Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I apologize if I missed this discussion but would be interested in knowing if anyone has concerns about club level buffets? We have loved and used club level for many years but are feeling a little trepidatious about the possibility of Covid-19 virus germs getting on the serving utensils, dishes, direct contact with the food etc.
Do you think they may alter the way the food and drinks are served ( CMs serving rather then self-serve)?
We have a club level ressie 5/23-25 that we will cancel regardless of whether WDW opens by then, to err on the side of caution. Basically wondering if when we reschedule whether club level will be the wisest choice. Forgive my neurosis... just hoping for some feedback from my trusted DISers.
I’ve been wondering the same and the question was brought up a few pages ago as well. Everything is speculation at this point, of course, but we are anxious as well about possible changes to our beloved club level stays even if they are open.

I am most experienced with AKL Club Level and have been passing the time trying to imagine how they would enact distancing protocols. Sure, they could seat people six feet apart, but how do they decide who gets a table and who doesn’t? Will some families need to be turned away from the lounge, and/ or will there be a time limit? Will they block off that awesome couch where we park ourselves with liqueurs to watch Marvel movies every night? The chef there already plates the appetizers and it would be easy for them to wear gloves and hand out the plates; however, I would imagine that the buffet might be CM-served for a while, which would certainly add a significant amount of time to assembling any of the meals, with that time factor increasing per person in your group. The CMs are already very good about bringing drinks for guests, so perhaps the fridges would be emptied and all beverages would be served by staff, but I think this would all run them ragged. Just thinking of the morning coffee rush makes my head spin trying to imagine how they would get the guests caffeinated, fed and on their way to the parks in the mornings!

I apologize if conjecture doesn’t belong in this thread- I have been thinking about this a lot lately as we really, really want to keep our June stay, but if it’s too removed an experience from what we know and love, I’m not sure I am that keen to experience it.

This is totally valid. I feel 100% the same way. The way in which club level food is presented/served will definitely have to change in my opinion. Not to mention changes to the physical space.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the initial club level becomes a stocked mini fridge and food basket, treats, etc delivered to the room once or twice a day.
Maybe they will finally supply bottles of water rather than a shared water dispenser and cups. That would be nice .
Hopefully whatever they choose is worth the price of the upgrade. Wonder if they will utilize room service credits or something like it.

i definitely think they will change how food is served. I could see a cm serving it. I also don't see them changing the refrigerators. Grabbing a beer or beverage is the same thing in my mind as grabbing any item at the supermarket. I also don't forsee them sitting 6 feet apart. I can't imagine how a theme park would work if people couldn't be closer then 6 ft apart. I didn't give it much thought though. I guess we will wait and see.

I do wonder if a lot of people are feeling this same way...when we go back, let's go big! As in, let's do CL or stay longer or try a deluxe for the first time. I know I've been thinking that same way.
I think those that can will (as if they were taking 2 vacations in one *raises hand*) but I think just as many people are downgrading/not going after the financial setbacks/disasters this has caused them.

The problem with that will be if word gets out. Which it will within a couple days. From what I’m seeing the last couple weeks of June Deluxe resort availability is fairly good. If word gets out CL has become a joke and there are no cancellation penalties a lot of people will downgrade to a normal room... (myself included).

I think it will become a lot more CM service. 6 feet won’t happen so imho we’ll have to be at a point where that’s ok in that state before it all opens. After that we could see a CM stationed to plate basically everything. Sign is out with the menu, tell the CM what you want and it’s handed to you. Might even rope off areas around the food to stop people from trying to enter...

Personally I’d be fine with that. Obviously I would rather get my own stuff (pick the ripest fruit, do the dish with the least sauce, whatever) but I can see a CM able to pull that together fairly quickly to pass back to me probably with some modifications to the menu to enhance efficiency... (and the already hygienically questionable children’s station is a goner 😂 just sayin...)

The only way the Covid-19 virus would get on the utensils is if the employees and the guests have the virus. We would hope that by the time WDW opens there would be procedures in place to make sure the employees were healthy. The club lounge is just a small part of a trip to WDW. There are a lot of surfaces that a guest touches in a day.

If I decide to take a trip to WDW then I would have to be comfortable with everything: buses, rides, rooms and restaurants, including the club lounge. :) By the time WDW opens, I don't think social distancing will still be in place. Maybe you can be six feet away in the lounge, but that would be the only place it could happen. I really don't see big changes come to a club lounge after things open up.

I think it's just hard to know. Disney has all the options from closing CL for awhile to safety modifications.
I believe they will be careful about avoiding as much as possible exposure to their cast members and to guests.

We are tentatively planning a trip in fall of 21. Here's hoping life has returned to relative normal by then. :flower:

Its really hard to use the forum search function on my phone so I apologize for the repetition.

What time can you access the lounge on check in day? And how late on check out?

Thank you!

Now, what about if you're doing a split stay or you arrive to check in before your room is ready?

We've done split stays already where we're one place one night, and then head to the AKL CL (our favorite) for breakfast the morning of our check-in day. They will welcome you to the CL that morning, as long as the lounge is open! If I recall, we do have to stop at the front desk to make sure our MB is set up to get to the CL floor (at AKL, you need to swipe the MB (or a card) in the elevator to get access to the lounge). If you are staying club level, you'll get full access the entire day you check-in, through the entire day you check-out.

What is the difference between a one bedroom suite and a deluxe suite at GDT? I can't find the distinction on the website.
Hey I know that!

I did the deluxe suite twice. There are 2 versions with apporox same size..
One bedroom with a full bath, a 2nd room with queen sofa sleeper and a 1/2 bath.

The 1 bedroom suites are the size as one of the deluxe versions plus another room. So close to the size of 3 rooms.

The best way to see this is on the room finder tool.

I didn't find video of the 1 bedroom. The pix on wdw show a more upgraded bedroom and should be accurate.

I loved the deluxe suite! Having the 1/2 bath with 3 adults was great. Compare it to the RR 1 bedroom villa? The villa was more swanky but less convenient with 1 toilet.
