Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Hi, all. Anyone else a little leery of the Club Level food situation once things reopen? A bit too communal?

At least the beer is bottled...

I finally canceled our 20th anniversary BWI CL trip for the end of April. It had to happen but it took me a while to do it. My DH said we will just have to plan a do-over next April. :love2:

I did schedule a backup family trip for July BWI CL, so we will see how that goes. Even if it doesn't happen, the planning helps ease some of the stress and worry.

Hope everyone stays healthy and safe.:flower3:

Agreed that the planning helps! I have three possible trips in the works now — our March trip currently rescheduled for June, an alternate week at the end of September being researched and priced right now, and a short, deposit-paid trip in early January to run the WDW half marathon that could be made into a longer trip if the others work out.

It might be excessive, but the options make me feel better!

It is hard to cancel! I had an end of March trip booked that was cancelled and while I didn't book an April resort right away, I did book airfare for 4/30-5/3 to take advantage of the low fares (used points so not out any money if I cancelled). I didn't have that too long before cancelling once Disney announced being closed "until further notice". Looking at dates in June, but might push out to August.

I do agree that planning something does help ease some of the stress. I hope your July backup trip to BWI CL goes as planned :wizard:.

If our July trip ends up being cancelled, I’m debating about doing CL next April. We already have a Disney Cruise planned (Fantasy 7 day cruise) for Easter week and I’m a teacher, so I wouldn’t be able to do an extended Disney trip as well. Was thinking about 3 days before in Disney and using the CL FP perk since it’ll be a busy week with such a short trip. Any disadvantages? Aside from the money aspect

Happy Monday everyone! I still want to post my review of our recent Jan stay at Poly CL. Now, I seem to have more time so I will work on that. :bored:

Could someone link me to the CL info page on the AK lodge? I went back in thread and don't see it. Thinking about a stay there next year.

Thanks!

Thank you and sorry for all your canceled plans. Fingers crossed for late summer!

I'm afraid that what you are saying is going to be the reason that Disney uses to remove all or almost all of the CL food and have CL just be the extra CM help. My reasoning is that Disney is going to be desperate to save as much money as they can when they finally open. The best way is to eliminate all of the food and drinks with the exception of individual cans of water and soda and beer. They could even close all the lounges if they could get away with saying that they want to try to keep guests from being to close together.

This exact thing was done right after 911. We booked a stay at the Royal Palm club at the GF. We had stayed there before and boy were we shocked when the 5-7 time period had been changed to "wine Hour" and all the food had been removed and all they offered was wine. This change in lounge offerings hadn't been mentioned to us when we booked. I really hope they don't end up doing this again but only time will tell.

I can't comment on the CL FP as we've never done it, but hopefully others will be able to give some insight as to whether or not there are any disadvantages :flower3:.

Looking forward to your Poly CL review :goodvibes.

You're welcome....and also thank you :).

I'm right there with you on fingers crossed for late summer 🤞 🤞.

I'm sure it'll be a tough decision to make, so it will be interesting to see what Disney decides to do.

No disrespect but please, don't think for one minute that Disney is hurting for $$$. They have insurance for these types of crises and are well placed in the markets to weather this type of shutdown and the slowdown period that's sure to follow. I do think we'll see some CL changes but more from a logistics standpoint. Perhaps seating farther apart, perhaps dishes spaced further apart, etc. As you mentioned, there were issues after 9/11 but also note that things reverted back to normal not much after 9/11. Remember, 9/11 was a shot across the bow and no one knew what to do. This crisis has been unfolding and continues to unfold. Disney will have a plan in place when they are allowed to open. They know they have to take care of the AP holders as well as DVC owners. They are the backbone and Disney knows it. Let's not look for trouble; just give the processes time to work as everyone adjusts to the new normal.
Always remember to wash your hands and don't touch your face! :).

Oh I totally agree with you that Disney isn't hurting for money, but they will undoubtedly make it seem as they are. It will be interesting to see how they handle things with the CL. My biggest concern is that they will charge more and offer a lot less, without letting the customers know what is really happening. I'm sure boards like this will keep us all up to date when things get opened back up and operating again.

So our club level part of our Disneymoon is scheduled June 30-July 5 and is then followed by a Disney Cruise. However, with the current circumstances, we are not sure if we would be better off switching to a monorail resort instead for the same amount of money we were planning to invest in club level and the fast pass perks. I’m really sad though because I think club level AKL would have been perfect for our honeymoon. If what everyone is predicting turns out to be accurate, I’m not sure if many club level amenities will be worth what we are paying- especially because our 90 day was yesterday.

That being said, at what point do we really need to pull the trigger on what we want to do with dropping club level and/or changing resorts? I figure that we still have a chance or advantage of the fast passes if they open up within the next 30 days. Feedback or thoughts on this?

This is my concern as well 😕.

You can drop CL (change your room type) or change resorts right up until the time you go, pending availability for the room type/resort you want to change to. Right now Disney is taking reservations starting June 1, but as days/weeks go by, that could change. If Disney does re-open at that time, it won't be until early/mid June that we see reports of CL stays. Things are just so unpredictable right now that it's tough to decide. As far as FPs go, I agree with you that you should be ok if things open up within the next 30 days to book. Good luck deciding as it's not easy right now, but I do hope you have a great trip/honeymoon :wizard:.

You can book and pay for the fp’s now. I would so that in case they reopen. It’s fully refundable just ask them when . I can’t remember but it was pretty close to last minute.

Then if have funds pay a deposit and book your 2nd choice.

I have a trip end of June. One res is Pop because I may be poor(just got laid off). I also did poly cl because after all this I could use it!

We probably won’t know until Mid May to 6/1 whether they reopen or when.

I am prepared to go with either trip if they open. I just miss my Disney.

They will keep all the bookings of people who don’t hear about it and 5% of the bookings of people who do. Hit and miss (in my experience) conceirge CMs aren’t worth that up charge!

did you get any refund for that debacle?

No we didn't receive anything for the lack of options for club level at the Royal Palm Club. For one thing I was younger then and hated confrontation of any sort. I was so surprised that I did ask about it at the CM desk on the third floor. As I recall I received some story about how they were always switching things up at the CL and there was no guarantee what you would receive on the day you checked in. The positive side was I was so disgusted that we started trying other CL and after a stay at the AKL CL and then the BWI CL we found a resort and CM that we love at the BWI and have stayed there often over the years.

BWI is on my list! So many great CL tales.
(But that clown pool :eek::eek::eek:)

Now that our son is an adult we don't spend much time at the Clown pool, though I thought it was a really nifty slide! We love the quiet pool at the BWI because it's almost always peaceful. Added bonus is the back staircase from the CL section comes out right at the pool so no walking through the lobby with your swimsuit on. My husband and I have spent many afternoon's lying by the pool.

It's a fun slide, and I kind of like the creepy clown!
