Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I haven’t been following this thread for quite a while for a variety of reasons. However, I recently found out I won a D23 Sweepstakes that included a 4 night club level stay (amongst other amazing things)!! We booked fairly quickly due to kid’s schedules and it’s coming up August 1st at the Grand Floridian RPC. We’ve stayed there before, but not since Feb 2020.

So is there anything new with RPC that I should know, or any changes either good or bad I should be aware of? Any new advice or things to watch for or ask for?

I got a call from someone from the RPC last Tuesday and she chatted for quite a while about details of the schedule and asked if I had any questions. I’ve only gotten a pre arrival call a couple of times in the past (and never from RPC), I thought it was a nice touch and she was actually friendly and helpful.

Congrats! Well, since 2020, it has been completely renovated/updated. It looks beautiful. Offerings are a bit different. The one thing that stands out is no more afternoon tea. If you do a quick search on YouTube, you’ll find a few videos showing the updated space, as well as the current offerings! Enjoy!

That's amazing, congrats! It's good to know folks actually win those things. Have a great trip!

No more afternoon tea?! That’s so sad, that was one thing that set the GF apart from the others- and I loved the trifle and scones (I can’t remember if they had both of those last stay or not, but they did have tea).

I know, tell me about it! I rarely enter things because I always figured no way I would win, but for some reason I clicked through on the D23 most magical sweepstakes and my membership was all filled out so it was easy to enter. Then I didn’t believe the emails I got saying I won, I assumed they were phishing lol.
Congratulations @ninafeliz! Have a great trip & let us know how everything was! :goodvibes
Thanks, looking forward to being back!!

Just off the phone with Disney trying to adjust a non-CL reservation, and I had the best CM who gave me some great tips on bouncebacks!

1) From what I gathered during the conversation, these are in two different buckets - room only and packages. He specifically told me if they do not see availability for room only, I should ask about room-only package availability, as well. He literally told me, "This is how I just searched for this, so be sure they search that way if you call and are not getting the same results." (ETA: PLEASE SEE COMMENT BELOW, this is not true)
2) I have a split stay coming up, and my hope is that I can call on my arrival day and see about getting the BB applied to the second stay (CL, currently at rack rate). He told me that if they are unable to waive a penalty since it is within the cancellation window, I can move the rack rate stay out so that it's beyond the no-cancellation window, and book a new BB reservation. Then I am free to cancel the original one.
3) And we probably have all been realizing this: if there is an y chance at all that you will be going to WDW but you're unsure about dates, etc, pick a night that's pretty far in the future, say, a year from now, and just book it using the BB. Once your plans are more solidified, call and change that reservation.

Wanted to share this with my CL buds :). Will report back in a few weeks on how well #2 (and maybe #1) worked!

Congratulations!!! I was there in December 2023 and posted a bunch of photos at that time. I thought it had improved since my prior stay :)

Thank you for sharing. About #3, I thought you could not modify a BB booking at all or you lose the BB discount.

Do you know for sure we can modify a BB??? If so, I have one I need to change! I just haven't done so because I thought we weren't allowed ANY changes. Thanks.

You can modify a BB as much as you want. You can change the length, the dates, the room type, switch to a different hotel. There are certain dates excluded (ex. Almost the entire month of October) and sometimes there isn’t a lot of availability under the bounceback offer. Other than availability, you are free to modify your BB as much as you like. One more caveat is that you do have to call to modify (can’t modify it online) which can be a pain if you want to test of lots of different dates/hotel combos.

First thanks for the update. Now the bad news. The CM was either confused or lying to you and it was complete BS. When he was searching for you he was in the Travel agent system (Walt Disney Travel Company (WDTC)) aka home of the Packages.

There is only one bucket of BB rooms. They can be booked as Room Only (RO) or Package. Please note that if you book a BB package only the room is discounted and only for the dates included in the BB offer. Any days you add before or after the BB range will be at Rack Rate.

Here is a link to the Discounts Sub Forum Thread that @vinotinto keeps updated with BB Dates:

https://www.disboards.com/threads/bounceback-information-and-faq-thread-25-35-off-bouncebacks-are-back-for-2024-2025.3680214/#post-59165493

The BB offers are always Room Only (RO) offers. The CMs have to switch between 2 systems. The RO offerings are in the regular reservation system, require 1 night room deposit. and you are able to cancel 5 days before arrival (Note: in 2025 this changes to 8 days) before arrival with no fee. For a package the rules are different. You only need a $200 deposit and you must cancel 30 days before arrival to avoid a fee. Packages don't have to include tickets, it is often referenced at a ticketless package.

And many CMs don't bother, are lazy or need more training to properly switch between the 2 system modes since it takes CM time.

I definitely don't think he was lying - I suspect he was confused. And also, damn! In the past, I knew I had to ask about switching to a room only res as opposed to a basic (ticketless) package, so I did think it was odd that this has never come up before.

I guess we'll see how the onsite BB goes...he did check to see if BB was available for my upcoming stay, and it is, so that would be freakin' fabulous.

(hmmm, he did give me a weird answer about something else, so now I need to call back about that...gah)

Thanks for this response, added an ETA to my post.

Yes, and this I knew already - you can modify dates, resorts, etc, as long as the offer is valid during your dates. Obviously, the room availability and all that may vary. One thing was new - it was the first time I'd had a CM encourage me to take advantage of it in this way!

There should not be a fee if you are "modifying" your second reservation just to add the BB discount for your Split Stay. Is it currently booked as RO or a ticket-less package?

Yes you can reschedule your current CL stay into the future and the CM should waive any Fee. Then remember to cancel it. And as reminder to all DISers, you are able to schedule multiple BB return visits so if you get the BB rate applied to your CR CL stay, you might want to consider making a placeholder BB stay for some time in 2025.

Note: You can make multiple BB reservations and even multiple rooms only limited by how much money you want tied up in deposits.

Unfortunately even many CMs don't understand how BBs work. Did the CM happen to try to explain why you could not change your BB dates?

Note there is no valid reason but it would help other DIS members know what to look out for as they interact with CMs.

She said there were no changes allowed outside of the seven day booking period of the qualifying trip. I tried to make the change about six weeks later.

You just have to make the reservation either while you are onsite or within 7 days of your checkout. I’m sorry you got such bad information. 😕

That’s one of those situation where I politely hang up and call back to get a different CM.
