Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Funny - We stayed at the Poly in July and said never again.
Maybe it's just another downgrading of offerings as our last CL stay was January 2015 (at Poly). We were missing Poly. We stayed a couple nights prior to CR at Portofino Bay and we enjoyed the room, service and food much more.

Housekeeping was also inconsistent at CR. And the sinks drove me crazy.

For every negative review you'll see a positive, and vice versa. They all have their good and bad days. I find the food offerings change and vary based on so many factors it's hard to say a person who stayed at a particular resort one week would have the same experience as another person a month later.
An example.... the two CMs who were working the CL desk at the BC over Christmas I'd never seen before. They were very young and probably got the short end of the stick for working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They were pretty inexperienced and if that would have been my first impression of the BC staff I might have drawn some conclusions. I find this happens with the food and beverage service too.

Do you guys feel like there is a big difference in the two club levels at GFlo? We have done WL and BCV club level in the past and this is our first time at GFlo

I loved RPC, but I didn't care for SL. The food offerings are the same in both, but the lounges are worlds apart (IMO). SL had more of a cafeteria atmosphere to me, whereas RPC had a comfortable/relaxed atmosphere with beautiful views. SL (in my experience) was also more chaotic. I'm glad I tried SL, but it's a CL I really have no desire to return to.

Hi All! I haven't stayed CL in a while, but enjoy following this thread.

On the WL CL topic, this site is the first I have heard they were changing anything. We have stayed there twice (sadly not since 2008) but enjoyed it. Are they moving into the honeymoon suites that surround the lobby? The lounge was a bit crammed vs what I have seen in the other CLs but sitting along the balcony/walkway overlooking the lobby was nice. I wonder if they are not going to allow that at all now? I think a complaint of those suites was they had zero view, so it would make sense to repurpose them. I was hoping to be back there in 2017 for my decade change birthday.

The cobbler is worth asking for! I don't typically like that, but tried it one of our last nights and regretted missing it earlier. Very good.
They told us that they were taking the two honeymoon suites on the Mk side and turning them into the club level lounge. I asked if the seating area above the lobby would remain and they said no. But I hope they change their minds about that. But the seating area will be closed once they move the temporary lounge into the VP suite. They plan to block that whole seventh floor balcony off during the lounge construction.

Honestly I don't think the difference is great enough to justify the cost for the average vacationer. But if you're looking for a really special trip and the expense doesn't break the bank then I say go for it. :)

I believe you but I think that is a management problem that should be addressed when people are spending ridiculous amounts of money for club level services. Especially when you make a direct complaint and you are answered with rainbows and unicorns and the problem continues.

Oh I totally agree. I wasn't saying the issues are acceptable, but just that they happen everywhere. Sometimes certain CLs get more negative than others, but I've had good and bad experiences at all of them.

i totally agree. I don't spend much time in the lounge..SL is easier to take the food back to your room if you want

But the seating area will be closed once they move the temporary lounge into the VP suite. They plan to block that whole seventh floor balcony off during the lounge construction.

It might be worth a trip during construction just to see what the VP Suite looks like inside! hehehe. Don't the other floors have some sort of seating in the walkway connecting the MK side and Villa side wings? We actually prefer to stay in the side facing the villas instead of MK. I hope it all works out.
This just occurred to me, when we went up to the roof where they do the flag ceremony, we went in a door on that side of the building from the CL floor. It was this weird narrow corridor. I can't remember how it fit in exactly with those rooms. I wonder if that has to be changed and if the flag ceremony will be disrupted.

Sounds like they're making big changes. I'll be sad to see the seating overlooking the lobby go away as that is one of the (many) things I love about WL CL :(.

Did they say about how long all of this would take to complete? (sorry if you already posted this, I could have missed it).

They have closed all the seating areas on the upper floors except for the fourth floor seating area above the front door. The loss of all the Bay Lake viewing areas in the lodge bothered me the most of all.

There is a side door to the roof access stairs and that will remain open.

the South wing refurb is supposed to take eleven months. I don't know how long the club level refurb is supposed to take. They didn't know the timeline either.

We got the same letter, kept our room, and stayed CL last week (Jan 9-16). We neither saw nor heard any noise, construction, or disruption. Honestly, the only intolerable noise was in the club lounge one day when a family let their children run (full on RUN) around screaming through the lounge while people were trying to carry food and drink to the tables. :sad2:

But as for refurb, we were not bothered by anything, and we didn't see any refurb activity.

Hope that helps!

I've been stalking/ reading this forum for months now as I have a trip planned 13-19 August. Right now I have booked CL at the Poly with the regular DP but am thinking of dropping it. I know the CL offerings don't replace meals but I'm wondering if it would be enough to grab something quick in the morning for breakfast before heading to the parks? We did the DP in 2014 but will now have another "adult" added and my son whose turned 3 in October to pay for so I am still doing the cost estimates on whether or not we'd be better off paying OOP. Anyone have any insights on CL and the DP? Also, I realize this is a DP question but since it is specific to CL I thought it would be better off posted here. Please let me know if I am incorrect. Thank you!
