What does this mean for Contemporary guests?

I read that the resort monorail won't be impacted. So you will still be able to get to MK on the resort monorail, and also to the TTC to hop over to Epcot. The express monorail between TTC and MK will be down, so people will have to take the ferry instead.

Just wanted to jump on here for the last time and let everyone know that everything is ok on the home front, but I did feel better getting home late last night and being here just in case. Have fun to everyone who is either still at WDW, just got to WDW or will be arriving soon.

We are considering switching from the Poly to a garden wing, standard view at the Contemporary. Any pictures/videos I have seen, I don't see any dresser. Is there any dresser drawer type space in the standard rooms? We stayed at GF last year, and we loved it, BUT the big drawback for me was there was very very little drawer space. I need to be mentally ready for things like this. :rolleyes1

There are 2 large drawers in the bedroom area and 2 small drawers in the closet. There are pictures of them on the 1st page

Hi, I have never stayed at the Contemporary before, but am planning on staying there during December of this year and I have a few questions that I hope can be answered here.

I am currently planning on booking a TPV room in the tower, is it much better than the lagoon view? What are some good requests to make before check-in? I'm slightly worried that a TPV on the lower floors will not be worth it, but don't want to do club level either.

As far as transportation, does the Contemporary share buses with other resorts in the area or are they dedicated? Lastly, is taking the monorail to the TTV and then over to Epcot a viable option, or would it be faster/easier to just take a bus?

Thank you.

CR does share buses with the Poly and GF. But we never found then to be overly crowded. To get to Epcot, we took the resort monorail to TTC, then switched to the Epcot line. It took a half hour or so, but better than a bus IMO :)

Hello everybody!!!! Has anybody used the Direct To Room Online Check In Process for the Contemporary yet? My Check In isn't until August but would like to know ahead of time. Hopefully by the time my Check In comes, Disney would've worked out the tech kinks they might have.

We will be staying at BLT 2 bedroom lock-off lake view. I am hoping for some suggestions for a room request. I tried looking at the published maps, but I am having trouble figuring out what might be best. Any suggestions?

We just booked a BLT 1-bedroom lake view for 3 nights, Oct 23-26! We have never stayed at the Contemporary or BLT before, so we are really excited. Our son will be 2 years old on Oct 20, so we feel like a 1-bedroom will be perfect to give us a little privacy while he sleeps. I am going to read through this thread as much as possible and check the DVC boards for any room request suggestions, but if anyone has any input, that would be great. Also, if there is anything at BLT or the Contemporary that would be perfect for a 2-year-old, please let me know. We are not DVC members (we're renting points), so it is my understanding that we cannot access the Top of the World Lounge.

Is your son into pirates at all? Or Peter Pan? We did the Pirates & Pals fireworks cruise in October and had the best time!! It leaves from the CR and is an amazing way to view Wishes without the crowds. Kenny the Pirate has a great review of the event on his site. We did ours on a MNSSHP night so that we could see Hallowishes again :)

As to the merits of theme park vs lake view, you can get people making passionate arguments for either one.

Me, I've always stayed theme park view.

You're very close to the park. The castle and space mountain really dominate the view. (As opposed to, say, Poly, where you can see the spires of the castle, if you look for it). When you're outside, you'll hear the "puff puff puff" of the steam train. You'll hear the music and the fireworks from the stage show in front of the castle. You'll hear people making noise as they go over Splash Mountain.

Many people really resent the fact that you'll be looking over the parking lot. Me, it's not a problem, because the parking lot is well below you.

Me, there's nothing wrong at all with the view from the "lower" floors. The lowest floor you can get, with a theme park view, is 6. And the sixth floor is probably 100 feet or more above ground level.

On the lower floors, when you're lying in bed, there will be a slight vibration when the monirail passes underneath you. Not annoying or anything. Just enough so that you'll notice.

Chef Mickey's. Get your reservations as soon as you can. (It fills up). I'd recommend at least breakfast. You might want to do dinner, as well.

It's a great, really filling, meal. And you just can't beat having Muckey and Goify and all come to your table for autographs and pictures.

(Although, yes, I will mention that some kids just get terrified when the characters get about three feet away. I guess they're a lot bigger than on TV, or something).

Ok silly question... If we arrive and our room is not ready, is there a place to change out of our "airplane" clothes (maybe besides a bathroom) that we will have access to?

Looking forward to our first stay at the Contemporary in just 17 days! First time going during spring break from 3/27 to 4/6. We usually go during the summer months. Our only concern is that we will be arriving at 1:30 am. Other than that we will also be going to Sea World for the first time.

We actually took the escalator up to the 2nd floor where I think the conventions are, they have couches and really nice bathrooms.
