, the front desk has been worked on in sections - that is complete. The Food and Fun Center closed, the coffee bar has been moved twice - but isn't yet in it's permanent location (it's really out of the way right now).

We arrive Dec. 15th and I was wondering when we should get our paperwork for our trip has anyone going around that time received theirs yet?

We booked a standard view Garden Wing but I would be happy sleeping in the parking lot I am so ready for a vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They were mentioning the last time that the statue from Fantasia wouldnt be coming back. That was disappointing as well.

The mouse ears are up on one side of the shop.

If you are waiting for documents on a package, it's still early.

I'd taken photos of the ears on the shop, it's moving along quite quickly at this point.

Hi!

That is my site, I was trying to figure out where on the DIS I was getting so many visitors from. :)

I'll be back there again probably next week to take photos, and will make sure on the opening date. You can tell it's close to ready by the photos, I would be surprised if it wasn't open by the end of the month (but the day after T-giving was what I was told). Occasionally it's been loud with construction, yesterday there wasn't any appreciable noise from the store that I noticed. And the outside construction is going fast! :) Lobby won't be open as soon as they expected, but it's getting there. And the Grand Floridian gingerbread house is on its way up too!

I have really enjoyed checking your site for the progress at the CR. I'm going in about 3 1/2 weeks and have been concerned about the noise in the concourse. Looks like it should be finished by the time I check-in on Dec. 2!:smickey:

I'm planning on mailing a couple of packages to the hotel this week. I read somewhere that I need to send them UPS or FedEx because they deliver directly to the hotel. They went on to say that the postal service just delivers to a central location and then they are sorted and delivered. I'd rather be able to track it day by day, than get there next Friday and not know for sure if they are there or not. Does anyone have the address that I need to use?

Thank you very much! I am glad it's helped. It should be done by then, and it looks like it should be (sometimes a date is given for completion and the project doesn't look like it's moving quickly). :) I will be back there next week, on the 13th I believe.

I'm still not sure how to get a request on my ressie at the CR. When I made the ressie online I requested a pretty view. Thats all the space would allow!!!! Should I call, fax, something to request a high floor, close to MK, anything? Who can tell me how to do that? Thanks!

We are regulars for CR and the Tower. Typcially in the rooms, we do not hear anything unless you walkd to the door and stood next to the entry way.

Once you step out into hallways, that "atrium noise" instantly immerses you: Chef mickeys singing, plates/silverware banging, monorails rushing through, people conversaion, - general hustle/bustle. For us it is all exhilirating and part of the atrium "ambiance" that makes us love the CR - if that makes any sense. It is definately different from say the darker quiter hallways of AKL or other resorts.

Oh yes, from inside the rooms, we hear things outside the building as well: the bells whistle from trains from MK railway, horn toots of the ferries, boats, fireworks going off. Not enough to keep you from sleeping in your room but part of the ambiance and then - step outside - enjoy the scenery and immerse yourself in it all.....

You've so nicely summed up why we love the CR so much!!! :cloud9:

Most people disagree with us but, all the more rooms available when we book! :)

Thank you very much! It isn't fancy, but I can't believe I've taken like 7k pics this year. I was asked not to post the link here anymore back in June, so I don't. :) But I plan to continue to follow the CR construction, though maybe not on a weekly basis next year. We'll see! Maybe just like 2x a month. :)

Heres a link I found helpful. There are a bunch of addresses for the resorts listed of post #5. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1404800

Good luck and have fun.

You should call the CR 5 days before your arrival at (407)824-1000

They won't guarentee requests, but they try to honor them when possible:goodvibes

Our request to stay at our upcoming trip this December is "high floor" because that was what we considered important (we have a guaranteed MK view). You should be able to call put something like that on your resservation any time. If you want, you could also put "high floor close to MK".

FYI, in one of our stays we got the lowest floor possible - far end from the MK. If you are stuck with this room, your view is not bad but the roof of the convention center is in a lot of it. We requested a change then and there and that was granted.....

Thank you sooo much! I just made the call and they were more than helpful!!!

Hmm, that's strange, I just called the same number and tried to get a "high floor close to MK" request on my reservation (12/1-12/8) and the lady told me you can't do anything in advance and that I should just request this when I check in that day? :confused3
