Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I can't seem to work out which resorts SL and RPC are, please put me out of my misery!
RPC makes me smile as that's what I call my house (it's named Rice Pudding Cottage as back in the 1800's it was a rice pudding shop!)

Anyway I digress... Just wanted to say thank you for all of your help and advice on the Beach Club CL. I can't wait!

Rice Pudding Cottage sounds lovely. :goodvibes Happy planning!!:beach:

SL=Sugar Loaf, the CL that is outside the main building at Grand Floridian.
RPC=Royal Palm Club, the CL that is inside the main building at Grand Floridian.

Services and offerings are always changing in club levels. I remember back when the appetizers were more like dinner entrees. I remember bottled water to take to the parks. I really don't think it will be drastic ...probably things like gifts in the rooms, maybe one less cordial or wine selection. However ...in my opinion ... If we go expecting things to be the same every trip, we will be setting ourselves up to be disappointed. I love the convenience of breakfast every morning and I expect maybe next time I stay club level, there will probably be one less pastry or cereal to pick from. I still think club level is a great deal, especially for a larger family. Just breakfast alone (plus that glass of wine) probably covers the difference in cost.

A true resort changer! ;)
:goodvibes Always

I have been told by numerous people that with the "cutbacks" that occurred last month, lots of things will be or are changing at the various club levels and the welcome gifts are probably one of them. I think everyone that stays starting in March should report at the different club levels and that will be what you can expect from this point on. Things constantly change but I've heard that along with curb side greeters, club level offerings are definitely changing. So what you had three months ago is probably not what you can expect to see now.
Wanted to say HI TEENA

Just wanted to say thanks for all for the comments above on my GF RPC review, much appreciated! I will always love CL and our Disney trips in general - we're hooked - and I'm secretly sitting here thinking how great it will be take DD to GF for all the princess stuff when she's older, despite a few stuffy CM's!

I'd stick with RPC! I had originally booked SL but I know my personality well enough. I convinced myself if I did SL I'd be looking over at the main building the whole time wondering "ohhh...wonder what it's like over there...." :teleport:Although, DW just found my receipt from RPC and realized what I paid per night. I may never be allowed to go back to Disney again!!! Ha!

This is me exactly lol! I keep going back and forth between RPC and SL and my rational mind says SL is the better choice but I know I would just keep wishing I was in the main building and I'd almost rather not stay there at all if I can't be there

Hi everyone. I am planning a trip in October and want to stay at CR and I was considering upgrading to CL. I have stayed at WL and CBR before and since this will be the first time with my twin DD10 I really want this to be special for them. Is CL at CR worth it? How friendly are the CM?

We did CR CL December 2014 and really enjoyed it. If it weren't for the lousy pool setup (IMHO), we'd probably like CR just as much as Poly. We very much enjoyed CL and the view from the lounge, thought the desk CM's were just OK (like a lot of places), food CM's were great. DD got a Disney stomach bug on this trip and we had excellent CM service and just an overall pleasant experience. We stayed in a TPV room but I would have been content in a LV room given the wonderful park view from the lounge. My only small gripe is that I was on the Chef Mickey's side - wish I had requested the other side of the building (didn't realize that at the time).

This was our view from the room - we were the second to last room on the south side.

This was either from the room or lounge, I can't remember. It's the Christmas Party fireworks so this was part of the 180 degree show, not normal Wishes.

wow those are beautiful pictures! I know I want MKV but I know it's quite a bit more than Garden Tower. So many decisions :-)

I too felt very much the same way after our stay at RPC last summer. I came home feeling that we'd had a wonderful holiday and would return in a heartbeat but didn't get the magical feeling in the lounge which I was expecting. I did find a difference in CMs - they were all extremely professional and helpful but one or two lacked the warmth which we'd experienced from other trips. Our stay at the BWI at Christmas exceeded my expectations as we encountered CMs who went above and beyond and as others have said, the little touches made all the difference. We've booked SL in July as the bounceback offer was too good to resist and I couldn't justify the extra $2000 for RPC. We're so looking forward to this especially after reading so many positive reviews.

Just returned from our stay at GF SL. It was wonderful!! Food was delicious, great staff. Nice lounge. The only negative for me was a few men coming down to lounge in their bathrobes with bare feet! Is this normal club level behavior?. I wouldn't let me 7 yr old wear his pjs down that were pretty much shorts and a shirt because I thought it was disrespectful and gross. Another thing I didn't like was during the evening offering there was a women in front of me that filled up 4 to go drink cups with chicken nuggets, leaving only two left. I am assuming these were for later in the park if her kids got hungry. She turned to me and said don't worry they will fill it back up. I was ready to tell her that Golden Corral is down the street. This is not an all you can eat buffet. I felt bad taking two empanadas at a time if there were people in line behind me. rant over:) we really loved the grand Floridian other than those two issues!

Or how about sending a letter to guests? They already have this system in place to contact us about refurbishments and pool closures. If they sent a letter and gave us a heads up that there are club level changes and/or reductions in services then we all don't have to be so shocked and upset!

I'll add that to my job description! ;)

You're absolutely right -- we all know what to expect from staying CL if we've stayed there several times, so a heads-up would be the logical course of action. It's not like we're not going to notice the changes! I can probably deal with someone not greeting me outside....maybe even deal with not receiving a welcome gift. I guess I'm not staying at RPC at the ideal time, but at least I can report back to you guys what things are like. I have BWI CL and Poly CL booked for July, so those will be interesting too. I'm going to be keeping a close eye on people's posting of their CL trips in the next few weeks.

Same here with the welcome gift, my kids eat it up anyway and there's plenty of yummies in the CL. We rarely get met in the lobby since we drive and do the self-park so again not an issue. BUT I want friendly "Disney-attitude-having" CMs. Smiling and cordial, that's all I ask. Be nice to my family, and make my kids feel special :) The lounge space and location is what I pay extra for really. Looking forward to your RPC, and Poly, and BWI reports!

Golden Corral.... ROTFL. I have seen this every time I've stayed CL and I always just shake my head. The best was last week at RPC.... A woman told the CM she'd need a tray and a carafe for coffee. The CM brought them out from the back and said guest preceded to load up the tray with MOUNTAINS of food and filled the carafe with coffee - enough for like 10 people. I guess maybe that's accepted CL behavior since the CM gave it to her, but I was shocked. Your fellow family really can't get out of bed to come to the lounge themselves?? (Sorry if this was anyone on this board....)

Still working on my plan but wanted to double check something with you club level veterans. Is it true that BC lounge closes? So, if say I wanted to grab a soda after 10pm I couldn't? I like the pricing and being able to book a larger room but now I'm worried about access since that's the selling point on club level for my DH.

Just grab a soda or two earlier in the day and pop them in your room frig. We do this frequently. :goodvibes

Great idea! We've never done club before but ordered a bunch of snacks and such for the kids last year and it was a pain having to store them so we like the idea of drinks and snacks available during the day. I know my girls will love storm along bay. I think we're going to do 6 nights Poly CL and then 3 nights BC CL

TigrLvsPooh, could you add me to the CL guest list?

Just booked Poly GV CL for April 11-April 14 (AP discount) before we move over to the GF. Wanted lagoon view, but it wasn't available for my dates. I'll keep checking though, I know things can change with availability. On a good note, Poly IPO got in touch within 24 hrs. We have stayed CL there before, but not for several years. Very excited to see all the new changes at the resort!

I'm troubled to read others reports of decline and inconsistentcy at CL's. I'm hoping that will not be the case for us and I'll be glad to report back how it goes!
