Denise - Have a wonderful time!! I want to see that chocolate monorail, too. DH ordered one for us when we stayed CR 14th floor Nov '04, but the concierge screwed up and it never was made or delivered. :guilty: I forgot about them, but it sounds very cute. You all will love the CR. It is just bustling with excitement and Disney action. I really loved walking b/f to the MK. :sunny:

In your sig, is that the friend that had lung cancer? I thought she just found out - Did she pass so quickly? I am so sorry. How awful. :grouphug:

Lives4Disney :)

Hi! Yes, we are so excited. I hope they deliver the chocolate monorail. DD and I'll eat it ALL! and yes, June,is our friend off the t-shirt thread. She died on 9/4, less than a week after they found the lung cancer. It is terribly sad, and we all miss her so much. She loved Goofy more than anything, and the Goofy statue was her favorite!

Momplanner22-

The sculpture is just to the left as you go out the back entrance towards Bay Lake. It has to be one of the most popular photo spots for families in all of WDW. We had a nice view of it, but never got a pic with family this time.

As for a room, by December all the available rooms in the hotel should be refurbished, assuming they close the North Wing as expected on October 1. So, I would request South Wing, as close to the Tower as possible.

We had reserved a Garden Wing Garden View also, but when we got there (early) our room wasn't ready...so we upgraded to the Tower room and got in a room right away. It was worth it!

What time did you check in? We are staying at the CR for the first time and while I'm just glad to be at this resort and I'd happily take the Garden Wing room we reserved, I'd LOVE  to get upgraded.
I'm not getting my hopes up since I know this doesn't happen much, but what an awesome way to start your magical vacation! Congratulations!! :thumbsup2

Q?

We'll be doing a split stay & transferring over from BCV.

Unless car rental rates drop, we'll be using ME & luggage transer @ hotel.

Just wondering...

any thoughts/experiences as to how early we might be able to gain access to our room @ CR?

We usually don't get into any room before 3 or 4 p.m.

Wondering whether to head straight for hotel or spend time @ parks first.

TIA

Are you staying in the Tower? We'll be on the 12th floor and arrive around 11am on Saturday. It's me, DH, and our BBG triplets age 6. Hope to see you there!

We'll be in the Atrium Club as well. You guys shouldn't be hard to find!

We checked in at noon and were assigned a room right away. (end of June).

A few questions for a possible CR first timer ...
Would a "Garden Wing, Garden View" be one of the newer rooms, the refurbed ones or are they still in the process of being refurbed? What rooms have been refurbed, if these haven't been yet? Can you see MK at all from the Garden View rooms, and what floors are they on? Does anyone have the map for Contemporary, we're curious how its laid out, thanks!

PS. The newly renovated rooms look amazing!

In reply to the person who asked how long it takes to get from Illuminations back to the CR. We watched the entire 9 pm showing of Illuminations in August fromt the back of the big cement area in the center of the lagoon between FW and WS. We were in the area between the 2 gift shops. We left after the show was totally over. The 10 pm showing of Wishes began about 5 minutes after we walked into our room in the North garden wing at the CR. We took the monorail, and obviously made it back to our room in well under an hour, without rushing. I had figured it would take a lot longer. We did not rush out of Epcot, but we didn't linger, either.

CM @ CR told me that all the rooms are now renovated, except the North Wing. Rumour is that it will be closed beginning of Oct., & torn down along w/tennis courts for new DVC TS.

Garden View refers to the small, north & south units.

Tower is Bay, Park or various concierge levels.

allears & site sponsor have lots of pics & maps (can also find on WDW site).

Thanks, we might spring for the tower MK view .. do you think its worth the extra $100+tax per night? We were going to stay two nights so it wouldn't be so bad in the total. I told them that the view wouldn't be as good with a garden view so they wanted to look into the tower MK view.

just got back from atrium club room and I was so happy that I got my request of magic kingdom view!! the view was incrediable and we watched the fireworks from room ....from now on I will always go for the magic kingdom view!!

Did you check out AAA's travel website (even if you're not a member it might be worth your while for rate advantage) for price breaks...they were within $10/night of AP rates for our dates in Oct.

We've never "splurged" on the CR, decided to only stay 2 nights there instead of 3 in order to be able to have the MK view. The thought of sitting on balcony watching the fireworks, as opposed to worrying about the crowds leaving the park appeals to me.:thumbsup2

If you go with garden view, I believe the observation deck on 4 (concourse level?) offers a nice view - not sure about crowd conditions though.

Hope you "under 10's" have great weather for your trips...ditto for the Columbus week gang.

we joined aaa for the discounts alone- we save everytime we book just about any hotel room...including disney (most recent reservations with room and ticket packages saved about $500 per room)

So glad you had a great trip! How was the Atrium Club, especially for kids? We arrive on Saturday, and we are so excited!

Thanks! I will try to hunt down that area. It is going to be the first day of our trip, and I want to make sure we don't get stuck in a huge crowd getting out.

Hello All

We are GF lovers, but are wanting to try the Contemporary next time we plan our 2007 trip.

I was wondering if you could offer any advice for Castle Views.
Are the Castle Views guaranteed? I mean can you specifically reserve a room that looks at the castle?

Any insight would be appreciated :)

we booked atrium club and requested mk view- we got room 4829 and it had an incredible view of gf, poly, and the castle....
