Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

It seems others have had success with day of check-in, but I’ve only every been told no, no matter when we check-in... most recently in July. I must be asking the wrong way or something!

I don't know how but my husband was able to have something waiting for us in our room on our anniversary trip in July (yacht club non CL) from the Floral and Gifts department, it was the 'Wish Come True' package. I have always heard that it isn't possible on check in day so it surprised me. In fact when we were checking in I asked if our room was available and she said no that they were arranging something special or something along those lines, which annoyed my husband lol.

I just got a call from YC! Confirming that we are arriving on Wednesday and just asked about what time we will get there and if we are celebrating anything. He didn't specifically say he's from Club Level so I was confused at first. I never got a call from them when we first booked so I never expected one so soon to my trip. Very excited! I hope this weather holds up...

We're tossing around a quick Easter trip. We are used to summer. Will I want to kill myself with the crowds? Will definitely do the extra fp if they are still around. Anything special around that time i should know about. Thinking poly unless someone tells me there is something amazing at another resort for Easter.

I'm guessing the answer is no, but are there usually any AP discounts that week?

That’s great to here. WL has been doing the few days before arrival Call for awhile now and I think I’ve seen maybe a report from GF recently too. Glad to see this nice touch expanding to other resorts. Have a great trip!

A little :offtopic: but it’s a good story,

Took my wife to the airport today, she is going to Indy for a couple of days on business.

Youngest Son had appointment at eye doctor.

I get home neighbors are putting up Halloween decorations, so hey hows it going, oh we’re just so excited we’re getting ready to leave for #HHN

:furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious:

My response oh wow cool! Ok see you later, I must have went back oh maybe 30 years I crossed my arms stuck my bottom lip out and stomped back home.......

Lol!!!

Oh 80 days to go!!!!!
I know when you tell me the answer, I'm going to bang my head, but what is HHN?!?

:ssst:

Well darn... that’s what I get for calling I guess!
I think this may be the difference. It depends on what you order and semantics.
Packages that have to be set up seem to be an exception.
This is what I ordered and had no problems with having set up in the room prior to arrival.
Well, sort of prior to arrival. They won't do it prior to check in time and they won't do it before your room is assigned or anything like that
I ordered one of the Birthday Celebrations. Checked out online, put in an arrival time of something like 1-3 (I forget how they offer the selection slots) hoping they'd do one that was at the end so it was there when we arrived after 3:00. They called and said they couldn't do that time slot but could do the next one, since it was check in day. I told them I could make that work, I just wanted it done so the door was decorated when we reached the room (this package has the big door hanger banner) and it did. But yeah, I didn't call and ask. I just ordered it online and entered the time there.

Happy Friday! Did you find January AP rates to be at 40% this year too? Considering renewing my AP now.:)
The rates are really too inconsistent to know. They aren't even across the board 40%, but random. You just have to enter dates and check.

Tell me about check-in experience in CL, please. We are staying CL at GF, checking in on Tuesday 11/20. We are arriving around noon. I was planning on doing on-line check-in, dropping bags at desk, going into lounge to get food and then heading to parks. How does check-in in CL differ from regular check-in process? Does checking in on-line ahead of time change anything about the process? Thanks!

OK thank you. We will be in Sugarloaf.

Check-in experiences can be variable... but here's what happened to us checking-in at GF SL April 2017.

Pulled up, bell services took our bags.

Walked in the lobby, a CM with an iPad approached us to ask for assistance (she was not specifically looking for us, just there to help). We did the "check-in" process right there with the iPad off to the side of the lobby. She then took us over to someone from bell services who took us and our bags over to SL via golf cart (totally not needed, but sort of nice). The CM who drove us was fantastic and was the highlight of check-in.

I actually wish we had "checked-in" with a CM in the SL building, as I was used to at other places or at RPC the year prior. As it went down, we didn't get an intro to the lounge, any explanation, any pleasant chit-chat, any paper work. It was rather impersonal frankly (not that I really care that much, just an observation).

Anyway... YMMV of course, but that was our experience.

Our spring break is the first week of April, so we've gone to WDW that week the last two years. This year, it was also Easter week (we checked in the day after Easter).

I don't find myself being negative/overly down about a specific time of year very often, but if I'm being totally honest, it was probably our least favorite week we've traveled to WDW. It was mainly a combination of the crowds and sky high resort prices that week.... it just didn't seem as "worth it" as our other travels. I don't mind crowds at all and we go during super busy times so totally get it, this week just felt different to me for some reason.

We're rope drop folks and MK opening 8am or earlier every single day actually interfered with CL breakfast to some extent. Our MK mornings we were blazing through breakfast (we were at AKL, FWIW, so in fairness, not close). I realized that trip how much I appreciated at least a few 9am MK openings. :-)

One reason we opted for AKL that trip is that I couldn't stomach the prices of several of the others for a full week. I'm glad we did since we ended up really liking it there and it was a perfect retreat from the busy parks.

I think if I were going to do Easter again, I'd want to be at some place like GF. I've seen pics of their egg hunt and it looks like a great activity if you have kiddos in tow. I think @TJA and others have been there on Easter in recent years and can probably comment specifically.

Anyway... sorry to be kind of a downer... that's not normally my style.... just passing along our personal thoughts.

ETA - should probably add that a late Easter like next year may be different than what we had this year since it overlapped with a lot more spring breaks, generally speaking, so my commentary about crowds may not be totally apples to apples.

I appreciate the honest review. I tried getting my husband on board for right after Christmas through NY but he wasn't feeling it. If we do april it may be right after Easter, my 14yo said Easter is for family. Crazy kid. Personally, I prefer Christmas. By april the weather is getting nicer here. I work in a public school, my yds is in public and my ods started Catholic HS so Easter and Christmas are our only shared weeks off so we are very limited. We are also definitely not rope droppers! I have to wake my kids up for 9 on vacation! They would rather go at night and stay out all night.

I don't find you negative at all. Very helpful information. Our spring break is also the first week of April and since I will be becoming an AP in 23 days I was planning to go to Disney as much as possible. Thus the trip Thanksgiving week. I am already expecting wall to wall people that week, but for DH and myself the focus will be different, This time my 73 year old Dad will be coming with us. We are staying club level at AKL and we just plan on showing him the parks slowly and he will only be able to ride the attractions that usually have low wait times. I may see how I can stand the crowds Thanksgiving week before making my reservation for April. I just love Disney and this year is my year to celebrate the magic.

Lol, ok, yeah, we’re on opposite end of the kid age spectrums so toss out everything I said as it’s probably NA. :-)

Since we did NYE last year too - I vote for then, although sounds like you have opposition. It’s even more crowded and expensive, but we had had a blast!

It may be more crowded but it's decorated beautifully and NYE fireworks! We're happy doing our preplanned fastpasses and having some nice adrs. We don't need or want to be on the go all day.

That was us around NYE. Three FPs, maybe a show we don't usually do, then back to the Poly. I was kind of a lounge rat that trip. :-)

Might be behind on this (if so I apologize).... do we know/have any reports from GF SL now that (I think) it has reopened?

May have just had a bit of resort changeritis so trying to figure out what I’ve done. :-)

Thanks!

Just want to put this back out there. Anyone going soon??
