Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

The "some sort of booze" was what I was hoping to understand! LOL I saw a link to the recipe but it was too blurry to read. Anyone know?

Just back from AKL club level. I liked the staff at club level, as well as the offerings. I am done with this hotel, though (we have stayed Savannah, not club, once before).

We arrived at check out--11:00 am. Not my choice, but that's when Magic Express dropped us. No one from Club greeted us, so I had to wait in line with everybody lined up in the main lobby. When I was finally helped, two cast members got into a 2 minute argument about which one of them was stuck bringing me up to the lounge. So not the way to start off; I would of thought taking a minute away from the desk might actually be nice, but apparently not.

Our room was a ridiculous ways away from the lounge. So much so that we didn't use the lounge as much as we otherwise would have. The cynical part of me thought that perhaps that was the point.

No welcoming candy and no turn downs at AKL anymore. Maybe that is standard now across the resorts, but we did get turn down at Boardwalk in November.

While I thought the staff at club was nice, I just don't think the regular staff with whom I had to interact, as well as the placement of the rooms, make this hotel a choice for me. I much prefer the other clubs I have tried. WL is my favorite thus far, although I did enjoy Boardwalk and the GF as well.

I realize this is just my opinion and that I could have requested to change rooms. However, if I had changed, someone else would have been stuck in it, and we were there only three nights. It wasn't worth the move to me. I only share this for those that are debating between this and another resort.

It's the pineapple, orange, guava juice (POG) mixed with some sort of booze. I think it's rum maybe. But it's not strong, just enough to give it a little kick.
They told me it was white wine.

I actually mixed mine half and half with the white wine on the table. The CM was like, 'do you know that is alcoholic already?!'

They told me white wine. I cannot discern any alcoholic taste in their brew.

This is Tikiman's recipe from his website:

Ku'ulei's punch (concierge lounge)
3 bottles of white zinfandel
12 oz chardonnay
6 oz grand marnier
6 cans Sprite
6 cans frozen cranberry juice concentrate
1 can frozen pineapple juice concentrate
2 cans frozen orange guava passionfruit concentrate
5 cans water
ice cubes (2- one gallon pitchers full)
1 orange cut up
1 can pineapple tidbits with juice
Makes 3 gallons

Headed over to the lounge now. Excited to see what is in store for us today! We had a great day at HS yesterday. The kids all did Jedi training for the first time which they LOVED and ToT for first time as well which they did NOT love! Ha! We got back to resort for some swimming before a huge heavy rainstorm came through. Didn't make it back out for emh at MK but enjoyed the club level desserts and a family game of uno before bed. :)

Rope drop at MK awaits this morning!

-Kelly

Happy rope drop day!!! Thanks for the mid-trip report! How exciting :)

Sorry to hear about your less than ideal stay. I love the AKL but didn't stay CL there because of the changes to CL, mainly the lack of turn down service, greeters, and they removed the children food options from the snack lounge. I did not like the distance of the rooms from the lounge but could deal with that but all together it was a deal breaker. We booked CL at the BC this time but time will tell if we still think CL is worth the splurge. Right now I justify it on occasion. I am anxiously awaiting more reviews on the BC CL. I'm scared the new rounds of cost-cutting may effect service there. Hope not though.

Darn, I love rum but am not much of a white wine drinker. I also don't like soda of any kind so I guess I will just stick to beer. :(

Thank you! Looking forward to it all being done now. Fingers crossed.

You're welcome :).

I know the feeling.....I love the planning and look forward to making ADRs, but it's also nice to have things in place :goodvibes.

Thanks everyone! I guess I assumed it was like at BC last time we stayed there the lounge was locked at times

I think all of the Epcot resort clubs are lounges with a locking door, but the GF, Poly, AKL and WL (not sure about CR) lounges are open that can be accessed any time. WL CL food area is closed/locked, but the lounge is accessible all times of the day ;).

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry your stay wasn't very magical. As far as turn down, I think that is still available on CL, but it's no longer automatic, so you have to request it.

I'm at AKL now. I'm not sure if Ive had a different experience because I'm DVC but it's been great! I checked in online and when we arrived there was no line and I was taken upstairs immediately. Our room is 6209 at we've had 3 zebras and 4 giraffes outside our balcony at night. The staff is great as well as offerings.

The turn down service at AKL is now by request only. If you look at the Amenities description for AKL Club Level on the WDW website, turn down service is no longer listed. This change is only at AKL for now, not sure if it will make it's way to the others.

Re: AKL CL room request: I was hoping for the bunk beds, but also a room, I believe, based on touring plans, east facing on the Kudu trail in the range of rms. 4241 and 4303.
Would you just ask IPO for all that? Or is east redundant since they all are on Kudu? Are bunk bed rooms in that area?

Sorry for less than magical interactions, especially on check-in, that really can set the tone. We did get turndown at BWI, no welcome candy though (which to me isn't huge since there's so many yummy snacks in the CL). AKL is a gorgeous resort, we were upgraded to a suite there in 2010 and it was a HIKE to the CL, however it was our first CL stay and had nothing to compare it to.

I would definitely ask IPO to request Bunk beds and then the room itself as a secondary request. They forward requests to the room assigner I think.

We had a wonderful time at Disneyland!! For those trying to compare WDW to the DLH this may help.

I have stayed cl at WL CR BC Poly GF SL and GF RPC. The lounge space felt like BC.

The lounge was on the 11th floor with large windows so it had a view similar to CR but not as close.

The food items were out at 6:30 am :thumbsup2

I have to say the food was better at all the wdw resorts for 5pm appetizers. They didn't have anything really tasty and we were there 5 nights. Very dull/plain offerings.

However breakfast was 2nd to GF. It was nice having eggs and meats. I made a croissant with ham and cheese for breakfast, yum.

The staff was nice! Felt like CR/WL. Mostly older folks working and knew what they were doing. Kept the place clean and stocked.

Oh and the champagne ran freely. Many people had mimosas at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When I told them we were in the Fairytale suite they were great about giving us large glasses of wine and champagne for the room. A whole large plastic cup of champagne:drinking1

Pm me if any q's!!

Wow, page 3! Almost couldn't find us! ;)

Anyone thinking about free dining this fall? Last year there was tons of availability for club level rooms with the offer. Just curious if anyone thinks it's a good deal.

So much WDW news this week! Can't wait to see all the new stuff this summer! :sunny:

I would love to do free dining. Unfortunately, the dates never work for me.

I agree with pas, make bunk beds your first request (if that's the priority) and the room itself second :).

Hi Erika :) sight change in my dates, 24 April - 2 May still at the BC CL - UK free dining came out yesterday so I jumped at it and am now confirmed with free dining which I upgraded to the deluxe plan, such a good deal it would have been rude to refuse lol

AKL Club Level (Non-DVC) I'm just leaving this resort right now and I have to agree with the earlier post about club level at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I have to say I spent a lot of time reading AKL information on the boards and reviews before booking this resort. However, I was completely underwhelmed. The club level rooms are really far from the lounge. I would put the room on par with a moderate resort room. The toilets and showers are very loud. (You can hear your neighbors using them.) No turn down service or anything (not even a welcome letter) upon arrival. The staff was not friendly at the resort. As the other person stated above, no one greeted us at the door and they checked us in up front before realizing we were club level. At that point, they argued over who would take us up stairs. Club level rooms look at the Savannah, but they are above the tree line so unless animals are close you really cannot see them. After staying at the Wilderness Lodge and the Grand Californian in Disney Land I expected the similar "wow" effect of lobby. However, it was just okay. We split this stay with a tower baylake room at Contemporary. Honestly, I wish we would have stayed there the entire time and just came here for dinner one night. I recommend doing that and getting there a little early to view the animals. Maybe DVC is worth it for this one, but I would not pay 450+ per night again here. The service and room at the contemporary was way better than AKL.
