My parents and I did not think it was that bad. Some itmes we left in our suit cases and other items we decided to put some stuff in the closet and drawers.

We also did not have a problem and there were 5 of us, DD&I used our suitcases, not a big deal.

There are drawers on only one side of the closets, but you can hang stuff in there too, I put our DS's clothes in there, DH used the drawers near the bed and we really only hung up our sweatshirts from home. If you all like to unpack, then there may be a tight squeeze but I'm sure it's managable. This is what I was saying about this resort not being so much a small "child" friendly resort, it's definitely more like a high end hotel with bad sinks :lmao:

Hi Everyone....

The storage is one of my concerns. We are going Nov 29-Dec 8th. There is myself, DH, DS 13, DD 9, DS 2 and my mom. First my dilemia is what to pack. I know I have to be prepared for cold and warm weather. We had gone Aug of 2005 for 15 days. lol i packed tons of clothes we all ended up wearing the same 3 outfits...the coolest shirts and tanks cause it was ungodly hot!! However we had the convenience of a washer and dryer in the room.

My other concern is where do we store the luggage if we don't unpack them all? I can see from some pics where the connecting door is to the other room there is a space that I thought I might be able to pile them up on top of each other there. Last resort would be putting them on the balcony lol.

Anyone recently coming back from the contemporary....any advice would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

The 2 drawers by the bed are large and hold quite a bit. There's also a large (tall) cubby-hole next to them that holds a lot of stuff (I stored a small suitcase there). Around the TV there's a lot of shelf space that we used. We also used one of the sinks as counter space and the other as an actual sink. There's plenty of storage under the sinks. There's really no less storage space in the CR rooms than at other resorts.

There were 5 of us and we did have issues. But, one of our kids is potty training and one of them is a baby---and you know how much stuff a baby needs;)
We hated--HATED the sinks! Cool looking but not functional and neat at all.

I couldn't unpack all of our things. What I ended up doing is keeping 1/2 of the stuff for later in the vaca packed in the suitcases, stacked in the toilet area...that area is pretty big for some reason. Anyway, after 1/2 of our trip was over, I reunpacked and repacked our things. It was kind of a pain with 3 little ones running around--but we dealed.
We were there for 7 nights.

Thanks for the responses so far. Are there 2 closets in the rooms? and if so is there room at the bottom to store the luggage? or are there drawers in there also...thanks!!!!

Can someone tell me what the temp Grab n Go has available for breakfast? Any pancakes or anything or is it just cereal? Thanks.

There are two closets and one of them has the room safe at the bottom, where as the other one had nothing at the bottom.

From what i have been told about it, I don't think they are selling anything like pancakes and other hot items for breakfast. So I think it's stuff like cereal and other cold items.

I found enough storage for everything I'd packed for the 5 of us for our week. But it wasn't ideal. Between the drawers and closet, there was enough space for our clothes. And the shelf under the sinks held our toiletries. But it was all the other park "stuff" that ended up having to go on the desk and on the shelf below the TV. It's hard to keep that stuff corraled with 3 little ones running about. I definitely would have liked more drawer space.

Thank you everybody who responded. And also those of you who thought about responding to my question but decided not to.

To sum up what I've learned here today: there are drawers and a safe in one of the closets; nothing in the other. There are some drawers under the desk and the sinks are nice looking but not practical.

So here's my next question: are there drawers by the refrigerator. At Wilderness Lodge, there are drawers above the fridge which are great for storing snacks. Anything like that at the Contemporary?

Hey if anyone has room pictures, I'd love to see them.

If no one has recent room pics I will try my best to remember to take plenty of room pics next week, including the closet and fridge areas.

Does anyone know how long the Contemporary will be under construction? I am looking to book in the Spring of 2008? Thanks.

Thanks!!!!

I was there last December so not too recent but still same room set up.

The room that the toilet is in is HUGE for having just a toilet. You could definately fit your luggage in there and they would be completely out of the way.

Like Resort fan said, there are 2 closets. They are ok sized--not big but not super tiny.
One does have the safe and 2 small drawers that are about the width of half of the closet and maybe 6-10 inches deep (?) That one is harder to hang things in since ther are drawers there. You can only hang shirts or shorter type clothes in there.
The other one had nothing in the bottom.
One of them also had the ironing board in there.
There are 2 very shallow drawers under the desk type area for the computer. They are kind of wide but definitely shallow.
That was it for storage.
I think my hubby and I alone would be fine there--maybe our 10 year old also, but not our other 2 kids.
As I stated earlier, I stored our luggage in the area where the toilet is. It is a separate room with a sliding door for privacy. For some reason this area is very long--much longer than one needs for what it is used for. So, I laid our luggage in there, stacked. It was out of the way completely in there. I didn't want it in the closet only because we had some longer items to hang and they kept pooling on the luggage, so that is why I moved it to the other area.
HTH!!:)

We were there the first 2 mornings this was open. Maybe they have or will add more, but when we were there the only hot thing they had was a muffin shaped type thing with scrambled eggs and cheese in it. One also had bacon I think with the eggs and cheese. It was just ok in my opinion.

Oh yes....there was a small cabinet type thing that had tiny sliding drawers to put food items or whatever. I think there were 2 of them if not mistaken.

Thanks that helped me quite a bit. The idea of storing the luggage where the toilet is sounds good. Glad to know that option.

Thought of another quesiton...Since all of the renovations in the hotel going on...is there still room service? Was depending on it for some breakfasts. Thanks!! And can't wait to see your picture after next week honeymo78...I hope you have a great trip next week!

I don't see any reason why there won't be room service. The only kitchen affected by the construction was the old food and fun center and I doubt that is where they prepared room service.

As to the person asking about construction in Spring 08 - at some point in the spring (april?) the concourse steakhouse will clsoe and construction will begin on the permanent quick service location. That should be the only interior construction going on the spring - of course they will still be working outside on the new building.

In the original hotel rooms, there was a shower stall in that space in addition to the tub in the other section of the bathroom. In later renovations, the shower stalls were replaced with sinks and vanities. Now there's nothing -- except a great place to store your luggage.
